B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering - Batch of 2029
Offered by Birsa Institute of Technology, Sindri
4.4

Good placements, helpful faculty, and decent campus life with scope for improvement.
Placements: Around 80-90% students get placed. The highest package is about 16.5 LPA. The lowest is approximately 4.5 LPA, and the average is about 7.5 LPA. Top recruiters include Tata Steel, Vedanta, JSW, Capgemini, and L&T. Nearly 70% students get internships in firms like Tata Steel, DRDO, and Microsoft. Roles offered are engineer, analyst, and developer.
Infrastructure: BIT, Sindri offers Wi-Fi, well-equipped labs, classrooms with projects, and a large library. Hostels are basic but functional, the mess food is hygienic, and the canteens are affordable. Medical care is available, and sports facilities include cricket, football, volleyball, and indoor games.
Faculty: Teachers at Bit Sindri are very qualified, helpful, and knowledgeable. Teaching quality is decent with a theory and practical focus. The curriculum is relevant and industry-oriented. Semester exams are moderately difficult with a pass percentage of around 90 to 95%.
Other: I chose cybersecurity for its demand and role in protecting data. The best part is learning ethical hacking, cryptography, and network security. Needs better labs and tools. Campus has fests, clubs, scholarships, sports, and a family crowd.

BITians are second to none.
Placements: We had a total of around 40-45 students in the final year this time. In which 24-25 students got placed. The placement percentage of my branch is 55 percent. The software scenario is not that good in this college, but for the core, it's magnificent. In the metallurgy branch, the placement report was 100 percent.
Infrastructure: Actually, we have a lecture hall, but from this year onwards, the classes will be held in the new lecture hall, which is going to be inaugurated this year, only for the new students. As BIT is one of the oldest colleges in India, its infrastructure is a bit old. About the hostel, it's average, I would say. The food quality is good ( not like the way Hostel food is described), it's genuinely good enough that you can survive. We have a central library in the centre of the college, with a lot of books for every domain and field.
Faculty: The exam is conducted by the University JUT, so sometimes it's too late and sometimes it's too early. About the paper, you can literally study for two days before the exam and score above 90 percent. Here, two mid semesters are conducted, each of 10 marks, and then end semester is conducted.
Other: Around college, there are very few spots to explore. Not even more cafes. So those things bother me. But other than that, the BIT is the best.

B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering - Batch of 2028
Offered by D.A.V. Institute of Engineering and Technology, Medininagar

I am absolutely satisfied with myself at D.A.V. Institute of Engineering and Technology.
Placements: The highest package offered is 3 LPA. The lowest salary offered is Rs. 25,000 per month. Companies like Tech Mahindra, etc., visit the college to hire students. Principal sir is very good, and he always tries to bring companies for students who study on the campus of the D.A.V. Institute of Engineering.
Infrastructure: The library is good for studying. The hostel is also good for students who want to study in the college of D.A.V. Institute of Engineering and Technology, Medininagar. It is the best for studying. The hostel is not far from the college campus, so students can easily come there.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful and qualified. There is a moderate level of the semester exams. By studying, it is easier to pass semester examinations, and mainly 4 branches are offered, i.e., mechanical engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, electrical engineering, and computer science and engineering.

B.Tech. in Civil Engineering - Batch of 2027
Offered by Birsa Institute of Technology, Sindri

College is good for your personal studies. You will get enough time to prepare for competition.
Placements: Placement scenario at BIT Sindri is decent. Average package is around 7 LPA - 8 LPA. But the placement of civil branch is very poor. Not half of the batch got placed. Mining branch has a good package. Cyber security was added in the year 2024.
Infrastructure: All branches have separate departments. Bit Sindri has a huge library but the staffs are not that much cooperative. You can take a book for 15 days, and after that, 10 paise/day will be charged. There is no Wi-Fi zone on the campus. Hostel is decent, you have to stay with 4-5 students in the 1st and 2nd year. In 3rd year, you will get separate room.
Faculty: Some teachers are very helpful and cooperative. All teachers are highly qualified and knowledgeable. But they don't use their potential fully. Exams are not so tough. You can pass the exams by studying the day before the exams. You can neither expect too much from a government college.
Other: Civil branch has poor placement but has a bright future. You can apply for many government jobs. Fests are rare at the college. There are clubs and NGOs where you can join and organise events and do social work.

