Savitribai Phule Pune University is recognised by UGC, it is popularly known as the 'Oxford of the East'.

SPPU is accredited A grade by NAAC. On a contrary, Mumbai University has been approved by the UGC and AIU, this 160-year old university has bagged A+ Grade via NAAC. Looking at these facts, it can be established that Pune University is a better university when compared to Mumbai University.
