WAT-PI recall at IIM Indore

Securing an excellent percentile in CAT exam is the dream of every MBA aspirant. However, with this, only half the battle is won. The remaining half gets completed when one clears the WAT-PI at the top B-schools.

With immense competition around, aiming for the IIMs is on the mind of every management aspirant. Amongst numerous candidates who appeared for 2016, Biswanath Chakraborty too tried his hand at the exam, and excelled in the same. Now was one of the deciding factors of his life – which B-school would he receive a call from? And then, he received of the most exciting news of his life – a call from IIM Indore.

Knowing that this was an opportunity that he could not let go off, he made sure that he was all geared up for the WAT-PI. The interview was scheduled for April 3, 2016 in Kolkata. Here is what Biswanath recalls:

Personal Interview

Three panelists were conducting the interview. Here is what happened at the PI:

P1: Why MBA after topping university?

Me: Explained.

P2: Aren't you fickle minded?

Me: The question was a little surprising. I replied, “Sir with my technical knowledge, I want to diversify and gain management knowledge, which will eventually will help my entrepreneurship ventures.

P3: Who is your role model?

Me: Raghuram Rajan

P2: He went into academics but you will surely go into corporate.

Me:  I was stumped with this sentence, but gave him the best explanation I could have given.

P1: What is rank of a matrix?

Me: I completely forgot sir.

P3: I guess we have to spend more time with you now.

P2: You are the topper should have known.

Me: Sir, I studied about it in the first year; I am totally out of touch.

P1: Is mod x differentiable?

Me: No sir not at x=0; explained with limits.

P1: Is |x|^2 differentiable?

Me: I don't know what I was thinking, First I gave the correct answer that sir x^2 and |x|^2 are same, but as I started proving with limits, I got completely confused, as my brain had taken the toll of waiting for 3 hours, and I said it is not differentiable.

P1: Have you heard about Tesla?

Me: Yes sir, I saw about Tesla 3 model in the newspaper yesterday. It is a fully electrical car that has been developed for sustainable energy program. Told them about Elon Musk and his space X program.

P1: What is the space X programming?

Me: Sir it is about making habitable regions in Mars.

P1: You haven't read a lot I guess.

Me: Sir I just went through his wiki page that's all. That was it. I said thank you and left.

IIM Raipur decides to increase PGP intake
