UPESEAT full form is the University of Petroleum & Energy Studies Engineering Aptitude Test. It is a university-level entrance exam that is conducted by UPES for B.Tech. admission in several disciplines. The University of Petroleum & Energy Studies (UPES) conducts the examination every year in multiple phases for admission to its BTech programmes. It is a self-financed, UGC and AICTE-approved University. Admission to UPES is done through UPESEAT, the JEE Main, CUET UG and based on class 12 marks. 80% of seats at the University are filled through UPESEAT, and the rest 20% are filled on the basis of the JEE Mains result and Class 12 results.

UPES was established in 2003 through the UPES Act, 2003, of the State Legislature of Uttarakhand. It emerged as an innovative institution offering industry-specialised undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranked UPES 18th best in the law category, 36th best management institute, ranked 43rd under engineering, and secured 45th position in the university category.

The authority released the UPSEAT 2026 application form on September 12. Interested candidates can fill out the UPESEAT application form at upes.ac.in. The application process comprises registration, filling out the form, uploading the documents and payment of the UPESEAT registration fee. Applicants must note that the UPESEAT application form 2026 is available in online mode only; hence, candidates must be aware of all the steps. The application fee for UPESEAT is Rs 1750 for all candidates. Candidates can use any of the prescribed methods, such as net banking, credit card, and debit card, to pay the UPESEAT 2026 application fee. Candidates are advised to fill out all the details in the UPES application form carefully, as authorities will not provide any correction facility after the conclusion of the registration process.

• Candidates must register themselves as new applicant to complete the registration process.

• Nationality: Indian, as well as foreign national candidates, can apply for the UPESEAT exam
• Qualification: Candidates must have passed 10+2 Intermediate or equivalent examination from any recognised board. Class 12 appearing candidates are also allowed to appear for the exam. 
• Marks in Qualifying Exam: Candidates must have obtained at least 50% marks in Class 10 & 12 and 50% marks aggregate in the PCM Subjects. 
• JEE Main: Candidates who have scored more than the prescribed cut-off marks need not appear for UPESEAT 2026 and can participate directly in the counselling. 
• Board: Candidates with scores equal to or above 80% in both Class 10 & 12 levels can either appear for UPESEAT 2026 or can participate directly in the counselling. 
• SAT & CUET: Admissions will also be provided through SAT & CUET scores. SAT cut-off will be 50%.

• Exam Mode: UPESEAT 2026 exam will be conducted online. If a centre-based exam is conducted, it will be communicated to Candidates later. 
• Total Sections: There will be a total of four sections in the UPESEAT 2026 exam: Physics, Mathematics/Biology, Chemistry and English Language. 
• Medium: The medium of the UPESEAT 2026 question paper will be English only. 
• Type of Questions: The question paper consists of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) only. 
• Total Questions: There will be a total of 125 questions (online).
• Duration: A total of two (2) hours for the online test. 

UPESEAT 2026 Exam Pattern 

The exam authority will release the UPESEAT 2026 admit card on its official website, upes.ac.in. The authority will also send the UPESEAT admit card on the candidate's registered email address. Since the UPESEAT exam is conducted in a remote proctored mode, the admit card only comprises the candidates' login details for the exam along with the test link. Each applicant will be given a unque login ID and password to take the test. Also the UPESEAT admit card is different for each phase and candidates need the fresh credentials while taking the test. Only registered applicants who complete the fee payment will be given the admit card for UPESEAT 2026; hence, candidates must apply before the last date.
