Baby IIMs refer to the campuses which were launched after 2011. These include IIM Amritsar, IIM Bodh Gaya, IIM Kashipur, IIM Trichy, IIM Nagpur, IIM Sambalpur, IIM Sirmaur, IIM Visakhapatnam and IIM Jammu. Baby IIMs offer full-time MBA, Executive MBA and Doctoral programmes. IIM Jammu also offers 5-year Integrated programmes in Management. Despite being less than 2 decades old, Baby IIMs have been able to manage a good record of summer and final placements. Average salary offer at Baby IIMs ranges between INR 14 lakh to 20 lakh per annum, every year. Baby IIMs are a great option for MBA for aspirants who score between 90-95 percentile in the CAT exam. Why are baby IIMs called so?

Baby IIMs are those Indian Institute of Management campuses which were established after 2011. Since they are the newest bunch of IIMs, they are called Baby IIMs. These institutes are mentored by top six IIMs. The course syllabus and pedagogy are same as older IIMs. Having campuses with latest technology and infrastructure, these Baby IIMs are even ranked among top 50 MBA colleges in India, in the MHRD-NIRF rankings.

Baby IIMs: Courses Offered

Baby IIMs offer full-time MBA programmes with specialisations, Executive MBA programmes with specialisations as well as Doctoral programmes. IIM Bodhgaya and IIM Jammu also offer dual degree (BTech+MBA) and five-year integrated programmes (BBA+MBA). Admission to PG courses is based on CAT score and Integrated score is through JIPMAT.

Baby IIMs Cut Offs for MBA Admission

The qualifying CAT cut offs for Baby IIMs is between 85-94 percentile for General category students. The final cut offs are higher and can go up to 95-97 percentile. Check below the qualifying CAT cut offs of Baby IIMs for General categories.

Baby IIMs Admission and Selection Criteria

Baby IIMs follow the same selection process for admission, that older IIMs do, i.e. Written Ability Test and Personal Interview. For 2026 batch however, on interview has been conducted. These new IIMs, conduct first round of admission process through a common process. IIM Kashipur, IIM Raipur, IIM Ranchi and IIM Tiruchirapalli have conducted a common selection round called Joint Admission Process or JAP. IIM Bodhgaya, IIM Jammu and IIM Sirmaur conduct Common Admission Process or CAP. Candidates planning to pursue MBA from baby IIMs must appear for CAT 2026.
