What is UPESEAT?
UPESEAT full form is the University of Petroleum & Energy Studies Engineering Aptitude Test. It is a university-level entrance exam that is conducted by UPES for B.Tech. admission in several disciplines. The University of Petroleum & Energy Studies (UPES) conducts the examination every year in multiple phases for admission to its BTech programmes. It is a self-financed, UGC and AICTE-approved University. Admission to UPES is done through UPESEAT, the JEE Main, CUET UG and based on class 12 marks. 80% of seats at the University are filled through UPESEAT, and the rest 20% are filled on the basis of the JEE Mains result and Class 12 results.
UPES was established in 2003 through the UPES Act, 2003, of the State Legislature of Uttarakhand. It emerged as an innovative institution offering industry-specialised undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranked UPES 18th best in the law category, 36th best management institute, ranked 43rd under engineering, and secured 45th position in the university category.
