Candidates are admitted to the MBA programmes based on Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science Common Aptitude Test (HITSCAT) score. The aptitude exam is conducted by the institute for admission to its non-engineering courses. HITSCAT exam paper is divided into two parts: English and General Knowledge section + multiple choice questions related to the chosen subject. HITS offers various scholarships to students belonging to the SC/ ST/ EWS category. Meritorious students are also given the privilege of scholarships. Some of the Hindustan University scholarships are as follows:

• SC/ ST Scholarship Government of India: Candidates, who belong to Tamil Nadu and have completed Class 12, are eligible for this scholarship. The annual income of the parents should not exceed INR 1 LPA. The candidates should not be in receipt of another scholarship/assistance from other sources. The scholarship can be renewed every year.
• Merit cum Means Scholarship: The top scorers in Class 12 are awarded financial aid to pursue their higher studies in HITS. This scholarship is aimed at meritorious students from weaker sections.
• Sports Scholarship: It gives special importance to the students who have excelled in sports over the years under its Sports Quota.
• Dr Elizabeth Verghese Founder Scholarship: This scholarship has been instituted to empower girls with academic potential to pursue higher education and those who are from lower-income families.
• Merit Scholarship: The institute offers a tuition fee waiver for meritorious students.

Hindustan University offers good placements annually for its various courses like MBA, BPharma and BTech, etc. As per the latest report, a total of 1,364 students were placed and 93.94% placement rate was recorded during Hindustan University placements 2024. Further, the the highest package offered during the 2022 placement drive stood at INR 12.75 LPA. No, Hindustan University offers admission to all of its courses based on a valid score in the respective entrance exams. For the majority of UG courses from the streams of Science, Commerce, Humanities, Management and Law, the university conducts an in-house entrance exam, i.e., HITSCAT.
