Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research is deemed as a university and is recognised by the UGC and a member of the AIU. . It was established in 1984 by Sri Lakshmi Ammal Educational Trust. It has four institutions Sree Balaji College of Nursing, Chennai, Sree Balaji College of Physiotherapy, Chennai, SBMCH Chennai and SLIMS Puducherry. Bharath University Infrastructure
BIHER has a area of 305 acres of land with buildings located on six campuses both in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry with good facilities. Apart from this, the institute also offers facilities such as separate 4 boys' hostels and 1 girls hostel, libraries, classrooms, seminar halls, transport and sports facilities, among others. The BIHER library has three main branches - Civil, Mechanica, and Computer Science Engineering.
How to reach Bharath University?
Students coming from the side of Chennai International Airport (MAA) can hire a taxi or take a cab service to reach the university. BIHER is approximately 25-30 kilometres away from the airport and thus the travel time is about 1-1.5 hours (may increase in case of heavy traffic). Tambaram Railway Station is near to the campus. From the station, a taxi or public transport can be taken to cover the 5-10 km distance to reach the university campus. It can further also be reached via the GST Road or Velachery Main Road.

Yes, MBBS is a 4.5 year course followed by one year of compulsory rotating internship. The period of 4.5 years is divided into nine semester, with each semester of six month. Phase I or the Pre-Clinical phase is of 13 months and is preceded by a one-month foundation course.At the end of Phase II or the Para-clinical phase (12 months) students will be assessed on the subjects Pharmacology, Pathology and Microbiology. At the end of Phase III part I (13 months) students will be assessed on Forensic Medicine, Community Medicine, Ophthalmology and Oto-rhinolaryngology.

BIHER offers BTech course in 16 specialisations, namely Aeronautical, Aerospace, Automobile, Civil, Biomedical, Mechanical, Industrial Biotechnology, Mechatronics Engineering, etc. Candidates who have completed Class 12 or its equivalent with at least 50% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics can apply for the BTech course. Candidates must pass Class 12 or its equivalent with at least 50% aggregate in PCM/ Biology for Bioengineering department. Apart from the regular four-year BTech course, Bharath Institute of Higher Education & Research provides lateral entry. BTech (LE) is also available in various specialisations, namely Civil Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, etc. However, one can also apply for lateral entry after completing the Diploma course.
