Some of the colleges affiliated to Mumbai University have released their first and second merit lists on August 6 and August 11, respectively, for admission to the UG and Integrated programmes. The third MU merit list 2020 will be released on August 17, 2020. To check the Mumbai University merit lists 2020, students would need to visit the respective official websites of the affiliated colleges or the official website of the Mumbai University. The Mumbai University merit lists have been prepared on the basis of the marks scored in the qualifying examination.
This year, around 3.3 lakh students have registered and 6.2 lakh applications have been filled for admissions to the Mumbai University. The Merit Lists have been released for admission to around 743 affiliated colleges in programmes such as FYBA, FYBSWA, FYBCom FYBSc, FYBMS, FYBVoc, FYB Library Science and FYBPA Some of the top colleges affiliated to the Mumbai University which offer admissions to the UG and Integrated programmes are Jai Hind College, Institute of Forensic Science, Ghanshyam Das Saraf College of Aarts and Commerce, HR College of Arts and Commerce, Narsee Monjee College, among others.
The Mumbai University merit is prepared separately for all categories including Open, SC, ST, Defence, among others. Along with the categories, the merit list of Mumbai University is released individually for streams such as Arts, Commerce and Science stream.
The entire admission process of admission to the University of Mumbai got delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mumbai University Second Merit List
The Mumbai University Second merit list was released on August 11, 2020. The cut-offs for most degree courses in the second merit list by colleges remained similar to last year. Only a marginal drop was seen across courses as compared to the first merit list. Only a few colleges have released the merit list, while the merit lists for other colleges have gotten delayed due to COVID-19.

Mumbai University Third Merit List
The Mumbai University released the MU third merit list on August 17, 2020, on its official website. Candidates need to complete the online document verification process and pay the admission fee from August 18 to August 21.

Merit list out, what after that?
Qualified students will have to get their documents verified. The document verification process is where the candidates have to submit their original documents for verification based on which their admissions will be confirmed. No such candidates will be offered a seat who will not appear for the document verification round of Mumbai University. The document verification window will close on August 17, 3 pm for the second merit list. The third merit list will be released on August 17. Those who have not got admission yet will be able to do so in the third list. This is likely to be the last merit list for MU.
After finishing the document verification process, students need to pay the admission fee to claim their seat. The university will conduct the counselling rounds after the declaration of each merit list. The counselling process usually starts after the merit list is published.

Dilemma for final year students
While the admissions for fresh first-year students are on, the decision on final year exams is still awaited. Despite the state government order stated that it will not hold exams, the UGC in Supreme Court has said that state governments do not have the right and UGC is the final authority. The final decision on exams is yet to be declared by the apex court.
