Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) - Batch of 2024
4.4
A perfect campus and career college.
Placements: Placements depended on the placement coordinator and how he approached the companies for the package and placement. Alumni were present in almost every company, which could be beneficial. The company came to college and came for multiple seats, so it's overall good.
Infrastructure: The college provided all the basic infrastructure for students. Classrooms were well-maintained with good Wi-Fi. The library was very good and peaceful. The food in the canteen and mess was good. Sports facilities were also available. Gym, football, cricket, badminton, volleyball, basketball were there.
Faculty: Overall, it's balanced, the faculty were helpful and managerial. Faculty members were supportive and always ready to help with your doubts and career guidance. The course curriculum was well designed for both practical and theoretical aspects, as well as for placement, how to approach and all.
Other: Campus life was perfect, you're going to meet different people (especially if you live in the DTU hostel). Next level life, you will get here.

The okayish college for design
Placements: For our batch, the placements are not good at all. It is very different from what is being advertised on public platforms and should not be taken for reference. But the situation might get better as my juniors are getting much better opportunities on campus than we got for our batch.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure, even after constant construction throughout my duration in college, is not good. On the surface, it might look good, but they lack the bare minimum stuff for it to be considered a good design college in the first place. They spend a lot of money on departments that were never required.
Faculty: Exams here are just formality; the main weightage is given to your big project of the semester for each of the subjects. That will be considered as the priority for the subject. But with a few exceptions, both the faculty and the curriculum are not that good.
Other: The campus life and your peers are where you'll get most of your learnings from. Just do not rely on the teachers in hopes that they will teach something good.

Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) - Batch of 2025
5.0
Really good infrastructure and great opportunities.
Placements: 1. 90 percent of students were placed in my course and the other students got off-campus placements. 2. 15 LPA is the average package, depending upon the portfolio and abilities. 3. Microsoft, Snapchat, etc. are the top recruiters. 4. 90 percent of students get internships at Zipp Electric, OLA, Airtel, etc. 5. User expert designer, associate, etc. are the top roles offered.
Infrastructure: 1. All necessary facilities are available, such as the library, Wi-Fi, labs, water, canteens, and various food points inside the campus. 2. Everything is available; hostel availability is good. The food of the mess is also amazing; three-course meals are served.
Faculty: 1. Yes, they are very helpful, and the teaching quality is also great. 2. Yes, it gives hands-on experience and makes a student learn through peers. 3. The exams are not very difficult; everyone gets passed, and through enough preparation and the help of teachers, it becomes a piece of cake.
Other: 1. The social circle we get to interact with is very nice. There are a lot of opportunities to grow and learn. 2. Workshops are organized. 3. Fests and events are the major attractions. Societies are an added bonus.

Q:   Can I get into DTU without giving JEE?
    6thumbs up
    A:

No, candidates cannot get admission to DTU without appearing for JEE Main as the DTU BTech counselling is done through JAC Delhi. The basic criteria for admission to BTech is appearing for JEE Mains. To get into DTU, candidates must score decent marks or at least around 220 or above marks in JEE Mains. The only way to get into DTU without appearing for JEE Main is by taking a lateral entry admission to BTech second year. In order to do this, candidates must complete a Polytechnic course of two years and then appear for an entrance exam (not JEE Main but this exam will give you entry in DTU's second year.

Q:   Which entrance exam is accepted by DTU?
    A:

No, DTU does not conduct any entrance exam of its own for admission to any of the UG, PG or doctoral-level courses. Admission for the flagship BTech programme is based on JEE Main scores and the entire process of counselling are conducted by JAC Delhi. Further, DTU admission to all the remaining courses is mostly based on national/ university-level entrance exams, such as UCEED,  GATE,  CAT,  MAT and CMAT, among others. However, there are a few MBA specialised courses and BBA, admission to which is offered based on the past qualifying exam  (UG level) followed by an interview round.

