Candidates are admitted to the MBA programmes based on Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science Common Aptitude Test (HITSCAT) score. The aptitude exam is conducted by the institute for admission to its non-engineering courses. HITSCAT exam paper is divided into two parts: English and General Knowledge section + multiple choice questions related to the chosen subject. Apart from this for admission, it is also necessary that the aspirants fulfil the prescribed eligibility requirements. 

The eligibility criteria defines the required educational qualifications for a candidate to become eligible for admission. The applicants of MBA courses must have a valid bachelor's degree passed from a recognised university with a minimum of 50% aggregate. This is applicable for most of the courses. For some MBA programmes, the aspirants should have passed the mentioned UG courses: BCom/BCom (Corporate)/BBA/BISM/BBM/BSc (Maths/ Physics/ Chemistry/ IT/ Computer Science)/BA (Economics)/BE/ BTech/AMIE/AMAeSI/BCA/BArch/BPharm to three-year Diploma awarded by the State Board of Technical Education.

Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science, also known as HITS, was established in 1985 and is located in Kelambakkan, Chennai.
