NCHMCT JEE 2018 Section-Wise Exam Analysis

NCHMCT JEE 2018 exam was held on April 28. A three hours duration exam, NCHMCT JEE was conducted from 10 am to 1 pm across 33 test cities in the country. The questions asked in NCHMCT JEE 2018 were as expected and the test pattern was similar to that of past years’ papers. Right after giving the exam students shared that the questions asked were similar to those asked in the past two editions of this hotel management entrance exam.

As is the case with the exam each year the Numerical Ability section was the most difficult as compared to all other sections of the exam. In the English section there were four reading comprehension passages which were not that difficult to attempt. Overall, NCHMCT JEE 2018 exam was easy but the questions asked were put forth in a tricky way and so aspirants had to read each and every question with a lot of attention. The cut-offs for admissions basis NCHMCT JEE 2018 would be similar to that of last year.

NCHMCT JEE 2018 Marking Scheme

The marking scheme for NCHMCT JEE 2018 was as expected and shared by the National Council of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT). The total number of questions asked and the maximum weightage of marks that aspirants can secure in the exam is as mentioned in the table below:

NCHMCT JEE 2018 Section-Wise Exam Analysis

The section-wise analysis of questions asked in the hotel management entrance exam is mentioned below. On the basis of NCHM JEE 2018 aspirants can secure admission in 21 Central Institutes of Hotel Management, 22 State Government Institutes of Hotel Management, one Public Sector Undertaking and 14 Private Institutes of Hotel Management affiliated with NCHMCT. Apart from this, a total of 12 Food Craft Institutes and 2 SIHMs (running only diploma level programme) also offer admission to students. All these colleges offer standardised course curriculum as prescribed by NCHMCT for the various programmes that they offer. NCHMCT JEE 2018 Questions asked in Numerical Ability and Analytical Aptitude Section

Basic Mathematics questions were asked in the Numerical Ability section. Most of the questions asked in this section were of school level algebra. Some of the topics from which questions were asked include – Time and Work, Work and Wages, Time-Distance-Speed, Compound Interest, Simple Interest, Area of Triangles & Rectangles, Investment, Percentage & Laws, LCM, HCF and Ratios.

NCHMCT JEE 2018 Questions asked in Reasoning and Logical Deduction Section

This section of NCHM JEE exam comprised of questions that could be solved by applying basic logic. Questions asked in this section were equally spread across all the topics. Most of the difficult questions in this section were from number series.

NCHMCT JEE 2018 Questions asked in General Knowledge & Current Affairs Section

Most of the questions asked in section were on recent happenings in India and the world. Some questions were related to recent events that occurred between India and China, another question was on who is the President of China. Apart from these, questions were on the newest state of the Indian sub-continent and others related to basic demography of India.

NCHMCT JEE 2018 Questions asked in English Language Section

As expected, the English section of NCHMCT JEE exam comprised of questions related to Reading Comprehension and Vocabulary. There were a total of four Reading Comprehension passages in the exam which was followed by 4-5 questions. The questions asked in this section were of Class 12 level. Vocabulary questions were on Antonyms, Synonyms, Fill in the Blanks, Mark the Correct Sentence, etc.

NCHMCT JEE 2018 Questions asked in Aptitude for Service Sector Section

The Aptitude for Service Sector section had questions related to the hotel industry and their services. This is usually the easiest section of the exam but the only thing worth paying attention to here is that there is graded marking in this section and students need to justify why they have selected a particular option. Some of the questions asked in this section were:

  • How would you react if you see a person who has met with an accident?
  • How would you take a decision if you were working at different posts (like: Manager, Housekeeping, Receptionist) in the hospitality industry?
  • How would you react if a customer misbehaved with you?
  • How would make a disabled person comfortable?

Many students assume this section is easy and skip preparation for it. That is a mistake. Revise hospitality basics, food and beverage service, front office operations, and general etiquette to score well.

No. Last month is for revision only. Starting new topics at this stage creates confusion and wastes time. Focus only on topics you have already studied and improve accuracy

You should study 6 to 8 hours daily in last month. Divide time across all sections. Give extra time to your weak areas. Avoid studying more than 9 hours.
