GITAM Centre for Distance Learning (GCDL) is an integral part of GITAM Deemed-to-be-University, Visakhapatnam that offers several courses in distance learning mode. GCDL has been authorised by the UGC and Distance Education Bureau (DEB), to validate its own courses on a self-accreditation basis. GCDL pass-outs are given equivalent recognition as the graduates and post-graduates of other institutions by the Government or other universities for employment and higher education, respectively. The students pursuing any course under GCDL receive self-instructional learning material, such as written texts, assignment questions and other supplementary materials. It also makes use of other media such as video and audio programmes, computer software, etc., to make the sessions interesting.

GCDL Admission Process 2020: Fast Facts

GITAM Visakhapatnam has a distinct department of Distance Learning that offers several courses at UG, PG and diploma level. The deemed-to-be-University conducts GAT UGTP and GAT PGT for granting admission to is UG and PG courses, respectively. A brief overview of the selection process is listed below:

• For BA, BCom and DESM, admission is granted based on GAT UGTP rank
• Admission to all PG courses, including MA, MSc, MBA, MCA and MCom is based on candidate’s performance in GAT PGT
• Candidates willing to seek PGDCS, DCE or DCA admission are evaluated based on aggregate obtained in previous qualifying degree/ exam and seat availability

GCDL Admission 2020: BA, BCom

Under the UG wing of GITAM Centre for Distance Learning, BA and BCom programmes are offered for a duration of three years. Candidates willing to seek admission are evaluated based on their fulfilment of basic eligibility criteria and GAT UGTP rank. GCDL PG Admission 2020

At PG level, GITAM Centre for Distance Learning offers five courses, including MA, MSc, MBA, MCA and MCom in various specialisations. GCDL follows a common PG selection criteria for all the post-graduate level courses, which is through GAT PGT score obtained by eligible candidates. The details of these courses are enlisted below:

GCDL Admission 2020: MA, MSc

GITAM Centre for Distance Learning MA and MSc admission is based on GAT PGT rank. It offers these programmes in distance learning mode for a duration of two years, respectively. Candidates, who are willing to seek admission, can go through the details tabulated below:

GCDL Admission 2020: MBA, MCA, MCom

At PG level, GITAM Centre for Distance Learning offers three more PG programmes, including MBA, MCA and MCom. Apart from MCA which is a three-year course, MBA and MCA programme are offered for a duration of two years. For MBA programme, candidates also have an option to specialise in Human Resource Management after completing their first year of General MBA. Candidates willing to seek admission to any of these PG courses are required to appear for GAT PGT. The final merit list is prepared by GCDL based on fulfilment of eligibility criteria and GAT PGT rank.

GCDL Admission 2020: PGDCS, DESM, DCE, DCA

In addition to the above courses, GITAM Visakhapatnam offers four additional diploma courses in distance learning mode. These one-year additional diploma courses include Post-Graduate Diploma in Communication Skills (PGDCS), Diploma in Environmental and Sustainable Management (DESM), Diploma in Communicative English (DCE) and Diploma in Computer Applications (DCA). Admission to DESM is through GAT UGTP rank, while for PGDCS, DCE and DCA, the admission is based on merit of previous qualifying degree/ exam.

GCDL Application Process 2020

Admission to all the programmes offered at GCDL is done online through the official website of GITAM (www.gitam.edu). The application process for all UG, PG and diploma, certificate courses is the same. The deemed University charges an application fee of Rs 1,000 that can be paid online using debit card/ credit card/ net banking. Given below is a step-by-step process to enrol at GITAM Centre for Distance Learning:

Step 1: Visit the official website of GITAM. Scroll down to the bottom of the homepage and click on ‘Apply Online’.

Step 2: Select ‘Centre for Distance Learning’ from the available drop-down menu along with the course for which you wish to seek admission. Hit ‘Apply Now’ once done. Further, click on ‘New Applicant’ to register yourself online.

Step 3: Register by addressing details, including your name, email ID, mobile number. Create an alpha-numeric password for future logins.

Step 4: On the first page of the application form, fill all the personal details, including guardian information, gender, category, etc. Also, upload a recent passport-size photograph in JPG format (up to 200 kb).

Step 5: In the second page, add details regarding address of communication, including permanent and local address

Step 6: Further, add details of educational qualifications. Also, add entrance exam score (if any). Select hostel and transport facility specifications as per the requirement.

Step 7: Select test center and dates (in case of GITAM in-house entrance exam). Also, choose the subject specification for the respective entrance exam.

Step 8: Upload all the required documents to support the info furnished in the application form. Hit ‘Proceed’ to reach the final step of the application form.

Step 9: Select the type of fee to be paid. Click on ‘Registration Fee’ to reach the payment gateway. Pay the prescribed amount using debit card/ credit card/ net banking.

Step 10: Conclude the application process by downloading the filled application form and payment confirmation receipt for future references
