Jamia Millia Islamia releases the JMI entrance exam eligibility criteria in its admission prospectus. Only candidates who fulfill the university's eligibility requirements for a specific course can participate in JMI counselling and admission process. The JMI eligibility criteria 2026 for undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, PG diploma, advanced diploma and certificate programmes will be released on the official website - admission.jmi.ac.in. Once online, aspiring students can download the JMI admission prospectus 2026-27 PDF.

Students planning to appear for JMI entrance exam 2026 must apply by registering themselves. Before applying for the exam, candidates must check the eligibility requirements for their target course to avoid disqualification at a later stage of admission. Q:   What is the selection criteria for JMI entrance exam?
A:

JMI selection criteria includes shortlisting of candidates on the basis of scores obtained in JMI exam. For some courses candidates are required to also appear for Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI). The cut off for each course is released after the selection procedure is over and candidates are called for counselling and document verification. Candidates should go through the selection process mentioned in the e prospectus of JMI for their respective course. 

Q:   What are the eligibility criteria to apply for Jamia Millia Islamia Entrance Exam?
A:

The eligibility criteria for each course is different. Candidates are advised to check the eligibility criteria before applying for the Jamia Millia Islamia Entrance Exam. For UG course, candidates must have passed Intermediate with at least 50 per cent marks from any board. For PG course, graduate degree with at least 50 per cent marks from any recognised university is required.

Q:   How can I apply for Jamia Millia Islamia entrance exam?
A:

Candidates have to apply online to appear in JMI Entrance Exam. The application forms are released on the official website of JMI. Candidates have to first create an account by filling their basic details and then fill the detailed application form, select their course, upload required documents and pay the application fee. The registration window usually remains open for a month.

Note - In case of (i) (b), a candidate must either produce “a valid certificate of passing at least 6 credits of computer science courses (with at least C Grade/50% marks) from any Govt. approved mode at 10+02/ graduation level OR Complete the bridge courses from the department in the first semester.
M.Ed.

At least 50% marks or an equivalent grade in B.Ed./B.A. B.Ed./B.Sc. B.Ed./B.El.Ed.

D.El.Ed. with an undergraduate degree (with 50% marks in each).
Note - Those employed but on leave for the academic session may be admitted as full-time students, provided they fulfill all other requirements.

M.F.A.(Painting)  Four Year B.F.A Degree course with at least 60% marks
M.Tech. (Environmental Science & Engineering) Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Metallurgical, Mining, Agricultural Engineering or any other equivalent and relevant degree in Engineering and Technology only with not less than 60% marks in absolute system or equivalent grade of 6.75 on a 10 point scale.
LL.M. (Regular) LL.B. with not less than 50% marks in the aggregate or equivalent grade points.
MBA Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with at least 50% marks in aggregate or an equivalent grade. The applicant should submit the proof at the time of admission.
M.Com.(Business Management)  B.Com./BBS/BBA/BIBF/B.Com.(Pass) or an equivalent examination with 55% marks in aggregate or B.Com./BBS/BBA/BIBF(Hons.) with not less than 50% marks in the aggregate.
M.Arch. (Architecture Pedagogy) Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or equivalent degree recognized by Council of Architecture with not less than 50% marks in absolute system or a minimum grade corresponding to 50% marks on a 10 point scale.

JMI 2026 Eligibility Criteria for PG Diploma Courses

Candidates have to meet the following eligibility criteria for admission to PG Diploma courses through JMI entrance exam.

PG Diploma in Computer Applications Bachelor’s degree with 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade and Mathematics as one of the subjects at 10th.
PG Diploma in Iranology (Part Time) Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 45% marks in aggregate.
PG Diploam in Urdu Mass Media At least 45% marks in Urdu/Persian/Arabic at under graduate level.
PG Diploma in Translation Proficiency in English (Self-Financed) (Part Time) Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution or an equivalent examination with not less than 45% marks in aggregate.
OR
Certificate in Translation Proficiency from any recognized University and Senior Secondary/ Higher Secondary or Equivalent School certificate with not less than 50% marks in aggregate of best 5-papers.
PG Diploma in Still Photography & Visual Communication (Self Financed) Graduation in any discipline (10+2+3) with not less than 50% marks in aggregate.
PG Diploma in Disaster Management (Self-Finance) Evening Graduate in any stream with not less than 45% marks.
PG Diploma in Entrepreneurship, Innovation & Design Thinking (Self-Finance) Applicants must hold a Bachelor Degree (10+2+3) from a recognized university in any discipline, with at least 50% marks in aggregate or an equivalent grade.

JMI Eligibility Criteria: Age Limit

Universities in India set upper or lower age limits for admission to their courses. However, JMI does not impose age restrictions. There is no upper age limit to appear in the JMI 2026 exam. But, candidates securing the same rank and marks in the JMI exam will be given preference if they are higher in age than the others.

Once Jamia Millia Islamia University releases the admission prospectus for 2026-27, candidates can follow below process to check eligibility criteria for offered courses.

  1. Visit official website - admission.jmi.ac.in
  2. Click on Prospectus link given on the top right corner of homepage.
  3. JMI Admission Brochure 2026-27 will open. Download the PDF in your laptop, mobile phone or desktop.
  4. Scroll down or use Ctrl+F function and find Entrance Tests and Admission Schedule.
  5. The screen will display course-wise exam schedule and eligibility criteria.
Q:   When will CUET PG application for JMI admissions 2026 begin?
A:

The National Testing Agency has started CUET PG application process for admission to Jamia Millia Islamia. The window opened on December 14, 2025 and will be closed on January 20, 2026 (11.50 PM). Students looking for admission at JMI through CUET PG must apply for the entrance test.

Q:   Where can I download JMI admit card 2026?
A:

Jamia Millia Islamia will release the admit card for JMI entrance exam 2026 on its Admission Portal. Students appearing for the entrance exam must take the admit card with them to the exam centre. Failure to do so will result in denial of entry to the exam hall. The JMI admit card will be given to only those candidates who will apply for the exam.

A:

Jamia Millia Islamia, the exam conducting body declares the JMI entrance exam final result on its official website. Candidates who will take the entrance exam can check their result by visiting the website and clicking on Result tab on homepage, under the latest Updates.

JMI Entrance Exam 2026 Application Form 

An aspirant is advised to fill and submit JMI Entrance Exam 2026 application form only after ensuring they fulfill the eligibility criteria for desried course. Jamia Millia Islamia will release the JMI online form 2026, tentatively in March on its official website. Once the registration window is open, candidates will have to fill out their personal information,  such as name, contact information, date of birth, etc., educational details, and upload relevant documents, such as passport size photograph and signature. After adding required details, candidates have to submit their registration form by paying the application fee online. Only students who will successfully fill and submit the JMI application form will be issued JMI admit card to appear for the exam.
