SRMIST Hosts International Conference on Biofilms and Microbiome Research (BMR 2026), Driving Global Dialogue on Biofilms, Microbiomes and Sustainable Innovation The Department of Biotechnology, School of Bioengineering, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Kattankulathur, is hosting the International Conference on Biofilms and Microbi

The Department of Biotechnology, School of Bioengineering, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Kattankulathur, is hosting the International Conference on Biofilms and Microbiome Research (BMR 2026) from 25 to 28 October 2026, in association with the Society for Biofilms, Microbiome and Water Research (SBMR) and the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Kalpakkam.

Bringing together over 300 scientists, academicians, research scholars and industry professionals, BMR 2026 welcomes international participation from the USA, Israel, Singapore, France, South Korea, China, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Austria and Belgium. The conference features 20 plenary and keynote lectures, 25 invited lectures, four industry expert talks, 23 short technical talks and 120 student poster presentations, creating a dynamic forum for scientific exchange and interdisciplinary collaboration.

At the inaugural session, Prof. U. Kamachi Mudali, Vice Chancellor, Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), Mumbai, emphasised the critical need for advanced technologies to prevent biofilm formation, which contributes to increased energy consumption in industrial heat exchangers and cooling systems. He highlighted the importance of global scientific collaboration in developing effective responses to complex challenges.

Prof. C. Muthamizhchelvan, Vice Chancellor, SRMIST, emphasised the need to move beyond conventional research approaches towards translational research that delivers measurable industrial and societal impact. Highlighting SRMIST’s commitment to translating granted patents into practical applications through technology transfer, he identified anti-biofilm technologies as a promising avenue for conserving water and improving energy efficiency in the cooling infrastructure of high-volume data centres.

With a focus on biofilm and microbiome science, antimicrobial resistance, environmental biotechnology and sustainable development, BMR 2026 reinforces the importance of connecting scientific discovery with real-world application, advancing research that addresses pressing industrial needs and global sustainability priorities.

Honestly, for CS/CSE placements, I'd give LPU a serious look. The opportunities are pretty broad, with lots of companies, internships, industry exposure and chances to build practical skills. Of course, your own coding skills, projects and interview preparation matter a lot too, but overall LPU has

Both SRM and LPU can be considered for automobile engineering, but the better choice depends on what matters most in the course. LPU has a fairly industry-oriented approach, with practical learning, projects, workshops and options to explore areas such as electric vehicles, robotics and automobile d

Yes, a diploma holder can generally enter B.Tech CSE through lateral entry. SRMIST’s published engineering prospectus states that candidates with a 3-year or 2-year Diploma in Engineering/Technology and at least 60% marks are eligible for B.Tech lateral entry. If the diploma is completed in December

Honestly, all of these have their own strengths, so I wouldn't pick one blindly without looking at the course. If I had to point out one thing that makes LPU interesting right now, is it's growing focus on AI and future-ready skills. AI is becoming part of almost every field-engineering, business, d
