College life at IKGPTU Kapurthala.

Placements: The percentage of students that get placed is around 60–70%. The highest package was around 26 Lacs per annum, while the lowest package was around 3-4 Lacs per annum. The average package that went is around 7-8 lacs per annum. Top recruiting companies are TCS, Infosys, Byju's, Relinns Technologies, Explore and Evolved pvt Ltd., etc. Around 20-30 percent students are able to get internship offer in companies like TCS, Relinns Technologies, Explore and Evolved pvt Ltd., etc. Mainly students are for the roles of web developer, software developer, management, etc.

Infrastructure: Infrastructure and other facilities that were provided are good, with proper connectivity of Wi-Fi and A.C. in each classroom. There are proper labs built with good Internet connectivity. There is a centralized library providing required study materials for students. The hostel is quite average, with decent rooms without any Wi-Fi connection. The food that was provided is above average, not that great. There are three small canteens, medical facilities, and various courts such as a basketball court, a volleyball court, a stadium-sized field, and an indoor stadium for students who are interested in sports and various games. There is also an 800-seat theater-like auditorium.

Faculty: Teachers that are present there are good. They are well qualified and have a sufficient amount of knowledge. The way of teaching is good and available every time for solving any kind of doubt that students had. The course curriculum is quite efficient, covering the latest concepts and technologies so that students are able to learn new things and skills to tackle modern problems and can become industry-ready. Semester exams had good difficulty levels, and the pass percentage is around 70 percent.

Other: Computer science engineering is a very vast field with lots of opportunities in it. This is the fastest-growing field and has lots of potential to provide various opportunities and can pay good money also. This course gives knowledge of today's and future's teaching, for which I am passionate. It's said that the future is all about data. And in this course I am learning how to manage data. The course curriculum that they taught us is quite old; they should make changes in it so that we are able to learn about modern technologies and get updated with today's and future teaching. Rather than focusing on theoretical knowledge, they should focus on practical knowledge.

My Review of PTU Main Campus Kapurthala.

Placements: Placement depends upon the students, as there are companies that come for on-campus placements. Placement here is very good, with the highest off-campus package being 27 LPA and 16 LPA for on-campus. The average package here is 6 LPA. Many companies visit here, like Hitachi, Panasonic, Tata, and many more MNCs that offer a very good salary.

Infrastructure: The campus is very chill and cool. The institute organizes events at regular intervals, and these events are well organized. Last week, we celebrated Engineer's Day, and multiple events were organized, which students enjoyed a lot. In college, we have a library that you can access from 9 AM to 5 PM, Monday to Saturday. There is also an AC study room with good Wi-Fi available 24/7. Other than that, there's one auditorium and a big indoor stadium. All sports facilities are available except for a swimming pool. In terms of engineering, all essential labs are available.

Faculty: The faculty is good at our college, but there are many faculty members who are freshers and don't know how to handle college students. My favorite faculty member is Ms. Seema Bajaj, who teaches us blockchain and is very sweet. There was also a math teacher in my first year, Jasdeep Kaur, whose teaching style and way of interaction with students were good. The mid-sem exams are easy, but the finals are much more difficult, as they are conducted by PTU, which is the worst board. If we talk about the faculty-to-student ratio, it is good here overall, but it depends upon the department. The faculty is approachable, understanding, and teaches well. The curriculum here is well updated and easy to learn as a beginner.

Other: I chose this college over others because of the low fee structure. The admission process is very simple; you just visit the campus for admission and pay the semester and registration fees, making the process easy. The clubs are active in our college, and activities happen regularly. Students are willing to conduct and organize different activities together, and faculty members also help students with these activities, despite the low number of students. The total fees are around 45,000 per semester, so the annual fees are around 90,000. There are scholarship options based on the JEE score, and to continue receiving the scholarship, you have to score a minimum of 8+ SGPA per semester.

