University Grants Commission chairman and outgoing Jawaharlal Nehru University Vice-Chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar said that the students and colleagues at the varsity were ''delightfully receptive'' to new ideas and changes introduced by the administration in the functioning of the institution. While recalling his appointment as the Vice-Chancellor of JNU, he said he did not know anyone in the university when he assumed office in 2016.

"When I entered my office on 27 January 2016, I did not know anyone in the JNU. But now in 2022, my wife and I can very fondly say that we met incredible people at the JNU and enjoyed very pleasant interactions with you and your families. It was only because of this that we had a joyful stay on the campus," he said.

"Students and colleagues were delightfully receptive to many new ideas and changes that we introduced in the academic and administrative functioning of the university. I tried always to be available to all the stakeholders - students, staff and faculty members. We used to have weekly afternoons exclusively reserved for such interactions," he said.
