In the MTET exam, papers 1 and 2 contain 150 objective-type multiple-choice questions (MCQs) each. Paper 1 comprises 5 sections i.e. Child Development and Pedagogy, Language-I, Language II, Mathematics, and Environmental Studies. Paper 2 comprises 4 sections with a choice in the fourth one i.e. Child Development and Pedagogy, Language-I, Language-II, and Mathematics and Science or Social Studies. Minimum educational qualification for becoming Teacher for Classes VI-VIII (Elementary Level): Degree with BTC from a UGC recognised university & National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) or Degree with 50% from a UGC recognised institution/ Degree (BEd)/ BEd Special Education from Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) or Intermediate with 50% & 4 years BA/ BSCEd/ BAEd from recognised by NCTE / UGC or Intermediate with minimum 50% & 4 years Bachelor’s degree in elementary education (BElEd). or Degree with minimum 45% from established by Law and UGC recognised institution (SC/ ST/ OBC/ PH/ freedom fighter candidates will be given for 5%) & BEd.

MTET Eligibility Criteria 2023
The eligibility criteria of MTET as per the educational qualification and age limit are given below.
- Candidates who are permanent residents of Meghalaya can apply for the MTET 2023 exam
- Candidates should clear class 12 with a minimum of 50 per cent aggregate to appear for MTET Paper 1 and should pass BA/BSc with at least 50 per cent aggregate to appear for Paper 2
- Candidates should not be over 32 years of age

The Meghalaya TET exam is conducted offline in pen and paper mode. The exam is held in two sessions for Paper 1 and Paper 2.
