The NEET mock test has been curated by Shiksha.com experts who have closely observed the past years’ NEET question papers and NEET analysis to understand the question types, difficulty level and paper pattern. Solving the NEET prep MCQs given on this page will help them get a simulated experience of taking the NEET 2024 exam.

Q:   How many Sets are there in the NEET question paper?

A:

There are generally four Sets of NEET question papers, which are further segregated into six parts. The names of the NEET 2024 question paper Sets and codes are Q, R, S and T. For the NEET 2024 re-exam, the question paper sets were A, B, C and D. The multiple Sets and codes in the NEET question papers ensure that there is no malpractice in the conduct of the exam. The names of the Sets and codes of the regional NEET question papers are different from the English ones. While distributing the question papers of NEET invigilators had to ensure that they did not give the same set question paper to two consecutive candidates. Once candidates are given the NEET question paper by invigilators, they need to check whether the question paper and test booklet, or answer sheet is of the same code. In case of a mismatch, they need to bring the matter to the invigilators notice. In case they submit the NEET test booklet with a different code from that of the NEET question paper, their exam will stand cancelled.

Q:   Do all the Sets of NEET question papers carry the same questions?

A:

Although the questions are the same in all Sets of the NEET question paper, the order of the sections and questions vary from set to set. The different order of the sections and questions ensure that there is no malpractice conducted during the exam. Even if some questions are absolutely different in separate Sets or languages, the topics and chapters covered and difficulty level remain similar to ensure normalisation. Hence, it can be said that NTA Sets a common question paper carrying 200 questions, after which the questions are distributed across four Sets and six subsets of the NEET question paper. The subjects, and the questions within the subjects are shuffled for each of the NEET question paper Sets. This allows a parity in terms of topics covered and difficulty level, as well as allows avoidance of malpractice.

Q:   What is the total number of questions in NEET?

A:

The total number of questions in the NEET question paper is 200, out of which 180 questions will have to be attempted. Each of the three NEET subjects will be divided into two sections and each subject will carry an equal weightage. While Section A carries 35 questions, 15 questions are there in Section B. While all 35 questions have to be attempted in Section A, 10 out of 15 questions will have to be attempted in Section B. Test-takers must ensure that they do not attempt any extra question in Section B. Although there will not be any penalty in terms of marks, it would incur loss of time.

NEET 2024 Exam Pattern and Structure

The NEET 2024 exam pattern is expected to remain the same as that of last year. The pattern underwent changes in terms of structure, number of questions and duration in the past two years. Continuing with the same pattern and NEET syllabus has brought a sense of relief to students who do not have to change their preparation strategy or get accustomed to a new pattern. The following table brings the NEET 2023 exam pattern and structure. It is expected that the pattern will remain the same for NEET 2024 as well.

Q:   Will NEET 2025 have descriptive questions?

A:

As per the NEET exam pattern, the examination will only have objective type multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Hence, there is no possibility of having descriptive questions in NEET. Moreover, given the fact that it is an entrance exam, there is not much significance of the descriptive questions or theoritical knowledge. Each question will carry four answer options and test-takers will have to select the correct answer option and mark it on the OMR sheet.

Q:   What type of questions are there in the NEET question papers?

A:
The question types in the NEET question paper is objective and multiple-choice type. Each question carries four answer options. The difficulty level of the questions range from moderate to tough. The questions are asked from the prescribed NEET syllabus. Since NEET is a paper-pencil-based test (PBT), test-takers are given OMR sheet wherein they have to mark the correct answer option through blue or black ballpoint pen provided at the exam centre. While leaving the exam centre, candidates will have to submit the test booklet or the OMR sheet and rough sheet booklet to the invigilator. They will be allowed to carry the NEET question paper with them, outside the exam hall.

Q:   Who sets the NEET question paper?

A:
NTA is the authority behind the question paper of NEET. The questions are sent in by different professors and NTA selects the questions for the examination. No single person is responsible for designing the question paper. Generally the NEET question papers are set by an expert committee or panel of subject experts who later review the answer key challenges. Candidates may find questions from previous years' NEET question papers as well. This is why experts suggest solving previous years' question papers for NEET preparation.

Q:   From where can I get the sample papers of NEET? Where I can perform the mock tests?

A:

NEET sample papers or NEET mock tests are available on various platforms. NTA also releases previous years' NEET question papers and mock tests. If you have enrolled in a coaching institute, then you can also avail the NEET sectional and full-length mock tests. While in some platforms, the NEET sample papers or mock tests are paid, there are some platforms, where the NEET mock tests are unpaid. In Shiksha.com, the NEET mock tests are provided for free. Along with the section-wise questions, it also provides the answer keys. Click on the below link to avail the NEET mock tests.

Q:   Does NTA release NEET answer keys and question papers together?

A:

No, the National Testing Agency (NTA) does not release NEET answer keys and question papers together. While releasing the NEET provisional result, NTA releases candidates' OMR sheets. The final NEET answer key is released in the form of a single PDF document, carrying the keys for all sets of the NEET question papers. The hardcopy of the NEET question papers are given by NTA on the day of the exam. Being a paper-pencil based test, candidates are allowed to carry the question papers outside the exam hall. In general, NTA releases the NEET question papers of previous years on its official website few months after the exam is conducted. NTA has released the NEET 2023 question papers of English and Hindi languages. However, the NEET 2022 question papers are not available on the official website yet. It is expected that the question papers of NEET 2022 will be released soon.