Is it worth it to go with DTU B.Des!
Placements: Almost 75% of students got placed in the design course. The highest package is 45 LPA and the lowest package is 8 LPA. The average package is 14 LPA. The top recruiting companies are PPO, Microsoft, etc. Almost 60% of students got placement in this course. Top roles offered are graphic designer, etc.
Infrastructure: We live in a hostel named VLB here, and B.Tech. girls also live here. We have our own indoor library and a separate mess from other hostels. We also have a health center that is open 24 hours a day, as well as a sports complex with various types of courts. But our canteen is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Faculty: The teachers at DTU are too humble and calm. They are highly qualified. They teach industry-oriented problems. It is easy to pass every semester because papers are very easy. Almost 80% of students pass. There is no issue of being detained because we can do an exam with zero attendance.

Somewhat satisfied because of the placements which is again off campus.
Placements: Most of the placements happen off-campus only, which is obvious as its B.Des. course. The highest package according to my HOD is 1.2 crores. Students from first year also get internships in college. Top roles are product design, fashion, interaction etc.
Infrastructure: The design department of DTU is great and elite in comparision to other B.Tech departments including Wi-Fi and labs etc. I don't like the old hostels of DTU, they are the worst. But new buildings are being constructed which I hope they are great, as it looks nice from outside.
Faculty: Teachers are great or the best but not their teaching quality, we get classes just to follow the rules. We pay the tuition fee but we get YouTube links to understand the topic. The curriculum is fine. It depends on the student about the exam, but exam involves more in practical involvement.
Other: I chose industrial product design, as I want to pursue automobile design further. The proper teaching and involvement of students will make the course great. DTU conduct the best events, fests and all even better than IIT Delhi.

Placements: Since I am in my first year, I don't know much but ppl have been placed at Adobe, Microsoft, Disney+hotstar and more. Adobe did visit for placements but other students got the placement offers due to the internships which were self searched. Zomato also gave placement offers to few students.
Infrastructure: The overall infrastructure is good and the college is spread over a large area. Although since it is a government college, the hostels are not that great. Food in the mess is fine. It is difficult to get a seat in Boys hostel, although you can still get on sharing basis of you have a friend in the hostel, so more than 2 people can stay in the room.
Faculty: Not much guidance is provided by the faculty at this point and mostly students have to figure everything out on their own. Some senior faculty are good, but not for first year B.Des. Better go for some private college if you want to learn from faculty.
Other: The fests are good and famous and the food stalls are also plenty to choose from. There is a Amul stall, juice stall, Nescafe, Mic Mac night cafe and many more.

This college has a good design department.
Placements: This year our first batch of bachelor's in design from DTU will get a pass. Around 1 student has get a PPO from Microsoft. Around 4 students get an average salary of 24 LPA from Adobe. Most of them are offered roles of UI or UX designer, product design, and interaction designer in the tech space.
Infrastructure: It has a newly built building so the infrastructure is best. Our department has the best building with all the facilities on the campus. It is centrally air conditioning, fans are not even installed. Hostel depends as they change every year. A new building has just been built do not which batch will get its accommodation. Food is good way better than PG or mess.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and kind. They are knowledgeable most of them are IIT, NID, NIFT graduates. They teach enough. The course curriculum is always in sync and in discussion with IITB and NIDA. If students show interest they will teach students a lot more. Students can get to them at any given they are very supportive. A lot of expert talks, workshops, seminars, internship opportunities, and competitions are always there. The passing percentage is not strict. Semester exams are cakewalk if they have attended the classes. Because in design students do not any hard books or theories as it is more about practical. Exams are also similar to this. Students can not mug up the night before and puke in the exam like in engineering. This course is hectic, but not tough because students are not supposed to memorize formulas or theories.
Other: The course bachelor's of design is a very young course. Previously only Mdes was a course for engineers from 1980 offered by IDC IITB. Then IITG offered BTech in design through JEE-Advanced. Later IITB introduced Uceed and bdes as separate exams and degrees. It is UGC recognized degree. Govt colleges offering bdes are IITB, G, HYD, IIITDMJ, DTU DELHI, IIIT DELHI as BTech in CSD through uceed, UPID NOIDA. The only good pvt college is CEPT AHMEDABAD. IIT D is the latest entry in this league their HOD gave a session in our college. Mdes is offered from a very long time by many colleges IITB, D, G, KGP, K, R IISC DTU. Bdes and mdes offered by NIDs and NIFT are more inclined towards aesthetics whereas in engineering college it is more towards problem-solving. So considering everything ranking is like IITB, IITD, IITG, DTU, IIITD CSD, IITH, IIITDMJ considering placements campus and everything. DTU has best fests and activities even better than IITD maybe the best in the whole north. College life is relaxing and hectic at the same time.

