The placement rate is gradually improving, but the infrastructure is still average.
Placements: Around 38 percent of students from the Metallurgy branch get placed through on-campus opportunities while the placement rate across the institute is approximately 59 percent. The highest package has gone up to 20 LPA, and the lowest is around 3 LPA. Major recruiters include Tata Steel and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL).
Infrastructure: The labs are generally good, but some machines are not working and need maintenance. The library is well-managed. I don't use the campus Wi-Fi because I already have a 5G mobile network. Classrooms are spacious and comfortable for students. There are around 4 to 5 hostels on campus: Shivalik Hostel, Kurukshetra Hostel, Himalaya Hostel, and Aravali Hostel.
Faculty: The teachers here are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. Their teaching quality is good and easy to understand. It's a strong course, and it can't be replaced because the demand for Metallurgy is growing. The semester exams in college aren't very difficult. As for the pass percentage, I'm not sure about it.

PEC, Chandigarh, college.
Placements: Good placement. The highest placement of my branch was around 21 LPA this year, and the placement percentage overall and of my branch also was around 60-70 percent.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is good. Hostel in first year is Shivalik hostel, it has 3 blocks: A, B, C. C is the best in terms of infrastructure, B has the highest capacity. A is currently under a little bit of construction; some work is going on there. Rest, for boys, there are 4 hostels, and for girls, there are 2.
Faculty: Faculty is highly qualified. Some teachers are strict, some are lenient, which is the scene in every college. You can find some problem in the schedule of the first semester as it is comparatively more hectic, with too many exams, quizzes, and assignments at the same time. Overall good as compared to other private colleges with very much higher fees as compared to this college.

Good faculty, average infrastructure, placement is between average and below average.
Placements: 36% of students got placed. The highest package is 19.06 LPA, with an average of 11.56 LPA. Top recruiters are JSW Steel, ZS Associate, and JP Morgan. Metallurgy students often move towards analytics, consulting, and research fields. If you are from the core branches, then you have to focus on other skills, which will be helpful.
Infrastructure: The MME department has well-equipped labs, smart classrooms with Wi-Fi, and access to central libraries with external resources. Hostels with decent rooms with Wi-Fi, a common room with 24/7 water and electricity. Mess food is average but hygienic, with an additional canteen option.
Faculty: The faculty of the MME department are highly qualified, Ph.D. holders with huge research experience and are approachable for research and project guidance. The curriculum is relevant, covering core metallurgy topics. Semester exams are moderately difficult, and the pass percentage is above 90%.

Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh. A great North Indian college.
Placements: Approximately 80% of the college students in our branch are already placed, including off-campus and on-campus placements. The highest package is 20.85 LPA, the lowest is 8 LPA, and the average is 13.8 LPA. JSW Steel, Tata Steel, JP Morgan, Micron, etc., come to our college for placements and internships. All of these are on-campus placements. Internships are good overall, with percentage of 60% to 70%.
Infrastructure: Our department is very old-fashioned yet has good facilities. The department has classes fully installed with ACs and projectors. Our Wi-Fi runs at a very good pace with a speed of 300-400 Mbps. There are four hostels, divided into two hostels for boys, and two hostels for girls. We have canteens and decent sports facilities. There is a dispensary in our college.
Faculty: Teachers are very cooperative, highly qualified, and graduated from different IITs and great institutes. The semester exams are not very tough, and there is a very less percentage required to pass because there is a grading system that is relatively based on the branch students.
Other: Actually, we get admission through merit based on the exam named JEE Main. Improvement is needed in all ways possible. There is a lovely fest named PECFEST, one of the biggest technocultural fest in North India.

I am satisfied with our seniors.
Placements: Placements are decent. Some top geeks got a salary package of 1.5 CPA off-campus. Top companies like Atlassian, Microsoft, Google, etc., visited our campus and offered a salary package of 80 LPA. It is a domestic offer. Our college provides decent placements. We have a very large and strong alumni network.
Infrastructure: Hostels are not about infrastructure. It's all about with whom you are spending the time. There are only 2-3 triple sharing rooms. All the hostel rooms are double-sharing, so it's not an issue. The hostel allotment is like a lucky draw if you get a C block in the 1st year. The hostel has a D block.
Faculty: Some faculty members are top-notch in our course. They are London, Lunds University Sweden. She got an award from the president. For core, they have top-class qualified professors who have completed their research in ISRO, Bhabha Atomic Research Center and IPER.
Other: I chose this course because the teacher, Uma Batra, is the one who keeps metallurgy and materials strong in PEC.