FAQs Regarding NEET 2024 Prep Questions

Q: When should I start taking NEET mock test?

A: NEET mock test should be taken after the basic preparation is over and the entire syllabus has been covered. Taking mock test after NEET preparation will help students gauge their preparation level and also guide them on which sections or topics need extra emphasis. Q: Should I opt for sectional or full-length mock test for NEET?

A: During the preparation period for NEET, both sectional as well as full-length mock tests are useful. The sectional mock tests have to be taken after completing each subject. This would help you to gauge your preparation level and also help in understanding the areas of improvement. Once the entire NEET syllabus is completed, you should take full-length mock tests to assess the entire preparation. Generally students tend to take the NEET mock tests three to four months prior to the exam. Hence, when it comes to the final stage of preparation, ideally students should take full-length mock tests. However, if a student wants to revise a particular section or subject, then it is advisable that they take sectional mock tests or revision or practice purpose.

Q: What is the difficulty level of NEET?

A: Based on the past few years’ analysis of NEET, the overall difficulty level is moderate to tough. The NEET 2023 difficulty level was slightly easier than that of last year. In terms of sections, Chemistry was termed as the toughest section followed by Physics and Biology. Even though Biology has the highest weightage in the paper, the difficulty level was easy, except a few analytical questions. Having said that, it must also be noted that the difficulty level of an exam is subjective and depends on the preparation level and the strengths and weaknesses of test takers. In short, the better one is prepared, better are the chances of finding the paper easy.

Q: What is the ratio of Class 11 and Class 12 syllabus coverage in NEET?

A: There is no specific or defined ratio of Class 11 and Class in which questions are set from the NEET syllabus. It varies from year to year. Based on the previous year NEET question paper analysis, it has been observed that the ratio of the Class 12 syllabus is higher than that of Class 12 syllabus. Here we present the subject-wise ratio of Class 11 and Class 12 NEET syllabus based on last year's analysis.

Physics
Class 11 - 40%
Class 12 - 60%
Chemistry:
Class 11 - 46%
Class 12 - 54%
Biology:
Class 11 - 53%
Class 12 - 47%.

Q: What is the ideal time and method to take NEET mock tests?

A: Candidates must ensure that they take the NEET mock test in a proctored manner within a simulated environment. Hence, ideally students should take mock test in the exam timing, from 2 PM to 5.20 PM, without any break. This would help them get adjusted to the exam taking environment. Moreover, the test should be taken without any break. It must also be ensured that they take the test in a quite environment either alone or with a group of fellow NEET aspirants. Creating a simulated test-taking experience is important. While a number of students take the NEET mock tests at coaching institutes, some prefer to take it at their home. Irrespective of the location, the above factors must be followed to get the best out of the NEET mock test.

Q: What should I do after taking NEET mock test?

A: After taking the NEET mock test, candidates will have to calculate the scores. Once they do that, they should get their performance analysed by an expert or mentor. The objective of the analysis is to provide an indepth viewpoint on their performance. Based on the accuracy level and the mode of taking the test, candidates will get to know about their strong and weak areas, areas of improvement, approach towards the NEET question paper and time management. Based on the analysis, students will have to device or modify the preparation strategy accordingly. At the last month before the test, there is not much scope left for the preparation, and after the analysis of NEET mock test, they should focus on finalising the test-taking strategy.

Q: Which are the best books to prepare for NEET 2024?

A: NCERT books are considered to be the best resources or study materials for NEET preparation. After completing the syllabus, students often refer to other books apart from the NCERT textbooks. Some of the best books for NEET preparation are as follows:

1. Dinesh's Objective for biology
2. Trueman's Biology VOL-I&II
3. MTG's Fingertips
4. RD Sharma for Mathematics
5. HC Verma for Physics

Apart from the above mentioned books, aspirants must also go through and solve previous years’ NEET question papers.

Q: What is a good score in NEET mock test?

A: The total marks of NEET is 720. Hence, a score above 500 is considered to be good. Ensuring a high score in all the sections will ensure an overall high score. Although there is no sectional cutoff or qualifying marks for NEET, a balanced performance would be better than a skewed performance. The mentors or experts evaluating the NEET mock tests often set a high difficulty level question paper to help them prepare for a tough test. Hence, students should not be demotivated if their score is low. They must improve their preparation and be prepared and give their best shot to get a high score in NEET 2024.

Q: How to get 500 marks for NEET?

A: Given the tough competition in NEET, getting a score above 500 is no mean feat. More than the subject knowledge, what matters most for getting a high score in NEET is the test-taking strategy. First and foremost, candidates should select the questions which they are absolutely sure about the accuracy. Moreover, the second factor is to attempt as many questions as possible accurately to ensure a high score. They should also follow the factor of quality over quantity, i.e. in a bid to attempt more questions, test-takers should not compromise on the accuracy part as wrong questions result in negative marking of one mark. In the last leg of exam preparation, students should not start any new topics or plan to prepare those areas which have not been their strong suit. Revision is the key. Last but not the least, taking regular mock tests, solving previous years’ question paper and their analysis is key to get a high score in NEET.
