KSET 2024: The Karnataka Exam Authority (KEA) released the KSET (Karnataka State Eligibility Test) result on May 2, 2024. The candidates can download the KSET result from the official website. The candidates can check their results through the candidate's login using the application number and password.

Earlier, the KEA released the revised answer key for the KSET exam on March 28, 2024, 2024. The KSET answer key was released as a PDF separately for all the subjects. The candidates could raise objections against the KSET provisional answer key till February 7, 2024, by paying INR 300 for each objection. The KEA will release the KSET final answer key based on the scrutiny of the objections by the panel. The KSET result will be based on the final answer key. Earlier, KEA conducted the KSET 2023 exam on January 13, 2024, for which the hall ticket was released on January 2, 2024. 

Q:   If I qualify for the KSET exam will I get the Assistant Professorship in the University or College?

A:

No, qualifying the KSET exam will not gaurantee the job for assistant professorship in college or university, it is only an eligibility exam. It means that candidates who will qualify for the exam are eligible to become an assistant professorship. To get job as assistant professorship they will need to apply for the vacancies released by the different universities. On the other hand, the qualified candidates who want to take jobs in the government universities have to appear in the exams conducted by the Karnataka state universities.

 

Q:   What is the salary of an Assistant Professor on a Contractual basis after qualifying KSET exam?

A:

The salary of Assistant professor in India ranges between 3.5 LPA to 6 LPA depending on Universities. If a candidate joins a private university as a fresher (no prior experience of teaching) then the average salary offered by the salary is INR 500-800 per class. The salary is increased as per the experience and position of the candidates.

 

Q:   Can I apply for KSET exam if I have backlog in my post-graduation?

A:

The following are the requirements for KSET Qualification for programs leading to Assistant Professor or Junior Research Fellowships: 

It is recommended that candidates only appear in the post-graduation subject. Candidates may appear in a related subject if their post-graduation subject is not included in the list of subjects.

Candidates are eligible for this test if they have completed a master's degree or an equivalent exam from a university or other institution recognised by UGC in the humanities (including languages), social sciences, computer Science & applications, electronic science, etc. with at least 55 per cent of the possible points (not rounding off).

What is KSET?

Karnataka State Eligibility Test Center, University of Mysore conducts the Karnataka State Eligibility Test (KSET) every year. The exam is conducted to shortlist aspirants for the post of lectureship/Assistant Professor in Karnataka. The official website of KSET informs: “Candidates who qualify the KSET are governed by the recruitment rules and regulations stipulated for Lecturers / Assistant Professors of concerned Universities / Colleges / Institutions (Government/ Aided /Private) of Karnataka State”.

Candidates who qualified for the previous KSET exam are not allowed to apply again for the same subject. If any candidate who was eligible in any previous KSET tests plans to reappear in the current KSET test then the candidature of such a candidate would be canceled and the previous eligibility will be withdrawn through de-notification. Yes, it is mandatory for candidates to appear for both KSET Paper 1 and 2 to qualify for the KSET exam. The candidates have to qualify for both papers separately. Candidates who will qualify for one paper will not be considered as qualified for the KSET exam. Paper 1 consists 50 questions for 100 marks. Paper 2 consists 100 questions for 200 marks. The candidates are advised to study paper 1 as paper 2 or they will not qualify for the KSET exam.

KSET Application Form 2024

The KSET application form 2023 was released on September 12, 2023. The application process comprises various stages including the registration forms, entering personal, educational, and KSET exam details, uploading documents, paying the fee, and taking the printout of the application form. After two working days from the date of payment of fee, candidates need to download the application form and take the printout of the 3 sheets of the following pages of the application form in A-4 size paper:

  • Application form: to be submitted to the Nodal centre chosen by the candidate.
  • Attendance slips: to be submitted to the Nodal centre chosen by the candidate.
  • Admit card: to be retained by candidates.

