BTech is one of the popular courses of Assam University, which is offered across three domains. Trigun Sen School of Technology under Assam Univeristy have good standards of education, labs and placement records, and all these factors are worth considering.

Assam University offers two types of BTech courses: regular BTech, a four-year full-time course, and BTech (Lateral Entry), a three-year course only for candidates who have completed their Diploma in engineering in the relevant discipline.

Candidates willing to take admission in BTech at Assam University must take JEE-Main or Assam University Entrance Exam.

50% of the total seat intake of BTech is reserved for permanent residents of Assam.

Assam University offers BTech in three specialisation through JEE Main scores followed by the JoSAA Counselling. Going as per the past year trends, BTech in Computer Science Engineering can be considered as one of the most popular courses. BTech cutoff 2023 for Computer Science Engineering was 10072 for SC and 4308 for ST category. While the admissions are based on the scores/ rank obtained in JEE Main, the last cut offs also change a lot depending on All India quota or Home State. It also varies if the applicant is a female.

CUET-UG is a national-level entrance exam conducted by NTA whose score card/ rank helps in taking admission in all major UG courses besides BTech. Candidates willing to take admission in BTech must take the JEE-Main exam, which is also a national-level entrance exam but mainly for admission to BE/ BTech in various government and private universities and colleges.

Also, Assam University accepts admission in its BTech course based on the scorecard/ rank of JEE-Main. For lateral entry to BTech, the candidate needs to take Departmental entrance exam which is conducted by Assam University.

Candidates must prepare well for the examination described above because only a good rank above the closing rank specified in the merit list released by Assam University will make the applicant eligible for further counselling rounds followed by document verification and fee payment.

Assam University BTech cutoff 2023 for BTech Computer Science Engineering was 18070 for OBC category. While the admissions are based on the scores/rank obtained in JEE Main, the last cut offs also change a lot depending on All India quota or Home State. It also varies if the applicant is a female. It is mandatory for candidates to have a valid JEE Main score in order to be eligible for the further admission process i.e JoSAA Counselling. After JEE session 2 is completed, only those candidates who are aiming for IITs need to start preparing for JEE Advanced after clearing JEE Main. Those who are above the 98th percentile should start preparing for JEE Advanced as soon as possible. Those below this, between the 95th and 98th percentile, should focus on attempting more mock tests and previous year question papers so that they have a better chance of clearing JEE Advanced

As per the latest report, the highest package offered to CSE students during 2023 placements was INR 6 LPA and was offered by Hexaware Technologies. Earlier, the highest package offered in 2022 was comparatively higher and the amount stood at INR 10 LPA. Assam University can be considered competitive as admission is based on the entrance exam scores. Courses such as BTech in Computer Science and Engineering are hard to get due to the high cutoff in JEE Main. For other courses, the university accepts the CUET UG exam. 50% of BTech seats are reserved for the permanent residents of Assam, and the remaining 50% are for All India candidates. However, admission also depends on academic performance and individual preference. 

Assam University offers over 86 UG, PG, diploma, doctoral, and certificate programmes in various fields, such as Engineering, Arts, Science, and Commerce, and for admission in many of the courses and specialisation there are specific entrance exams such as CUET-UG for admission in UG courses, CUET-PG for admission in PG course, JEE-Main for admission in BTech course.
