The department and the professors are excellent.
Placements: There is no compulsory placement system in the Arts faculty, although we do have a Placement Cell, and through that one can easily get information and be notified about placements. Most of the students go on to higher studies. Our department offers integrated courses, so if you are planning for higher studies in history, I would definitely suggest you join us.
Infrastructure: The Department of History is really outstanding. The professors and their way of teaching are really appreciable. Each department has its own departmental library, other than that, we have a Central Library, where one can find books for their courses. Students from a poor economic background get the hostels first. The hostel rooms and buildings are great. Hostel food is below average.
Faculty: The professors are really helpful, student-friendly, and exceptionally good in their jobs. Any student can contact their professors whenever they face any kind of problems with their studies. After understanding the topics properly, the questions do not seem to be difficult.

I absolutely feel blessed to be a part of this prestigious university.
Placements: Recruitment is likely low in the arts as only a few schools, organisations and HRs come to recruit students. The average package in the last year was 4-5LPA. The recruitment system was quite smooth and at the end of the final year, students generally get placed.
Infrastructure: Air-conditioned classes are available including free Wi-Fi. There is a departmental library and projectors. The college also provides special screening occasionally during seminars. Many canteens are there in the university that provide good quality of food at a very reasonable rate. The people at the canteen are also very friendly.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and they provide very useful articles needed for the semester. They clarify our doubts, encourage us during presentations, etc. Frequent seminars are organised in the department. Teaching quality is of course good. In every 6 months, there is an end semester exam. Pass percentage is low. We get around 22 marks out of 50.
Other: Campus Life is awesome.

Great Environment and helpful people satisfied with the wholesome experience.
Placements: Pursuing B.A. in any subject doesn't assure a placement unlike other degrees like a B.Tech or B.Com etc. Whenever a student chooses to pursue B.A. they must prepare themselves for a long term investment as they will have to do M.A. and then Ph.D. if they want. Otherwise competitive exams are always an option. Here, at Jadavpur University students get into M.A. easily when compared to other universities but there is obviously a certain level of difficulty which is very obvious. Continuing in the same university for Masters is an individual choice and must be made carefully after considering all the factors. Placements at Jadavpur University are great in the engineering department in Arts department majority of students enter with the intention to pursue Masters and Ph.D. .
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is accessible if you fill up a form the university administration will provide you with the password but it must be utilised for educational purposes only. There is a network issue in the ground floor of history department but the other floors have excellent connectivity. When it comes to Library there are two, Central Library of Jadavpur University and a Departmental Library. Both have an excellent range of books. All the books needed are available in the Departmental as well as in the central library. Classrooms of history department are satisfactory. But in the first year the classrooms are small and compact. The infrastructure of the university is great. There are auditoriums, grounds, parks, ponds, Open theaters, movie screening halls, lecture halls etc. The university has a very green environment with a lot of trees the entire atmosphere is very soothing. And yes, there is a mural from Money Hiest which was acknowledged by the cast members. Campus is adjacent to a market and a bus stand so everything is under accessible. The PGs are also available in very reasonable range 2500-3500 per head in a sharing format. For hostels there is a process. It is only provided to students who fulfill the criteria. There is a category segregation and an income level segregation. For general category the students must have family income less than ?8500 per month. Students with special abilities and students from a certain economic background are prioritised, like it should be. The fact is, Kolkata is the most affordable city out of every metropolitan. So, students can go for PGs and not hostel.
Faculty: Teachers are exceptionally qualified. They come from institutions like SOAS, London; JNU; BHU; JU; CU; DU and Cambridge. They are very helpful particularly in the first year they help students Transition from the habits of school to what is expected in an University. The teachers are very knowledgeable. Every teacher has a different way to teaching but everyone is great when it comes to explanation. Teaching quality is also good. The course curriculum is relevant. Every semester a student of history in Jadavpur University needs to study certain courses. There are a total of 16 courses which are covered in 6 semesters. Towards the end students get to make a choice what course they want to study. The courses start from ancient Indian history and goes till modern history. European history is also covered. When it comes to making the students industry ready, the student needs to put in a great deal of investment personally like every college in India. The college can not make you ready until and unless you out in the extra effort. Semester examinations are not difficult the questions are simple and if you are well versed with the reference material you will not face a problem. With every semester the difficulty increases which is expected. I can't mention the Pass percentage as my first end sem just got over and the results are not out yet. But more or less everyone passes.
Other: The most important feature of the campus are the people, everyone is exceptionally helpful. The seniors in history department help a lot with notes, finding accommodation and other matters. There is no judgement what so ever regarding anything. Jadavpur University is also a very positive and safe space for the LGBTQIA+ community. Everyone makes sure they are being respectful towards eachother. Everyone is helpful to students with special abilities, they are provided with writers for exams and fellow students go great lengths to help them. Lastly, in Jadavpur University what matters is who you are a person. People don't care about what clothes you wear, whether they are branded or not or what you father does and your family background. What matters is how you behave. When it comes to improving the campus I'll say few departments can use a renovation. But everything else is great. There are many events in the OAT. There are concerts, fests, movie nights. The connectivity is great, there is bus stand in front of the GATE. Campus surrounding includes a market and restaurants. Jadavpur University has many clubs which make the extracurricular activities really fun. The Jadavpur University DEBATING SOCIETY (JUDS) organises many events and participates in many events all across the nation. The MUN culture in Jadavpur University is very strong and prominent.

