B.Tech. in Civil Engineering - Batch of 2029
3.8

Quality education with vibrant campus culture.
Placements: The PEC Chandigarh University has a placement rate of around 60-70 percent, paying from approximately 5 LPA to above 60 LPA, with an average close to 14 LPA. Major recruiters consist of Amazon, American Express, Accenture, and BofA. Nearly 50 percent of students receive internships with firms providing a stipend of up to 1.8 lacs per month.
Infrastructure: PEC provides strong Wi-Fi, well-equipped labs, clean and spacious classrooms, and a rich library that supports study needs. Hostel facilities are decent with maintained rooms, though the mess food is average. The campus offers good canteen options, reliable medical support, and excellent sports grounds and indoor game facilities.
Faculty: Faculty at PEC are knowledgeable and supportive, and the teaching quality is strong. The curriculum is relevant and helps build industry-ready skills. Semester exams are moderately difficult, and most students pass with regular study and consistent attendance.
Other: I chose this course for its strong reputation and technical exposure. The best part is the practical learning and vibrant campus life with great fests. The crowd is friendly, though more industry collaborations and workshops would improve the experience.

Good but quite expensive as government college.
Placements: In my branch, approximately 40 percent of students got placed. The highest package is 20.8 LPA, and the lowest is 4 LPA. Recruiting companies are JP Morgan, Godrej, L&T, and Bratiania. The maximum students placed in the consultancy. Approximately 40-50 percent of students got an internship. Top roles offered are in government jobs, structural engineering, etc.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is good all over the campus, and the speed reaches up to 110-120Mbps. The infrastructure of the labs is average. Classrooms are good. For the first year, the new academic block has all classrooms with ACs. The CSE and ECE departments have ACs, and the classrooms are overall decent. The library is good, fully air-conditioned, with a ton of books to read. 1st year Shivalik hostel has average rooms that are in decent condition, and the bathroom and toilets are in good condition. Mess is overall good, but hygiene is not maintained. However, the food in the canteen is fantastic. There is a dispensary in the PEC market that opens from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Medicines are available there for free.
Faculty: Teachers are good highly qualified, having done their M.Tech from prestigious institutes. The course is relevant. It makes us industry-ready. Semester exams are moderately tough. We have to study to pass exams. The pass percentage is 30 percent marks in total for passing the subject.
Other: I chose this course for Government jobs. I regret it because I can easily get into aerospace at this college.

College is good, but quite expensive as a government college.
Placements: 40% students got placed. The lowest package is 4 LPA, the highest is 20 LPA, and the average is 10 LPA. JP Morgan is the top recruiting company. 40-50 percent of students got internships in L&T, Godrej, Britannia, My HQ, etc. Top roles offered are structural engineering, government jobs, site engineering, and PSUs through GATE.
Infrastructure: Facilities include AC classrooms, good wooden fixed branches, and proper air passage. Wi-Fi is quite slow sometimes. Around the lecture hall, network jammers are present. There are two-tier libraries, one with AC and one without AC. A costly hostel and no proper maintenance. Sports grounds are in general closed for 1st year. 1 free dispensary available in the PEC market as a medical facility. Mess is average, not that much hygiene is maintained.
Faculty: Teachers are well qualified, with B.Tech, M.Tech, and PhDs. Some are good at teaching but some are below average. Curriculum is good, but some subjects like discipline engineering, communication skills, EVS, and UHV seem useless. Semester exams are good, but not that easy to score.
Other: I chose this course for government jobs. There is one of the largest fest of North India, popularly known as PEC Fest. Very few scholarships are provided. Connectivity is very good.

Good college but not very worth it.
Placements: In 2024 placement session 30 percent of the batch is placed and in 2025 around 40 percent has placed. Last year average package is around 12 LPA and median is 10 LPA. Top roles students go for are in non core like SDE and some go for higher studies like M.Tech and MBA.
Infrastructure: In terms of infrastructure, the college is very average and the hostels in the first year we got is very bad as compared to the fees we are paying. Though the college does provide good labs such as computer labs. Mess is also decent and there are medical facilities and good sports grounds.
Faculty: Faculty is well qualified and knowledgeable as almost all are Ph.D. holders from top IITs NITs and foreign universities but some are quite rude. In terms of course the syllabus is very relevant and industry oriented and the exams are quite tough as well.

Overall summary of Punjab Engineering College.
Placements: In our batch, the overall placement performance for the course was quite encouraging, reflecting both the growing industry demand and the strong training environment provided by the department. Approximately 85–90 percent of the students from our course are successfully placed during the campus recruitment season. The placement packages also showed a healthy range. The highest package offered to a student in our course is around 18–20 LPA, which came from a top-tier product-based company. On the other end, the lowest package offered was close to 3.5–4 LPA, typically from service-based companies.
Infrastructure: Education facilities are really good. There are lots of computer labs with working devices, and all the devices required are present. But living conditions are not good. Some toilets are broken, some bathrooms have broken doors, and hostel rooms are very small.
Faculty: Teachers are really educated. Most have done their Ph.D. outside India, and many have done in top IITs as well. Some have done their Masters in Lund University, Europe, and many have done it in IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay. The course might be a bit outdated but still relevant.
Other: Good college, good placements, good alumni network, good internship opportunities.

B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering - Batch of 2029

Dissatisfied with hostel but satisfied with college life.
Placements: Almost 50 percent of students got placed this year. The highest package offered is around 20 LPA, and average package is around 9 LPA to 10 LPA in B.Tech mechanical engineering. Top recruits are Mahindra, Tata, Maruti Suzuki, American Express, Infosys, etc. From 120 students of mechanical engineering, only 2-3 students gets paid internship. Top roles offered are automation and robotics engineer, design engineer, production engineer, etc.
Infrastructure: College infrastructure is good. The overall campus looks so beautiful and clean but in 150 acre college area, 20-30 acres are just houses of professors. 1st year hostel (Shivalik) is not good, design is average but on rainy day water comes into room from balcony side. In a room, one or two students are adjusted but students are good so that will not be a problem. Mess food is tasty but there is a limit to tasty items like samosas, and they use too much oil.
Faculty: Teachers are good and very supportive (excluding some). Some are very knowledgeable and qualified. Some are M.Tech students in teaching first year. The young teachers are very good at teaching and very supportive as well. College curriculum is designed to give new as well as primitive knowledge of engineering. There are many clubs so branch doesn't matter, you can go to any field. Semester exams are difficult but not much about 90 percent of the 1st year students pass semester exams.
Other: There will always be events and workshops happening. Seniors are very supportive, and there is no ragging. You will connect with the best people in this college with good clubs. You can go to big colleges for participation and college will return your complete money. Scholarships for BPL card holders are 100 percent, for SC/ST is 50 percent, and batch toppers 50-100 percent for every semester. There is no scholarship for hotels. There is a scholarship from alumni for low-income students which is only for maximum 15-30 students so EWS students can have problems in getting scholarship.
