KLEE 2023 - The Commissioner of Entrance Exam, Kerala, will release the admission notification for KLEE 2023 in May tentatively. The KLEE online application 2023 will begin in June month for all law courses. Candidates seeking admission to five-year LLB course, three-year LLB course or one-year LLM course at law colleges in Kerala can apply for KLEE 2023. What is KLEE?

Kerala Law Entrance Exam (KLEE) is an entrance exam held for admission in government law colleges and government merit seats in private self-financing law colleges. The law courses for which KLEE is held are 3 years LLB, 5 years LLB and LLM. Candidates who pass the exam can participate in the KLEE centralised allotment process (CAP) for the allotment of seats in the law colleges. There are 4 law colleges and around 20 private self-financing law colleges in Kerala that participate in CAP.

The exam is held in a computer-based test format at various test centres in the state of Kerala. In the KLEE exam, 200 MCQ type questions are asked. The total marks on the paper are 600 and the exam duration is two hours. Separate exams are held for  3 years LLB, 5 years LLB and LLM courses.

KLEE 2023 Eligibility Criteria

Before applying for KLEE, candidates must check the eligibility requirements. If the eligibility is not fulfilled at the time of admission, candidates will lose their seats even if they have passed the entrance exam. The KLEE 2023 eligibility is given below:

For 3 years LLB:

  • Candidates should be Indian citizens.
  • They should be a graduate of a recognised university.
  • Minimum marks in graduation should be 45% for general category, 42% for EWS category, and 40% for SC / ST category
  • No upper age limit or lower age limit criteria for three-year LLB course. 

For 5 years LLB:

  • Applicants should be Indian citizens.
  • Candidates should have passed / appearing in class 10+2 examination.
  • Minimum marks in graduation should be 45% for general category, 43% for EWS category, and 40% for SC / ST category.
  • Must be 17 years of age as of December 31, 2023.

For LLM:

  • Candidates should be Indian citizens.
  • Candidates must have an LLB degree (5 year / 3-year course).
  • Minimum marks in graduation should be 45% for general category, 42% for EWS category, and 40% for SC / ST category.
  • No upper age limit or lower age limit for admission to law courses.

KLEE 2023 Admit Card

KLEE admit card is released for all the registered candidates online on the official website, cee.kerala.gov.in. Admit cards will not be sent by post. The admit card is made available via separate links for 3 years LLB, 5 years LLB and LLM entrance exams. 

The admit card contains the reporting time for the exam, the allotted exam centre, exam date, time and other important information. To download the KLEE 2023 admit card, candidates have to use their application number and password. Candidates have to carry the KLEE admit card on the day of the exam in printed format. The print must be coloured.

To download the KLEE admit card, candidates have to follow the following steps:

  1. Visit the official website of KLEE 2023, cee.kerala.gov.in.
  2. Access the candidate login.
  3. Login using the application number and password.
  4. Download the admit card.
  5. Get coloured printouts of the same to carry on the exam day.

KLEE 2023 Syllabus

CEE does not prescribe the exact syllabus of the KLEE exam. However, CEE informs about the sections to be asked in the exam. Also based on the past year's analysis of the exam, a few of the topics that are asked under each section of the question paper have been deduced. Candidates need to have a flexible approach while preparing for the exam.

KLEE 2023 syllabus for 3 years LLB and 5 years LLB:

Both 5-years LLB and 3-years LB have the same syllabus. However, note that the difficulty level shall differ. The  5 years LLB entrance exam is an undergraduate level exam. On the other hand, the 3-years LLB is a graduate-level exam.

KLEE 2023 Exam Pattern

KLEE 2023 exam pattern is the same for 5years LLB and 3 years LLB. However, it differs for the LLM entrance exam. The exam pattern for all the 3 courses is as follows:

KLEE 2023 Exam Pattern for 3 years and 5 years LLB

  • Mode: KLEE for LLB 3 years course is held as a computer-based test.
  • Number of questions: There are a total of 200 questions in the exam
  • Total number of sections: The total number of sections in the exam is four including - General English, General Knowledge, Arithmetic and Mental Ability, and Aptitude for Legal Studies. 
  • Type of questions: The type of questions in the exam is objective type
  • Marking scheme: The marking scheme is +3 marks for each correct answer and -1 mark for each wrong attempt.
  • Total marks: The entire exam is of 600 marks
  • Duration: The total exam is of 2 hours

KLEE 2023 Exam Pattern for LLM

The LLM paper has 2 parts - part A and part B. The exam pattern for both parts is as follows:

  • Mode: KLEE for LLM course is held as a computer-based test.
  • Number of questions: There are a total of 200 questions in the exam. Part A has 100 questions and part 2 has 100 questions.
  • Total number of sections: Part A has 4 sections and Part B has 6 sections.
  • Type of questions: The type of questions in the exam is objective type
  • Marking scheme: The marking scheme is +3 for each correct answer and -1 for each wrong attempt.
  • Total marks: The entire exam is of 600 marks
  • Duration: The total exam is of 4 hours. Part A is of 2 hours duration and Part B is of 2 hours duration.

KLEE 2023 Preparation Tips

Kerala Law Entrance Exam is a moderate level examination. Candidates can check some of the preparation tips to prepare for the exam efficiently:

  • Practice the previous year question papers of KLEE. This helps with gaining time management strategy, speed and accuracy.
  • Complete the syllabus and cover all the topics that can be asked in the exam.
  • Study the books recommended for KLEE preparation.
  • Be consistent and avoid procrastination.

KLEE 2023 Answer Key and Question Paper

After the exam is over, CEE releases the answer key and question paper of KLEE. The answer key contains the questions asked in the exam and the correct answers of them. Using the answer key candidates can crosscheck their responses. They can know the number of correct and wrong attempts. Using the marking scheme of the exam, they can then find out their probable score in the exam out of 600.

The KLEE 2023 answer key and questions shall be available in the form of a PDF file. Candidates can visit the official website and download them.

The results for KLEE for all courses are announced online only. The result is first announced as scorecards under the respective logins of the candidates. Therefore a merit list is uploaded as a PDF file on the official website. The candidates with names on the merit list can participate in CAP. The scorecard is issued to all candidates to take the exam. 

The KLEE 2023 rank list has the roll number of the candidates, score, and KLEE 2023 rank / qualifying status. While the KLEE scorecard has the marks achieved by the candidates in KLEE 2023.

KLEE 2023 Cutoff

There are 2 types of KLEE cutoff. First, marks needed to qualify in the entrance exam. Second, the last rank up to which admission is provided to the law colleges via CAP. Check both types of KLEE cutoff below:

KLEE 2023 Counselling

The counselling process for is a single-window seat allotment process. Seats in all the law colleges are allotted via this centralised allotment process - CAP.  In online counselling, candidates have to first register their options within the given deadline, then check the allotment result, and report to the college allotted for admission fee payments and document verification.

The entire counselling process of KEE 2023 is online. However, document verification and payment of the admission fee is to be done by reporting at the allotted colleges.

A: To qualify in the entrance exam candidates have to secure a minimum mark in the entrance exam. However, there are no such requirements for the LLM entrance exam. A General/SEBC category candidate should get a minimum of 10% of total marks in the Entrance Examination and a candidate belonging to SC/ST category should get a minimum of 5% of the total marks.
