It serves as an entrance examination for undergraduate and postgraduate law programmes. The most common courses offered through KLEE are the 5-year integrated LL.B (Bachelor of Laws) programmes. These 5-year integrated LL.B programmes are typically offered by various law colleges and universities in Kerala. The curriculum for these programmes combines undergraduate education with legal studies, allowing students to earn a law degree along with their undergraduate degree. The 3-year LL.B programme is a postgraduate law degree typically pursued by individuals who already hold an undergraduate degree in a field other than law. It offers a comprehensive legal education, covering various aspects of the law, including constitutional law, criminal law, contract law, and more. Students in the 3-year LL.B programme gain a solid foundation in legal principles, statutes, and case law.
However, the LLM programme is an advanced postgraduate degree in law that allows individuals who have already earned an LL.B or equivalent degree to specialize in a specific area of law. LLM programme offers a deeper understanding of legal concepts, theories, and practices. Students can choose from various specializations such as international law, human rights law, corporate law, environmental law, and more. LLM graduates often pursue careers in academia, legal research, policymaking, and international law.
