IGNOU BA Eligibility & Highlights 2025
Indira Gandhi National Open University BA admission is done on the basis of merit scored in Class 12. IGNOU BA programme is offered across 16 specialisations. Some of the specialisations in which the course is available are Tourism Studies, History, Hindi, Sociology, etc. The duration for all these courses is three years. The maximum duration for all of them can go up to six years. The medium of instruction is either in English or Hindi. The course is offered in two cycles, January and July cycles of admission.
To earn a BA (Hons) degree, a candidate must complete courses worth 148 credits in at least six semesters. The honours programmes have a mix of the courses:

- Government of India Scholarships: Candidates belonging to reserved categories, such as Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes (OBCs) can apply for government scholarships. These scholarships are offered by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and the University Grants Commission (UGC).
- IGNOU Internal Scholarships: There are the IGNOU Merit Scholarship, the IGNOU Need-Based Scholarship, and the IGNOU Sports Scholarship facilitated to students. In addition, these scholarships are awarded based on merit, financial need, and/or sporting achievement.
