- The JEE Main 2026 session 2 registration window is now live for the B.E. / B.Tech course. The last date to register for the same is set as Feb 25, 2026. Further, the exam for the same is going to be held from Apr 2 to Apr 9, 2026.
IKGPTU BTech Eligibility & Highlights 2025
Punjab Technical University (PTU) has been renamed as I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU). The university offers BTech (four-year) in 29 specialisations at the main campus. BTech is also offered at IKGPTU constituent campuses. Admission is through JEE Main, followed by PTU Counselling. However, at some campuses, admission is done based on merit in Class 12 as well. I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University also offers BTech (Lateral) courses. The admission process for these courses is carried out as per the norms laid by the Punjab government/or the university.

Fees for B.Tech at I.K Gujral Punjab Technical University (PTU) is 1.5L - 5.2L per year. It may varies according to their taking facilities. The basic eligibility criteria is PTU B.Techoffering 180 seats.The median salary offered is 4.2 LPA and total tution fee is 5.15 lakh.
The aspirant's performance in Class 12 along with their JEE Main scores and ranks are considered for admission to the BTech courses. Additionally, the student must also meet the minimum eligibility criteria. Eligible candidates with a valid JEE Main score can further fill out the IKGPTU application form online (ptu.ac.in). The university releases a merit list after the conclusion of the application process followed by which selected students are called for counselling.
Candidates who have passed Class 12 with at least 45% aggregate (40% aggregate for reserved category) with Physics/ Mathematics/ Chemistry/ Computer Science/ Electronics/ Information Technology/ Biology/ Information Practices/ Biotechnology/ Technical Vocational Subject/ Agriculture/ Engineering Graphics/ Business Studies can apply for IKGPTU BTech programme.
Aspirants who have passed DVoc in the same allied sector or three-year Diploma can also apply.

IKGPTU BTech Admission 2025: How to Apply?
Candidates seeking admission to a BTech course at PTU Jalandhar need to fill out an online/offline application form. Students can pay the application fee by Credit Card/Debit Card/Net banking/E-Challan. In the case of E-Challan, the application fee can be paid in any branch of the Indian Bank. Refer to the pointers below to know the admission process.

The University has also released the 2023 NIRF report. As per the report, 55 BTech, 9 MTech, and 2 MBA students were placed during IK Gujral Punjab Technical University placements 2022. The median package for BTech stood at INR 4.50 LPA. For M.Tech and MBA courses, the median package stood at INR 3 LPA and INR 2.70 LPA, respectively.
