B.Sc. in Physics - Batch of 2028
5.0
One of the best colleges in Kolkata, West Bengal. Fantastic faculty infrastructure and facilities.
Placements: It's one of the most prestigious, history-rich colleges in West Bengal. Around 3 to 4 students every year from a batch of 30 to 40 get placed on campus. Most opt for higher studies in IITs and IISERs by taking the GATE and JAM exams. A large portion of our college gets accepted into them. As it's a reputed college, we get internships easily. Teaching institutions like Allen, Aakash, and PW offer good amounts of money to students with good CGPAs. As I have heard, TCS, HCL, and Infosys come here. In the economics department, the placement rate is much higher. Companies like McKinsey offer good packages, averaging 8 LPA. Despite that, our alumni network is good. You can get a job or teaching opportunities in Kolkata.
Infrastructure: Its infrastructure is really good. Students, teachers, staff, and scholars all have their own different Wi-Fi networks everywhere. There are libraries for each department, but the central library is massive, with 5 floors in total and thousands of books, including old historical books. New newspapers and magazines come daily, like the Times of India, The Hindu, Yojana, and Kurukshetra. The whole campus has central AC. We have 3 to 4 canteens. The food is delicious, and the price is low, too. We have basketball, badminton, volleyball, football, and cricket courts here, and carrom and chess playing places, too. We have government hostels, too. And most of all, everything is government-funded here, so it feels super cheap. We have a total of 7 buildings on College Street itself, all around 5 to 6 floors. There is a huge playground in the middle and lifts in every building. Bathrooms for boys and girls are everywhere.
Faculty: Every teacher is highly qualified. I will give an example: in our department, every teacher has done a PhD from an IIT or IISER. They are very helpful. We don't need outside tuition; lectures are enough. There are computer labs for 30 to 40 people in each department. The chemistry department has around 5 labs and personal workstations for scholars, too. The syllabus is fully CBCS-based and industry-ready. Exams are good enough. A 7.5 CGPA is good if you can get it.
Other: I love physics. It has high scope in the future, too, in data science, quantum computing, everywhere. We have an astrophysics department, too, so it's easy for us to research it in the future. Our department organizes seminars. Scholars, successful scientists from all over India, Google, and abroad come here for seminars. The campus crowd is wonderful; everybody is helpful. It's full of freedom. It's a people's college, really.

This is a good institute.
Placements: Many students have gone to higher studies abroad. Many are placed in very renowned government jobs. After this university experience, you are one step closer to your dreams. There are lots of departments like economics, history, Bengali, Physics, Hindi, geology, and many more.
Infrastructure: Classrooms on campus are fully air-conditioned. University has its own free Wi-Fi segments. The library is also very moderate. They have separate labs room for UG and PG students. The infrastructure is too good. Instruments are also in many numbers. They have sports like badminton, volleyball court, table tennis, etc. Rooms and canteen are available on campus.
Faculty: Faculty members are too good. They are highly qualified, helpful, and very much knowledgeable. The course curriculum is good. Teachers take many class tests to improve us and individual viva is also taken. You can freely talk to your professor at any time.

It is a good college for physics Hons with great faculty members and good infrastructure.
Placements: Physics is not a technical course, so there is no such placement in this course. However, it is the best course to go for higher studies. Students can get a chance to do their PhD from abroad.
Infrastructure: College buildings are very good, well-lighted and airy. Lab facilities are decent. Students can have access to the central library. The condition of the hostel is also good, and the food is well-served.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful, and they interact with students like friends. Professors are qualified, and they have much experience in teaching. They make students like the subject.

Overall, a good college but lacks the maintenance of lab instruments.
Placements: None have tried for professional lines. All have decided to go for higher studies. Most of them have decided to take admission in the same college for higher studies, and few others are trying to get into other institutions that provide integrated courses.
Infrastructure: Free Wi-Fi facility is available for students. Classrooms are clean and have digital teaching aids. A central library is available with a larger collection of books for all departments. Separate departmental libraries are available in each department. Sports facilities like football, cricket, basketball and tennis courts are available.
Faculty: The college has highly qualified and helpful teachers. Though the quality of teaching received varies from student to student, but all students agree to the fact that the teaching of professors is quite satisfying. Most of the professors are involved in active researches too.
Other: Apart from the departmental programs, there is also a central freshers' programme conducted by the students union every year. Besides, Colloquium is conducted by many departments every month.

This college is the best choice.
Placements: Since it is a college that offers general courses, placement numbers are not like other engineering colleges. However, studying in this college definitely matters if one is interested in higher studies like M.Sc and PhD. Almost 90% of my batchmates have cleared JAM exam and are studying M.Sc. in IITs. The rest of the students continue pursuing their M.Sc in the same University.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi facility is available on all the floors. Labs are available with full of modern equipment. An electron microscope was available here which very few colleges could afford even now. Entire astrophysics lab was under construction. There are 2 different libraries containing books, articles, and PhD thesis papers. There are common rooms for boys, and they contain a wide range of sports equipment. We have two college canteens that provide delicious food during college hours.
Faculty: Faculty members were one of the best as compared to any other college. Most of the faculty members have completed their PhDs from many foreign universities. Their teaching methods were awesome. Slides, charts and blackboard are used to teach. The student to faculty ratio was around 30:1.
Other: Fests are organised twice in a year. One is by the opposition party, and the grand 5-day fest named Milieu is conducted by the ruling party. Students from different colleges were also allowed to participate in these fests. Different inter-college events are organised during those five days.

Many famous people studied here and many famous people will study here.
Placements: We know B.Sc (physics) will not provide any placements like engineering streams. We chose physics for higher studies and graduation is necessary for learning those in-depth concepts. Every year many students got selected in IIT, JAM, XM, JEST TIFR etc. It is a very good place to love your subject.
Infrastructure: Every year, top students from West Bengal and India got selected in the entrance test. Classrooms are perfect for studying, and laboratories have all the instruments which are necessary. We call our college as our second home. Here, the teachers are our parents.
Faculty: Faculty members are just loveable. The teacher-student relationship is important for which I am so proud of my teachers. They are frank and helpful. They will help any time and anywhere if problems arise.
Other: It is a place for the all-round development of a student. Along with studies, cultural events, sports etc., are available. Students from every branch participate in events. Don't bother about scholarships here.

Overall, satisfied with everything the college provides.
Placements: Physics department of Presidency University had a great record regarding the placement in 2017. There were students with less than rank 10 in both JAM and JEST 2017. There were several other good rankers in both of these exams, as well as in TIFR exam. Students of this batch are currently studying in TIFR, ICTS, IISC Bangalore and several other IITs. One of the students of this batch is currently doing his masters from University of Groningen.
Infrastructure: Free Wi-Fi for every student is available on the university campus. Labs are equipped with modern facilities and instruments. There is a library with vast collection of books, journals and other necessary things. There is a reasonably big ground inside the university campus. Most of the rooms and labs are AC classrooms. There are three very good canteens on the campus, where one can find quality food of different flavours. Hostel accommodation is also available.
Faculty: The faculty members of the physics department are brilliant. They are highly qualified and student-friendly. The student to faculty ratio in this department is roughly 20:1. The faculty members not only use the regular board and chalk method to teach but also use the projector and other electronic media whenever necessary. The curriculum is also designed in such a way that one can learn a lot about the subject.
Other: It is one of the oldest colleges in Asia which is in its 201st year as of 2018. Sports events and fests are organised yearly. The university has its very own cricket and football league namely "presidency university cricket league (PUCL)" and "presidency university football league (PUFL) ".
