I never planned to study Masters in Business Administration (MBA). However, as fate goes, I am here in Pondicherry University studying MBA. Now as the market, industry and manufacturing sector grows, the need for managers rises, too. However, with over 4,400 MBA colleges in India, over three lakh students graduate as an MBA every year, this means the competition is tough.

As we study, if the demand is more than the need then the value of the product decreases. So, the value of the managers also decreases. So, if you are not that competent or valuable for the company, they will not hire you.

  • Today, every professional is trying to add whatever possible degrees to their resume in order to get selected among the long list. As an MBA student, I also do the same. In a YouTube video I watched, the orator said that all the degrees that can help you as a manager pursue them and at the time of placement fill your certificate file. Here in PU, there are a lot of add-on courses that students can attend after the classes from 5:30-7:30 pm. I have taken up the German language. I know in the future it will help me thrive.
  • Every year, DMS PU arranges its signature programme called SYNAPSE. In this programme different business tycoons, speakers, entrepreneurs come to speak about different aspects and their success stories, available opportunities in the business, etc. As advised by my seniors, I thoroughly discussed several things with them in my free time and got to know about their journey. I got some contacts, too. This is the age of information systems and social media. I used social media as a tool to connect with them. In this informational system era, the more contacts you have the more successful you will be.
  • When I researched the Dos and don’ts for placement, I got to know about different digital courses available and the best thing is that it helps the most during placements. Being a 90s child, I had some difficulties, later I overcame them. Personally, I have recently completed a digital marketing course by Google. They issue digital certificates on completing the course and you can show this in your CV.
  • Educating yourself about what is happening around you is the best thing that can educate you about the new technologies, changes and policies. Therefore, it is better to stay connected with environmental changes and technologies. New technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data, etc., can place you ahead of the line.
  • One of my professors advised me to learn three new things every year and I am following her words.

PU‑CET (UG) has different papers for different subjects. Applicants must choose subjects based on the course they want. Each subject is a separate MCQ paper with its own marks. Your overall score is the total of the papers you attempt.

When filling the PU-CET form for UG courses, one must choose preferred cities. The university assigns the exam centre based on their choices and available seats. The exact centre name and address are given on the hall ticket.

The PU-CET UG syllabus primarily follows Class 11 and 12 topics in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics, depending on the course. Most questions are NCERT level. Learn the basic theory first, then practice enough MCQs from each chapter.

The PU-CET UG cut‑off varies based on exam difficulty, number of students, and seats. One needs a minimum score or percentage to be on the merit list. Different categories may have different qualifying marks for the preferred course.

Study NCERT books for all subjects, especially Class 11 and 12. Practice considerable MCQs and solve past papers to learn question types. Make a study timetable, revise every week, and fix weak topics early. Take mock tests with real to build speed and accuracy.
