Yes, seats are limited for IIITM Gwalior programmes. The institute gives seats through counselling/ entrance basis. Check the intake for some of the courses:

ABV IIITM Gwalior offers a four-year BTech course in three specializations. IIIT Gwalior BTech admission is difficult. To get admitted, students must meet the minimum eligibility requirements and pass the relevant entrance exam. Both normal BTech and integrated programmes have the same eligibility and qualifying examination at the institute. Students must attend the corresponding counselling processes for both courses in order to be considered for final selection. Yes, you could get into IIITM Gwalior in the first round if you belong to the General AI category. For this category, the IIITM Gwalior CSE cutoff 2026 was 8073 in the first round for the General AI category. 

But if you belong to any other category, like OBC, SC, ST, EWS or PWD, then a rank of 7000 would not admit you to this institution (In the first round). See the table below to know the highest rank acceptable for all categories. 

Students who belong to the General AI category need a JEE Main rank of at least 15078 or below to be eligible for admission at IIITM Gwalior for any BTech branch. This is as per the IIITM Gwalior JEE Main cutoff 2026 for round 1.

No, students do not have to apply separately for IIITM Gwalior after registering for counselling. Admissions are managed centrally through JoSAA/ CCMT counselling. Students however, have to submit a separate form for other programmes.

 IIITM Gwalior JEE Main cutoff 2026 ranged from 3469 to 6241 in the first round for the OBC AI category. As per this range, BTech CSE was the hardest specialisation to get into and BTech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, the easiest. 

So, OBC AI category students would need to attain a rank of at least 6241  to be eligible for admission to any BTech course branch in the first round.
