Steps to Follow in NCHMCT JEE 2017 Counselling Process

In the counselling round for NCHMCT JEE, candidates need to select their college preference after going through information provided by the respective college on their official websites. However, aspirants need to note that the college for admission will be allotted to them on the basis of their AIR, that is, merit and the college selected by them at the time of counselling.

NCHMCT JEE 2017 Counselling Flow

There are three rounds of counselling for admissions on the basis of NCHMCT JEE ranks. These are:

  • First Round of Counselling
  • Second Round of Counselling
  • Spot Round

The first two rounds of NCHMCT JEE 2017 counselling process are web based/online and in the Spot round or third round of counselling, students need to physically appear at the admission centre to complete the counselling process.

The tasks performed at the time of NCHMCT JEE counselling include:

  • Checking the eligibility of candidates
  • Verification of documents
  • Depositing of counselling and first semester fee
  • Selecting colleges as per preference

Note: Elaborating on how to select college preference at the time of counselling, the official information brochure states: “Candidates should give as many choices after careful evaluation of Institutes based on information available in their respective websites”.

After aspirants have selected their college preference, they have to fill the names of colleges as per their preference and also keep in mind the colleges that are available to them for admission on the basis of their rank in NCHMCT JEE 2017 and lock the same. This college preference list/choice list will be valid for two rounds of counselling.

Also, after students are allotted admission (or a seat) in a specific college on the basis of online counselling then they have to appear (physically) at a designated admission centre in order to complete the admission process. The tasks to be completed at the admission centre include:

  • Verification of documents
  • Submission of initial fee
  • Upgradation of choices
  • Collection of provisional admission/seat allotment letters

The official website informs that:

  • The number of colleges as well as seats may decrease or increase or decrease (marginally) for admissions. However, the same shall be mentioned on the official counselling website of NCHMCT JEE 2017.
  • Extra 5% to 15% seats may be offered over and above intake as per requirement to take into consideration ‘no shows’ as well as ‘drop-outs’.

Also, no hard copy of the allotment letter would be sent to any aspirant. All aspirants need to take a print of the online allotment letter itself.

While taking part in the first two rounds of NCHMCT JEE counselling, aspirants are provided with two options which are - Float and Freeze. If an aspirant selects the "float" option then this means that he/she is applying for upgradation. On the other hand, "freeze" option implies no upgradation. Informing about the same the official website of NCHMCT JEE counselling informs: "Those candidates who have opted option as “Float”, are also required to sign a declaration that in the event of allotment of a new seat in the 2nd round, their earlier allotted seat would be automatically cancelled and the cancelled seat would be offered to the candidate next in the merit who might have sought that seat through his/her earlier submitted choices". Elaborating further, "In case the candidates have exercised option “Freeze” (for no-upgradation), then he/she would not be considered for seat allotment in the 2 nd round of Counselling. However, such candidates will be considered for category upgradation against the same allotted seat".

NCHMCT JEE 2017: Admit card at time of counselling

The admit card issued to aspirants at the time of the entrance exam needs to be preserved by them as the same needs to be produced at the time of counselling. If any aspirant does not have his/her duly attested admit card, he/she will not be allowed to take part in the counselling process.

NCHMCT JEE 2017 Counselling Process: Fee to be paid

When appearing for the counselling round, candidates need to pay seat acceptance fee amounting to Rs 57,500. Here, Rs 1,000 is the counselling fee and the rest (Rs 56,500) is the academic fee for the first semester of the hotel management course.