The best university I've ever seen.
Placements: The college has a placement cell. Almost 75% of the students get very good placements. The rest are also offered placements but are average comparatively. Reputed companies visit the campus to offer placements. Having a good academic and behavioural record is enough for a student to get an attractive placement.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is very attractive. The campus is huge and has greenery all around. Watercoolers are available everywhere on the campus, and we can have both normal and cool purified water. Once you enter the college for graduation, you can complete your studies till M.Phil.
Faculty: The teachers are extremely qualified and knowledgeable. They are intelligent enough to solve our questions. They all are of loving nature. They teach us so well that every topic is covered in the classroom itself. Students don't need to join tuitions as the faculty are the best.
Other: Some or the other event takes place in the university every day. Students get many opportunities to show their talent.

The quality of teaching is good.
Placements: The placements for this course is zero; there is no placement whatever, maybe for Masters, yes but Bachelors of Arts in History, no. This course doesn't offer any placements and I would love if it did in the future. Maybe for the outer world, this course doesn't offer a really good system of placements, due to which it is not available .
Infrastructure: There is free Wi-Fi for the hostel and the university, and the infrastructure of the hostel and even its history have a huge room for improvement. The quality of the food in the hostel is average, with vegetarian and non-vegetarian options available daily. It also provides immediate medical help to the nearest hospital, and the ladies hostel has a canteen inside the hostel complex.
Faculty: The teaching quality and professors are top-notch, hailing from good universities around the world. The classes are very interactive, and the course syllabus is quite relevant for all the students. The difficulty level of the difficulty level of the semester exam depends on how much you study; I won't say it's super difficult, and the pass percentage is almost 99%.
Other: This course has intrigued me since school, and I would have loved to continue it further. As far as I think, the course is quite great for now in terms of improvement, except that some topics and a course study have been removed due to the retirement of the professor and no one to teach them. The campus fest Sanskriti is the grand fest conducted by the three faculty members, one after the other. The campus elite are up for a full-month fest, with classes being suspended depending on the faculty conducting it. The festival brings in many artists each night, many small businesses paced along the campus, and many people from different colleges entering the festival without any payment. The campus is located in a very connected place, with buses and autos available to every 5 minds from all over Kolkata, with even a train station right behind the university. Scholarships are also available in many spheres, and they're available and very accessible.
