JMI Counselling Process 2026: Provisional Merit List, Counselling Schedule & Documents Required

Jamia Millia Islamia conducts counselling in offline mode, after the entrance exam is conducted. The process to participate in JMI entrance exam counselling is given here.

• Firstly, candidates must check the list of provisionally selected candidates to look for their name. The list is displayed on Jamia’s website, https://admission.jmi.ac.in/. Only students with their names on merit list will be able to participate in counselling. The schedule for JMI counselling is published on the website for different courses offered through the JMI Entrance Exam, along with the provisional list of selected candidates. No intimation will be sent to the candidates by post.
• The list of candidates selected for interview, wherever applicable, shall be displayed in ascending order of their Entrance Test Roll No. and will be displayed on Jamia’s website on the date given in the admission schedule. The university releases the admission schedule for JMI courses in its prospectus. It includes tentative dates for the dislay of list of selected candidates for each course and department.
• Selected candidates must complete their admission formalities on or before the date notified as per the Admission Schedule provided in the Admission List. The result of the candidate should be complete in all respects on the day of admission. They are required to bring their JMI Entrance Test 2026 Admit Card and all the other attested copies. Failing to do so will result in the cancellation of candidature.
• Candidates will get the original certificates after verification. But, JMI may retain the original transcripts/ results of the qualifying examination for TWO months from the start date of the session. 
• Selected candidates will have to fill Student Registration Form (to be obtained from the concerned Dean’s Office/ Department/ Centre) giving full details about themselves. Wherever applicable, the candidates will also indicate their choice of courses they wish to opt for as subsidiary/ optional.
• In cases where many courses/ branches are in one programme, the candidates will be allotted seats as per the preference filled in the application form, strictly as per merit and JMI admission rules. For the upgradation of course/ branch, the candidate has to take admission and fill out a form at the time of admission if he/ she wants to retain the allotted course/ branch or wants to upgrade. The upgrade will be done strictly as per merit and JMI admission rules. In no case, down gradation shall be allowed. The candidate is not allowed to change the preference after the form edit date is over.
• Candidates must submit Transfer Certificate/ Migration Certificate in original within 60 days from the date of admission. Failing to do so can result in cancellation of candidate's admission.
• If required, JMI may consider spot registration for admission from the list of selected and waitlisted candidates strictly in order of merit provided that they fulfil the eligibility criteria. The details about spot registration may be provided on the University website.
• The notice for commencement of classes will be issued seprately by Jamia, on its official website. So, students must keep a check on the university website to complete the admission.

Note - If a provisonally admitted candidate fails to submit the result of qualifying examination by October 31, 2026 for verification, the university cancel his/ her admission and forfeit the fee.

As per the official website of Jamia Millia Islamia, it accepts admission fee in only three modes. These are Cash (through Bank), Online, or UPI. The website also mentions that, "The fees shall be paid for one academic session at the time of admission. However, on the request basis, the concern Dean may allow to the fee deposit in two installments for first year and all the remaining years of the programs."

• In case of cash mode, candidates have to deposit their admission fee at either of the branches of Jamia Millia Islamia - Indian Bank or Bank of India. For this, applicants will have to collect a Pay-in-Slip from their concerned faculty/department/centre's office. If a student wants to deposit their course admission fee in any other branch, they can generate a Fee Payment Challan online on JMI's fee payment website - jmi.ac.in/feepayment.
• In case of online mode, applicants can pay their admission fee via Net Banking, Credit Cards, Debit Cards or UPI at jmi.ac.in/feepayment.

Note: Earlier JMI used to accept Demand Draft also, which is not the case now. Jamia also lays down some rules regarding payment of admission fee, which are mentioned in the admission prospectus for JMI entrance exam 2026-27. Candidates must make sure to check the rules before making the transaction.