It provides good infrastructure and value for money.
Placements: As of now, fourth-year students are getting placed. Official data is not yet out however, students get placed in Microsoft. Most of the students are doing internships at Zomato, Tech Mahindra. The average salary package offered ranges from 7 LPA - 8 LPA. The highest salary package offered is around 33 LPA.
Infrastructure: Department of design is the newly built department. Classrooms are well-equipped with centralised air conditioning. Classes and laboratories are spacious. It has mac laboratories, a photography studio, open-air studio but still, in the building phase. Overall the department of design looks beautiful and modern as compared to other departments.
Faculty: Few of them are helpful, but some are not. After all, it is a design college and students have to learn most of the things on their own. DTU BDes FAQs

Q:   Is DTU good for BDes?
    A:
Delhi Technological University (DTU) is among the old and reputeed University  established in 1941. DTU Delhi is accredited by the NAAC with an 'A' grade and NBA and is also approved by the University Grant Commission (UGC) and AICTE. DTU College is ranked 61 under the Overall category by NIRF 2023,  40 under the University category by NIRF 2023, and 29 under the Engineering category by NIRF 2023. The university is ISO-certified and earlier was affiliated with the University of Delhi.
Placements: If compared to IIT Bombay or IIIT Delhi, placements are comparable to the best-to-best colleges. The top recruiting companies are TNP, Google, Adobe, Microsoft, Indian Express, etc.
Q:   How is DTU in terms of studies?
    A:

DTU is indeed a great college for engineering, specially B.Tech. Since it takes students through JEE Mains, the quality of students is also very good.

Being a very old government college, it has gained immense recognition as well. Syllabus is a bit outdated. The subjects in the first year are common for all, irrespective of branches. Classes are held regularly, though there are bunks as well during exams, fests etc.

The professors are well educated, most of them have done PhD. Some of the teachers are good, interesting while some make the subject very boring and dull. Some of them would just copy the things from the book without actually making the students understand. I would advice to be regular in class and always stay in touch with the syllabus. The study during engineering is comparatively easier than that during JEE and so one can easily cope up.

DTU is not just great in terms of academics or placements, but the fests and societies also help a student to develop as an individual. It makes you a much better person rather than just a bookish engineer.

Q:   What is fee refund policy at DTU?
    A:

An admitted candidate can withdraw his/her admission during the counselling period by submitting online request through JAC Delhi portal on or before last
date of withdrawal mentioned in counselling schedule.
    a) If the candidate withdraws his/her admission on or before the last date of counselling schedule, his Seat Acceptance Fee (INR 95,000) will be refunded without interest after deducting INR1000 as processing charge.
    b) Fee refunds for all withdrawals will be processed within 20 days after last date of withdrawal

Q:   What is the highest package offered to BDes students at DTU?

There isn't one magic book for LEET that guarantees admission to universities like DTU or Thapar. I've seen most students do well by first covering their Diploma basics properly and then practicing previous year papers as much as possible.

For Mathematics, books like R.S. Aggarwal are quite common, a
