Commonly asked questions
Q:   What are the books to be used for NEET chemistry preparation?
A:
Some of the best books for NEET Chemistry are: 1. NCERT Chemistry textbooks for Class 11 2. NCERT Chemistry textbooks for Class 12 3. Dinesh Chemistry Guide 4. Organic Chemistry by Morrison and Boyd for Organic Chemistry 5. Organic Chemistry Objective by Arihant 6. Moderns ABC of Chemistry for Class 11 and Class 12 7. Physical Chemistry by OP Tandon 8. Physical Chemistry by P Bahadur 9. Concise Inorganic Chemistry by JD Lee 10. Practice Books by VK Jaiswal (Inorganic), MS Chauhan (Organic) and N Awasthi (Physical) Apart from these, you must also refer to previous years' NEET question papers and take ample mock tests to excel in this subject.
Q:   Which books are really good for the preparation of NEET other than NCERT?
A:
The NCERT books help you in clearing your doubts regarding the concepts. Conceptual clarity is really important both for NEET and JEE exams. Other than that, you can refer to Arihant and MTG books. They have a good approach in the practice exercises and are all to the level of NEET only. They can help you a lot. Then in these books, you can refer to the previous years' questions and so you can get an idea of the questions and the type of questions that are repeated. Practice more and try to solve many questions in time. That will help you to get good marks which will eventually lead you to a good college through the NEET exam. All the best!

Q:   Is Earthworm topic included in NEET Biology syllabus?
A:

No, the topic or chapter on earthworm is not included in the NEET Biology syllabus. The NEET syllabus underwent changes wherein certain topics were removed and various topics have been added from other state Boards. In the NEET revised syllabus, there was no mention of the Earthworms topic. Under the unit of Structural Organisation in Animals and Plants, the topic of 'Nervous and reproductive of an insect and Frog.' Based on last year's syllabus, it is estimated that the insect is cockroach, along with frog. Hence, it can be estimated that the Earthworm topic will not be included in the NEET Biology syllabus as well.

Q:   Which topics were removed from the Biology subject of the NEET syllabus?

Q:   Why was the NEET 2024 syllabus changed?
A:

The National Testing Agency (NTA), had clarified the reason behind changing the NEET 2024 syllabus. NTA stated, "Due to the COVID-19 scenario, various School Boards deleted portions of each subject's syllabus. The deleted portion is still not being taken back by these Boards. The deletions were not uniform across various boards. Hence, a number of requests were received by the NTA for the revision of the syllabus." Last year, before the NEET exam, several students and parents asked NTA to release the rationalised NEET syllabus. Since the syllabus of NEET was already released before the rationalisation took place,

How to Prepare for NEET Chemistry Section?

Preparing for the NEET Chemistry section may be different from that of the other two sections. First and foremost, you should be thorough with the NEET Chemistry syllabus and question types. Have a look at the NEET 2026 preparation tips:

  • The first and foremost step is to complete the syllabus.
  • After completing the preparation, you are advised to take a preliminary mock test to identify your preparation level. Based on that, you can identify your strong and weak areas. You should spend more time improving the weak areas, and if, after multiple attempts, you are unable to improve, then you may omit those topics and work on your strong suits, and those topics that have a scope for improvement.
  • After reading the textbooks and completing the NCERT, you can solve the NCERT Exemplar and the best books for NEET Chemistry preparation. After completing each chapter, solve the worksheets or practice papers to test your preparation level.
  • After completing the NEET Chemistry preparation, the best way to check the preparation level is by taking sectional mock tests. This will help you assess your preparation level and help plan the further strategy. After taking the mock tests, ensure that it is checked by your teachers and a proper analysis is given on them.
  • Solving the NEET question papers will give exposure to candidates about the Chemistry question types and topics covered. Hence, it is one of the golden rules of preparation.

NEET Chemistry Syllabus Analysis

As per the NEET analysis of last year, the difficulty level of the Chemistry chapters for NEET was easy to moderate. The Chemistry section was a balanced mix of physical, organic, and inorganic chemistry. The questions ranged from straightforward factual questions based on direct concepts from the NCERT textbooks to more application-based questions. The highest weightage was given to 'Organic Chemistry: Some Basic Principles and Techniques. Out of 50 questions, nine were numerical-based, seven involved matching the following, and five were statement-based.

No, NEET is not required for BPT admission in most Chennai colleges. Most private BPT colleges in Chennai, including SRIHER, and Saveetha, admit students based on Class 12 academic merit. Applications are submitted directly to the college's official website.

Currently, NEET is not required for most physiotherapy admissions. Most colleges admit students based on Class 12 marks. However, from 2026 onwards, NEET is expected to become mandatory as per the NCAHP notification. Students applying from 2026 onwards should keep NEET preparation as a priority.