B.Tech. in Civil Engineering - Batch of 2028
Offered by Birsa Institute of Technology, Sindri
4.6
5Placements4Infrastructure4Faculty5Crowd & Campus Life5Value for Money
BIT Sindri: Good faculty, labs, placements; old infrastructure; proactive students thrive here.
Placements: Around 90% of Civil students secure campus placements annually. The highest package is up to 13 LPA, with recruiters like JSW, Vedanta, Aditya Birla, and Unacademy. The average package is approximately 6.5 LPA for Civil Engineering. Over 100 internship offers to Civil students in 2024. Comparable to other core branches.
Infrastructure: The campus has decent labs, especially in Civil Engineering. Surveying, Concrete, Soil Mechanics, and Environment labs are well-equipped but sometimes face maintenance delays. The Central Library offers good resources, including textbooks and past papers. Hostels are basic, mostly shared rooms, moderately clean, and old in infrastructure, though some renovations have occurred. Mess food is average with limited variety; canteens provide basic meals. Medical facilities include a dispensary with a doctor; serious cases require Dhanbad hospital. Sports grounds for cricket, football, and athletics are available, with some indoor games. Annual sports meets and cultural fests are active and well-attended.
Faculty: Teachers are generally approachable and supportive, with most holding M.Tech or Ph.D. degrees. Teaching quality ranges from average to excellent, though methods are mostly traditional. The curriculum covers core civil engineering areas but feels slightly outdated; students often self-learn modern tools like AutoCAD and STAAD Pro. Practical exposure is limited, so internships and certification are recommended for skill development. Semester exams are moderately difficult and largely theory-based, with an 85-90% pass rate. Internal assessment and attendance significantly impact final grades. Overall, the programme builds strong fundamentals but requires extra effort to achieve full industry readiness.
Other: I chose Civil Engineering because of my interest in infrastructure and design. BIT Sindri offers experienced faculty, strong core placements (JSW, Vedanta, Aditya Birla), and affordable fees. Labs for structures, soil mechanics, and concrete technology provide practical exposure, along with software training in AutoCAD and STAAD Pro. Active student societies like the Civil Engineering Society and ISTE enrich learning. The popular annual fest SRIJAN features technical and cultural events. The campus is peaceful and green, mainly with students from Jharkhand and Bihar. Connectivity to Dhanbad (28 km) is good. Many scholarships, including E-Kalyan, support deserving students financially.

B.Tech. in Metallurgical Engineering - Batch of 2028
Offered by Birsa Institute of Technology, Sindri
4.4
4Placements3Infrastructure5Faculty5Crowd & Campus Life5Value for Money
Metallurgical branch is a good career option.
Placements: Placement of the metallurgical branch is too good. 100% of students are placed (who fulfill company criteria: 7+ CGPA, max 2 passive backlogs, more than 70% in board exams). The highest package is 14 LPA offered by Vedanta. The lowest package is 5 LPA. The average package is 7.5-8 LPA. JSW, JSPL, Aditya Birla Group, Adani Ltd, L&T, Vedanta, Tata Steel, Shyam Metallics, Reliance, etc., recruit. B.I.T. Sindri offers 3rd-year internships of 2 types: Paid and Unpaid. Those who couldn't crack a Paid internship find it necessary to do an Unpaid Internship (no stipend). 10-15 students can crack a paid internship out of 55 students.
Infrastructure: The 1st-year hostel is clean and spacious, with two students per room, but from 2nd to 3rd year, 3-4 students share a room, and only final-year students get single rooms. Hostel quality declines after the first year. There's no Wi-Fi in hostels or classrooms, only in the library. Labs have old but functional instruments. The mess food is good, offering non-veg meals five days a week. Sports facilities are excellent, with events like SPARDHA, inter-branch football, and intra-branch cricket matches. Grounds are spacious. However, medical facilities are below average and need improvement for better student support.
Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified, mostly from reputed institutes like IITs, and are very supportive, especially for students aiming for GATE and PSUs. The course is industry-relevant and prepares students well for future careers. Exams are relatively tough, requiring consistent effort to secure 8 CGPA or more. Very few students reach or exceed 9 CGPA, with most falling between 7 to 8. However, students scoring above 8 CGPA have better chances of securing good placements, making academic focus essential for career success.
Other: I chose this course because of its low fees and 100% placement opportunities. The best part is that it's a prestigious branch not offered in every college. Unlike Computer Science, which is available everywhere (Government, GFTIs, and Private colleges) and has rising competition every year, this branch is offered only in reputed institutions. With less competition, it offers better career prospects. Only around 3000 students appear for GATE in this branch, so with a little extra effort, you can achieve what CS students work extremely hard for.
