IP University BDes Admission 2023

IPU admission 2023 to BDes programme is based on UCEED ranks, followed by University-level counselling (IPU CET Counselling) for seat allotment. However, if seats remain vacant after counselling on the basis of score of UCEED score, then the counselling is conducted on the basis of NID DAT scores. Final admission is made out of a merit list drawn with a weightage of 50% from Class 12 and 50% from UCEED/ NID scores. Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University BDes programme is offered by the University School of Design & Innovation (USDI) for a duration of four years, spread in a semester pattern. The seat intake offered for this course and its eligibility criteria is mentioned in the table below:

IP University BDes Application Process 2023

The step-wise IP University application process is represented below, candidates seeking admission can apply online by paying an application fee of INR 1,200.

Step 1: Visit the official website of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (www.ipu.ac.in) and click on the 'Admission' tab and further click on 'Online Admission Form' from the drag-down menu.

Step 2: Read the instructions carefully, accept the declaration and click on 'Start' to proceed with the registration step of the application process.

Step 3: Select BDes from the programme drop-down menu and register with candidate's name, email ID and contact number. Further, click on 'Non-CET' courses because BDes comes under the 'Non-CET' category courses.

Step 4: Candidates will receive an application sequence number, user ID and password for future logins and a link to the application form to proceed with further steps.

Step 5: In the first stage of the application form, enter personal details, such as name, parents' name, age, nationality, etc. Also, enter the present address information along with the permanent address.

Step 6: Fill in the essential qualification details, including the year of passing and the school/ institution attended. Also, add details around UCEED/ NID DAT scores.

Step 7: Upload the required set of documents and pay the prescribed application fee via debit card/ credit card/ net banking.

B.Des at GGSIPU, expectations vs reality.

Placements: B. Des placement rates are usually average with roles in design. Studios' branding, retail, and media outfits offering salaries between 3 and 6 LPA. On the other hand, internships are easier to find compared to final placements, and they help in networking. Overall, I would say placements are average for design students. Individual effort, portfolio, and strength matter a lot.

Infrastructure: Infrastructure of the campus is pretty solid. Overall, you will find centralized air-conditioned academic blogs with smart classrooms that are loaded with projector IC tools and AV labs. There are multiple computer and departmental labs. The library is fully automated and has essential air-cooled stock with a lot of books, e-books, journals, and major digital databases. There's also a fully functioning cafeteria, multipurpose hall, Wi-Fi, and auditorium for events.

Faculty: Faculty is well qualified, supportive, and genuinely knowledgeable about design, at least that's what my parents and I have noticed so far. The curriculum is structured thoughtfully around foundation years. Lots of hands and exposure. Real project site visits, case studies, and educational trips are regularly done, which make you feel like you're learning something beyond only the theory part. We get 3 theory exams and 4 practical exams per semester. So you're not just asked to write SS, but we are also designing, representing, and depending on our work within a panel.

Other: Main festival of our college is the annual cultural last, which is Anugoonj, it lasts for three days in February and gets a lot of audience, not just from the main campus but over 127 affiliated IP colleges, it is filled with music, dance, drama workshops, and everything campus also runs a small scale and meaningful convenor events like speaker sessions, and interviews, smart India hackathon, NSS drives.

USDI: one of the best upcoming design college.

Placements: Since mine is the first batch there are only 80 students yet. With a few master's students. Top recruiting companies are offered, with high scope for internships. The actual information will come in a few years' time. This university need time grow and thrive.

Infrastructure: Since this is a newly opened college the infrastructure is amazing. The facilities are very good. The studios, classrooms, labs, etc. , are very good. The hostel has not yet opened. There are new desktops with all the required software pre-installed. Amazing desks and chairs. A digital screen in classrooms. Fully A/C.

Faculty: All the teachers are excellent and highly qualified. They are quite knowledgeable about the subjects. The course curriculum is perfect for foundation year and I hope more development and creative curriculum are to come. My exams are approaching and for now, I have 4 practical jury exams and 3 theory exams.
