NCHMCT JEE 2017 Exam Pattern & Section-wise Difficulty Level
Overall, NCHMCT JEE exam was easy and confirming the same Sahil a student of Navy Children School said, “It was nice, it was good, kind of easy. GK section was a bit tough because you have to be very regular and study a lot for it. Rest all sections were easy. Aptitude for Service Sector section was a bit tricky. One had to put a lot of brain in solving that section. Other than that the difficulty level of all other sections was mediocre”. He also shared that the test paper was as expected.
A student of St Mary School, Vanshika shared that the exam was easy but the comprehension question (asked in English Section) was a little difficult. “Maths was not that difficult but consumed a lot of time. Logical reasoning was easy. GK was a little difficult. It was a little tricky”. She also shared that the GK section comprised of questions related to history and general topics. Not many questions were on Current Affairs.
“The paper was nice but lengthy. Maths section was difficult and lengthy” shared Rishab Kumar Parth of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Agra. He shared that Aptitude for Service Sector was the easiest “but the same question was repeated six times. One question asked in this section was that if in the middle of the road there is an accident then what would you do. Of course anyone would help and on this situation we had to answer four questions”. He further ranked NCHMCT JEE exam sections in decreasing order of difficulty which as per him was – Maths>English>Logical Reasoning>GK>Aptitude for Service Sector.
Contrary to Rishab, Pooja a student of St Thomas School felt, “Everyone is saying that Maths was quite tough but Maths wasn’t tough we simply couldn’t solve it. The questions asked in Maths section were not tough they were very basic”. Talking about the exam at the overall level, Pooja said, “The exam was quite easy. It was not so difficult that one cannot solve it. If I was to tell the section-wise difficulty level then Maths was OK. Reasoning was difficult. English very easy and Hotel Aptitude section was very very easy”. She further shared that she managed to complete her paper on time.
Two students had come to give NCHMCT JEE exam all the way from Allahabad. Raza Abidi who aspires to pursue Fashion Design course from abroad shared, “I feel very happy to give this exam. It was a very difficult paper. I felt that the Aptitude section was very difficult. Overall I enjoyed giving this paper. Logical Reasoning was the most difficult section. On the other hand, Siddharth of BHS Public School, Allahabad felt that the exam was quite good. “I was able to complete my paper on time. The marking scheme and number of questions asked was exactly the same as mentioned in the exam brochure. Maths was the most difficult section. Service Aptitude section was the easiest, the next in line was English, then Reasoning and finally GK. The comprehension asked in English was difficult”. Given a chance, Siddharth shared that he would like to secure admission in either IHM Mumbai, IHM Bangalore or IHM Delhi.
A student of ChandraBala Modi Academy, Tejas said that the, “Exam was good. The most difficult section was General Awareness. The second most difficult section was Numerical Ability and the easiest one was Aptitude for Service Sector. After the Aptitude section the easiest section was English followed by Logical Reasoning”. Elaborating further he said, “The test pattern was on the same lines as previous years' question papers and I was able to complete the paper on time”.
Ayush who took NCHMCT JEE 2017 exam in Lucknow shared that he was able to complete his exam on time. “Paper was good. Maths was the toughest section and it had some questions on Simple and Compound Interest which I did not know and so left those questions. General Awareness was also a little tough. Rest of the sections were easy. Service Aptitude was easiest followed by English and Numerical Ability”. Sona from Florence School Lucknow also shared that she was able to complete her exam on time. Talking about the difficulty level of the exam she said, “For me the exam was not too difficult and not too easy. I would say it was medium in difficulty. I felt the Maths section was difficult. It is not that the questions were difficult, they were just very confusing and not very direct”. Adding further she said “The difficulty level of English was also high as compared to last year. The comprehensions were long and the questions were not direct, you had to read then think and finally answer them”.
NCHMCT JEE 2017 Test Pattern as Compared to Past Years’ Papers
There were no surprises in NCHMCT JEE exam this year. On being asked if the test pattern of NCHMCT JEE 2017 was similar or different to previous years’ question papers Sahil said, “I have seen the past years’ question papers (of NCHMCT JEE). Some of the questions were repeated. The test paper pattern was approximately the same as past years’ papers. Type of questions were also approximately the same”. Raza Abidi who had also practiced the past 10 years papers for NCHMCT JEE shared, “I had gone through the past 10 years question papers for NCHMCT JEE exam and memorised all the questions asked in GK and Aptitude for Service Sector section. I can say with full confidence that I performed very well in these sections of today’s exam because all the questions asked were from the past years’ question papers”. He further went on to say that, “In fact 60% of the test paper was from past years’ question papers”.

Many students assume this section is easy and skip preparation for it. That is a mistake. Revise hospitality basics, food and beverage service, front office operations, and general etiquette to score well.

You should give at least 10 to 12 full mock tests in the last month. Space them out across four weeks. Always review your mistakes after every mock test.

No. Last month is for revision only. Starting new topics at this stage creates confusion and wastes time. Focus only on topics you have already studied and improve accuracy

You should study 6 to 8 hours daily in last month. Divide time across all sections. Give extra time to your weak areas. Avoid studying more than 9 hours.

Around 4 to 6 months of regular study is enough for NCHMCT JEE preparation. If basics are strong, even 2–3 months focused preparation can work.
