RRB ALP notification 2025-26 released to fill up a total of 9970 vacancies. RRB ALP 2025-26 application form was available from April 12 to May 19, 2025. Interested candidates should apply online for RRB ALP 2025 exam. RRB ALP Recruitment depends on the number of vacancies and requirements of the concerned departments. The notification was released after seven years. The exam was last conducted in 2018 wherein around 64,371 vacancies were filled to the post of Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) and Technician

A: 

Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) released notification for RRB ALP 2025-26 recruitment. A total of 9970 vacancies will be filled through this recruitment process. The exam is conducted for candidates in the age group of 18 to 30 years and who have completed Class 10/SSLC. The recruitment is done for the post of Assistant Loco Pilots and Technicians. This year, the age limit for ALP post has been revised. Earlier, the age limit for ALP was 18 to 28 years. The revised age limit is 18 to 30 years.

Age Limit

The maximum age limit is 30 years and minimum age limit is 18 years. The relaxation in the upper age limit given to different categories of candidates is given below.

In accordance with the eligibility criteria for RRB ALP, the age limit for Assistant Loco Pilots is set between 18 and 30 years. Candidates from different categories are eligible for certain relaxations in the RRB ALP age limit. The relaxation in the age limit is given below.

Q:   What is the RRB ALP application fees?
A: 

RRB ALP application fee is INR 500 for General and OBC categories while it is INR 250 for SC/ST/Ex-Serviceman/Female/Transgender/Minorities/Economically backward class. The application fee will be refunded to candidates after appearing in the first stage CBT. Candidates belonging to the General and OBC categories will get a partial refund of the application fee while SC/ST/Ex-Serviceman/ Female/Transgender/Minorities/Economically backward class will get a full refund of the application form

RRB ALP application form is released online to fill up vacancies for the post of Assistant Loco Pilot. The application form comprises several steps which candidates need to complete successfully. Candidates are not required to sent the hard copy of the application form. The steps to fill RRB ALP application form are given below:

  • Visit the official website of RRBs
  • Click on the RRB ALP notification
  • Register yourself for the exam with the required personal details
  • Fill your basic details, for example, your name, your parent’s name, contact information, mail-id etc.
  • After clicking on the submit button, you will receive an OTP
  • After the OTP is validated, fill the detailed application for

Q:   How many posts are there in RRB ALP?
A: 

RRB conducts RRB ALP & Technician exam to fill posts of assistant loco pilot and technicians for different railway zones across the country. A total of 9970 vacancies have been announced for RRB ALP 2025 exam (CEN 01/2025). In 2018, a total of 64,371 vacancies were announced for the exam. Out of these vacancies, 27,795 vacancies were for Assistant loco pilot and 36,576 were for Technicians

RRB ALP Exam Pattern

RRB ALP  exam is conducted in the following stages:

RRB ALP First Stage CBT: This will be conducted in online mode. The paper includes 75 objective-type questions (MCQs) and the total time given to complete the paper is 60 minutes.

RRB ALP Second Stage CBT: This stage will have two parts, Part A and Part B. Part will have 100 questions and Part B will have 75 questions. The time given to complete Part A and B are 90 minutes and 60 minutes respectively.

RRB ALP CBAT: This stage is only for those candidates who have applied for Assistant Loco Pilot posts. This phase is qualifying in nature.

Q:   Is CBAT mandatory for all posts in RRB ALP?
A: 

In RRB ALP & Technician exam, only those who have applied for Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) and cleared second stage of, need to appear for CBAT. CBAT is for the candidates who have applied for technician post only. Candidates equal to eight times the number of ALP vacancies are called for CBAT based on the performance in Part A of second stage CBT, subject to qualifying the Part B. Candidates are required to qualify in each of the test batteries of CBAT. The questions in CBAT are in English and Hindi only. There is no negative marking in CBAT. To draw the merit list of ALP,  70 per cent weightage is given to Part A of second stage CBT and 30 per cent in CBAT.

Q:   What is the pattern of question papers in RRB ALP?
A: 

In first two CBTs questions will come in MCQ format. The third stage is CBAT, where candidates will be given five test batteries. The CBT carries 75 objective-type multiple-choice questions from Mathematics, General Intelligence, and Reasoning, General Science and General awareness on current affairs. The test carries a total of 75 marks. The duration of the test is 60 minutes. The standard of questions in first stage CBT is framed as per the educational qualification prescribed for the posts. The pattern for second stage is divided into parts-A and B. Part A of the second stage CBT comprises 100 objective-type questions from Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, Basic Science and Engineering and General Awareness on Current Affairs. Part B carries questions based on the candidate's discipline.
