IIM Raipur Highlights 2026
Indian Institute of Management Raipur was established by the Government of India and the Ministry of Human Resources Development. It is the 10th IIM set up in the country. The institute offers several Management courses at the PG, Certificate and PhD levels. The answer to this question of whether an average student can get into IIM can be both yes and no depending on the definition of an average student.
- Based on Academics (Class 10/ Class 12/ Graduation): While a student with average scores in Class 10, Class 12 and graduation with a good CAT score certainly has good chances of getting a call from IIM-A, chances are less for someone with an average CAT score.
- Based on student category (General or Reserved): While it is tough for a General category average student to grab a seat at IIM due to high score requirements, a reserved category student can get admission being at average scores as well.
- Based on past work experience, diversity and other factors: Gender and academic diversity is also a factor on which students are shortlisted at IIM. IIMs judge the past academic category based on the degree obtained by the students before MBA and then a weightage is allotted based on that. For Engineers, the percentage for scoring the highest marks is higher as compared with other streams
- Performance in selection rounds: Once you make it to the final selection rounds, i.e., AWT/PI process, it can be considered a fresh start. IIM Raipur cutoff for CAT is generally not released on a public platform and is accessible to candidates who appeared in the exam using their registered login ID and password. IIM Raipur course admissions are mostly entrance-based. The institute accepts the CAT entrance exam for its flagship MBA programme. It also offers an MBA in Public Policy and Governance for a duration of two years, which is only eligible for Chhattisgarh-domiciled candidates. IIM Raipur Application Process for MBA
The institute offers admission through JAP. Interested candidates must check out the steps below to understand the JAP admission process to be eligible for MBA admission.
IIM Raipur MBA admission process is conducted through the Joint Admission Process 2026 (JAP) for shortlisting candidates. Candidates with a valid CAT score must apply via JAP, a common admission window to offer admission to four IIMs, including Raipur. Earlier this year, the institute was part of IIM CAP. To apply for MBA admission, aspirants must follow the JAP admission process given below:
Registration for Joint Admission Process
JAP admission will open after the announcement of the CAT 2026 results. Candidates who appeared in the CAT exam are only eligible to apply through JAP, wherein they have to mention the name of the institute. (IIM Raipur, IIM Kashipur, IIM Ranchi, and IIM Tiruchirappalli), as these four follow the JAP admission procedure. Candidates have to provide their APAAR ID (mandatory) while filling out the JAP application form.
Shortlisting of candidates for the PI for JAP
A shortlist for each category will be prepared based on CAT 2026 scores to participate in the Personal Interview round. The cutoff percentile will be published on JAP portal at a later stage across different categories based on the PI. Class 10, 12 and graduation percentage, work experience, gender diversity and academic background will also be taken into consideration while preparing the final selection list.
Seat allocation & confirmation
Once the candidate clears all the rounds of the JAP selection process, students will be called for final seat allotment. The admission offer will be released to the students via email. To confirm the seats, students have to pay the required admission fee as mentioned in the offer letter released by JAP.

A candidate who wishes to withdraw admission from IIM Raipur, will be refunded the entire fee paid by the candidate after deduction of INR 1000. Candidate who withdraws after the last date as specified by the institute, the fee will be refunded after deducting hostel and other charges applicable.
Candidates applying for admission to the MBA at IIM Raipur should have qualified for the CAT exam. Check below the CAT application fee:
