Meghalaya TET (MTET) Exam Date 2023 has been announced by the Directorate of Educational Research & Training (DERT). The MTET 2023 exam was held for Lower Primary (LP) and Upper Primary (UP) papers on December 1, 2023. DERT accepted the MTET Online Form 2023 till October 26, 2023. MTET Admit Card was released by the DERT one week before the exam date.

MTET 2023 dates highlight the timeline of events related to the exam including the release of the application form, admit card, exam date and declaration of result, etc. Candidates should keep themselves updated with Maharashtra TET dates so they do not miss any exam events.

Candidates can check below the important events of the Meghalaya TET (MTET) 2023 exam:

  • Meghalaya TET application form 2023 is released by the DERT after the issue of notification. The application process for the Meghalaya TET exam is conducted offline as well as online.
  • MTET admit card is released online. Candidates can access the MTET admit card from the official website by logging in with the application number and date of birth or password. The MTET admit card 2023 provides details such as exam date, time, and exam centre. 
  • The MTET 2023 exam is held offline in pen and paper mode. The exam is conducted in two sessions for LP and UP levels.
  • MTET result 2023 is announced after the completion of the assessment process. The result contains the roll numbers of qualified candidates.

Q:   In which mode the MTET exam is conducted?

The MTET exam is conducted in offline mode as a pen-and-paper based test. Candidates need to mark their answers on the OMR sheet. The candidates need to fill the sheet carefully as no extra OMR sheet will not be given in the exam. However, the MTET application process is complete online process. The candidates have to fill out he application form online on the official website. Other than this the application fee have to paid online.

MTET Eligibility Criteria 2023

Check Meghalaya MTET eligibility for LP and UP teachers below:

Citizenship: Candidates who are permanent residents of Meghalaya are only eligible to apply for the MTET 2022 exam.

MTET Eligibility for Lower Primary (LP) Teacher

Candidates should clear Class 12 with a minimum of 50 per cent aggregate (45 per cent for SC/ST) and should pass a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) in accordance with NCTE regulations/four-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed)/Diploma in Special Education.

MTET Eligibility for Upper Primary (UP) Teacher

Candidates should pass BA/BSc with at least 50 per cent aggregate and should clear a two-year D.El.Ed in accordance with NCTE regulations/one-year B.Ed/four-year B.El.Ed/Diploma in Special Education. Candidates who have cleared Class 12 with at least 50 per cent aggregate and possess a four-year BA.Ed/Bsc.Ed degree are also eligible to apply for the exam.

Age limit: Other than the educational qualification mentioned above, candidates should not be over 32 years of age. However, age relaxation of five years is given to candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST) category.

Q:   How many papers does one need to give to qualify the MTET exam?
A: 

Candidates planning to teach Classes 1 to 5 need to qualify MTET Paper 1. Candidates planning to teach Classes 6 to 8 need to qualify for MTET Paper 2. Candidates planning to teach Classes 1 to 8 need to qualify both papers. The candidates have to apply for the papers according to their eligibility set by the board. The educational qualification criteria has been given below for the candidates:

  • Paper 1 
    • Class 12 with minimum 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2 years Diploma in Elementary Education
    • Class 12 with minimum 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4 years Bachelor of Elementary Education (BElEd)
  • Paper 2
    • Graduation with a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education. Graduation with minimum 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in one-year BEd
Q:   How to get a job after qualifying for MTET?
A: 

After qualifying the MTET exam, the candidates are awarded with the eligibility Certificate. MTET does not guarantee any job after the candidate qualifies the exam. Though, the candidates will become eligible for the recruitment exam after qualifying for the MTET exam. The recruitment exam for recruiting teachers in the schools of Meghalaya. The candidates can apply for the different vacancies according to their eligibility. The Meghalaya government releases the vacancies for the teachers according to the needs of the state.

MTET Selection Process 2023

The Meghalaya TET selection process includes:

  • Began with the release of the official notification.It contains important details regarding the exam such as exam date, the application process, eligibility criteria, syllabus, exam pattern and more.
  • Candidates were required to fill out the MTET application form offline or online.The fee is INR 800 for each paper for General category candidates and INR 400 for SC/ ST/ OBC category candidates. PwD category candidates are exempted from paying the application fee.
  • MTET admit card was released online mode on the portal of DERT.  MTET admit card is a mandatory document to be carried to the allotted test centre.
  • Candidates have to appear for MTET Paper 1 and/or Paper 2 in offline mode. The exam is of two and a half hours duration and is conducted in the English language.
  • MTET result will be announced in online mode on the official website of the board. Candidates who score 60 per cent or more marks are declared as qualified.
