The petition challenges AIIMS's decision to skip the spot admission round, which petitioners claim was supposed to happen after the open admission round for INI-CET 2025. The Delhi High Court will hear the plea for the January 2025 session counselling process on April 4, 2025.

INI CET 2025 Counselling

The Delhi High Court has asked the Centre and AIIMS to submit their response on a plea alleging the non-conduction of the INI CET 2025 January session spot round admission.  The counselling process for admission to MD/ MS/ MCh/ DM/ MDS and MD courses in AIIMS and other participating colleges is conducted based on based on Institutes of National Importance Combined Entrance Test (INI-CET) despite the availability of vacant seats. However, despite the availability of vacant seats, the authorities did not conduct the spot round admission.

Following this, Justice Vikas Mahajan urged the Centre and AIIMS Delhi after a group of doctors who took the INI-CET January 2025 exam filed a plea. The case was heard on March 28, and the next hearing is set for April 4. The petition challenges AIIMS' decision to skip the spot admission round, which petitioners say was supposed to happen after the open admission round for INI CET 2025.

Advocate Tanvi Dubey, representing the petitioners, showed the court AIIMS' prospectus, which clearly mentioned a spot round if needed. She asked the court to order AIIMS to hold the spot admission round immediately.

The AIIMS INI CET 2025 January session examination was conducted on November 10 while the results were announced on November 16. According to the appeal filed by the petitioner, the AIIMS prospectus stated to candidates that seat allocation would be done in an organized manner, with first and second rounds of counselling, an open round, and a spot round if necessary.

On the other hand, AIIMS has argued that the petition was misconceived. The authorities notified that the admission to vacant postgraduate seats could be filled in spot round counselling of INI CET 2025 exam subject to the approval by the respective authorities.