I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University

Placements: Half of the students got placed while half opted for higher studies. The highest package was around 8 lakhs per annum, while the lowest was 3 lakhs per annum. The top recruiting companies are like Zscaler and more. A few students also got internships in Hoping Minds.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure is not very good, and the buildings are old, but renovation is going on, so it may improve. The classroom is big enough for 70 students, and AC is available. Wi-Fi is also available in the college for the students. The mess food is okay. Sports and games are rare.

Faculty: The faculty is good and cooperative and also helps the students. All the faculty members are qualified and experienced. The teaching quality is good, but you have to work on your own for industrial experience. The semester exams are moderate, and students can pass by studying one night before.

Other: B.Tech is nowadays in demand and a highly chosen course at this time, but if the industrial experience were provided by the college, it would be better.

IKGPTU: Strong Placements, Modern Facilities, Quality Education, and Scholarship Opportunities

Placements: The pass-out batch has been placed in various companies. Last year, in 2023, over 100 students were placed, with an average package of 6 LPA. Recruiters such as TCS, HDFC Bank, Infosys, Wipro, and many others participated in the IKGPTU placements. Around 45% of students also secured internships from courses at Hoping Minds and other institutions.

Infrastructure: The facilities and infrastructure at I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University are well-developed. All rooms are fully air-conditioned, and the entire campus has Wi-Fi access. The common rooms are fully equipped. The campus has a Knowledge Resource Center (KRC) library with a wide range of books. There is a student study center and a computer center, both offering Wi-Fi access. The campus also features an indoor stadium, an outdoor stadium, a basketball court, and a badminton court. Additionally, the Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Auditorium. The seating capacity of 800. There are 3 boys' hostels and 2 girls' hostels on the main campus, all within walking distance of the academic buildings. For security, the hostels are monitored by male and female security guards, and caretakers are present at the entrance and boundaries. The hostels also have guest rooms for visitors.

Faculty: All teachers are highly qualified and talented, with some of them holding Ph.D degrees. Their teaching style is effective and supportive. The course curriculum is relevant and with industry needs. It covers core subjects, provides hands-on experience, and benefits from the expertise of the faculty. There are also opportunities for research and the integration of modern technology.

Other: Every year, several events are organized, and students take part in various activities. A 2-3 day youth fest is held where different colleges participate. IKGPTU offers tuition fee waivers, and the government of Punjab provides 100% scholarships for SC students who are residents of Punjab. Scholarships are also available for students from other states.

Decent infrastructure but average placement and limited resources.

Placements: In our college, about 50 to 55 percent of students got placed, but it changes very frequently. The highest package was 12 LPA, while the average is about 5-6 LPA. The lowest is, of course, not getting placed. In our college, most get off-campus jobs, but there are some companies that visit us, like Infosys, TCS, Cognizant, and a few more. Most students take unpaid internships in their second year, but some do secure internships in TCS or in private firms through referrals. Mostly, students who get placed land software development jobs, but it's not 100% the same for everyone. Overall, the placement by the college is mid-level, but if you work hard, you will make it.

Infrastructure: The campus has well-maintained buildings, air-conditioned classrooms, and a big library (open Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM). However, Wi-Fi is not available on every floor, and the facilities are decent but have room for improvement. Hostel facilities are basic but functional, with rooms having a bed, desk, chair, attached washrooms, and a small balcony. The food in the mess is average but has a varied menu. There are sports facilities including a cricket ground, indoor stadium, basketball court, badminton court, and an auditorium. That's all you will ever need, I guess.

Faculty: The teachers are well-educated, approachable, and supportive, each bringing a unique style of teaching that makes the learning experience easier. The curriculum provides a good balance of theory and practical work, designed to offer hands-on experience, making it somewhat industry-relevant. The difficulty of semester exams is not that hard; everything will be from the syllabus with a mid-level of difficulty, so it’s not a big deal. You can maintain an 8 CGPA if you work hard.

Other: The course was chosen for its balance of theory and practical work, and the best aspects include hands-on experience and approachable faculty. Improvement could be made in resources and facilities, as all are limited. Just one event I would highlight is Aggazz; other than that, you will find everything similar to what a third-tier college offers.