KSET Eligibility Criteria 2024

Aspirants need to fulfill multiple KSET 2024 eligibility criteria to appear for the state eligibility test. Eligibility criteria for the Karnataka State Eligibility Test are as mentioned below:

  • Should have secured a minimum of 55 per cent marks (without rounding off) for the general category and 50 per cent marks for Schedule Category (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Persons With Disability (PWD-VH/PH), Category I, IIA, IIB, IIIA and IIIB in master’s or equivalent exam from universities/institutions recognized by UGC New Delhi, in the subjects opted for KSET examination.
  • Have appeared or will be appearing at the qualifying Master’s degree (final year) examination and whose result is still awaited or candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also appear for KSET. However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally. For those who clear the KSET examination, an eligibility certificate will be issued only on production of proof of having passed the Master’s program or equivalent examination securing at least 55% marks (50% in case of SC, ST, PWD (VH/PH), Category I, IIA, IIB, IIIA, IIIB candidates) within two years from the date of KSET examination, failing which they will be treated as disqualified.
  • PhD Degree holders whose Master’s degree is completed on or before 19th September 1991 (irrespective of the declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% marks for appearing in the KSET examination.
  • Candidates shall appear for the KSET examination in the relevant subject of their post-graduation only, in case the candidate did not find the subject of his post-graduation in the list of KSET subjects, the candidate may appear in CBSE UGC-NET / UGC-CSIR NET which is held twice a year.
  • Aspirants other than the general category are required to mention their social status (Category I, IIA, IIB, IIIA, IIIB, SC, ST, PWD (VH/PH)) in the online application form. Candidates may note that they should satisfy the eligibility conditions and they are required to submit attested copies of documents such as post-graduate degree marks cards, Xth Marks card, category certificates, and certificates related to PWD (VH/PH) enclosed with their application. The candidates should submit the category certificates on or before the last date for submission of a hard copy of the application form and the certificate should be issued by the competent authority the issue date of such certificate should be not earlier to 1st July 2015. In case their ineligibility is detected due to an invalid certificate by the KSET agency at any stage, their candidature will be canceled and they shall be liable for legal action.
  • Candidates who became eligible in the previous KSET exam are not eligible to apply again in the same subject. If any candidate is found to be eligible in the previous KSET exam and reappears for the KSET 2023 exam, the candidature of such candidate will be cancelled and the previous eligibility will be withdrawn through de-notification.
  • Candidates should possess a Master’s degree or any other equivalent examination from Universities / Institutions recognized by UGC New Delhi in the subject opted for KSET examination.

KSET Age Limit 2023

There is no upper age limit to meet the Karnataka State Eligibility Test eligibility criteria.

KSET Eligibility 2023: Exemptions

KSET exam is the minimum eligibility condition for recruitment of Lecturers / Assistant Professors in Universities / Colleges / Institutions of Higher education (Government/Aided/Private) in the state of Karnataka. However, the official website informs that there are some exemptions to this rule:

  • NET/SET/SLET exam remain the minimum eligibility condition for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professors in Universities/Colleges/ Institutions. In this
    regard, exemption from the NET/SET/SLET exam will be governed by the UGC regulations or through the amendments notified in the Gazette of India for time to time.
  • Candidates who have passed the UGC-NET/CSIR JRF examination before 1989 are also exempted from KSET examination.
  • For SET candidates: Those who cleared the SET exam for eligibility for Assistant Professor before June 1, 2002, are exempted from appearing in KSET and can apply for Assistant Professor anywhere in India. For SET exam held after June 2002 onwards, the qualified candidates are eligible to apply for the post of Assistant Professor only in the Universities/ Colleges situated in the state from where they cleared the exam.

KSET Selection Process 2024

KSET selection process 2024 includes the following steps:

Step 1: Fill KSET Application Form

Candidates need to apply for the KSET exam by filling out the KSET application form online. After duly filling out the KSET 2024 application form, aspirants can pay the application fee either in cash or online. Candidates are informed that the KSET application fee can be paid offline only at Canara Bank cash counters. “Fee submitted by any other mode like Money Order/Demand draft / IPO etc., will not be accepted”, informs the official website of the exam.

Step 2: Download the KSET Admit Card 

Aspirants need to download their KSET admit card for the Karnataka State Eligibility Test from the official website of the exam. Once, they download the admit card, they need to take a clear print of the admit card and carry the same on the day of the KSET 2023 exam.

Step 3: Appear for the Karnataka State Eligibility Test

The KSET exam comprises three papers. The KSET 2023 exam comprises multiple-choice questions (MCQs). The KSET exam is conducted in two sessions. The first session is from 9:30 am to 10:30 am and the second one is from 11:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Aspirants need to reach the test centre at least half an hour before the commencement of the test.

KSET 2024 Exam Day Guidelines

  • Candidates need to carry the KSET admit card 2024 to the exam centres on the day of the examination.
  • Candidates need to carry a photo-ID proof along with its photocopy and a passport size photo for verification and a ballpoint pen to mark their answers.
  • Electronic items including mobile phones, calculators, wristwatches and others are not allowed inside the centres.
