If you're choosing a B.Tech in CSE between LPU, UPTU, and IPU, the decision mostly depends on the kind of experience you want. UPTU and IPU follow an affiliation-based system, so your experience largely depends on the individual college you join—some are good, some are average, and placements vary a
As my days of college come to an end, I still vividly remember my first day. It was the day of my admission, the 16th of month December, the year of 2021. I had been to many colleges for visits before that, a number surely no less than 10, and yet, this college and this university somehow had the vibe that told me: I belonged here. I recall going to the canteen area, the place where Nescafe and Mother Dairy shops stand now, and ordering a cheese corn sandwich with a cold coffee. Now, I never had been much of a person who eats out but somehow, this combo compelled me. They had an amazing flavor and it was the first of many meals that I had on campus. As I sat there in the central courtyard having my hearty sandwich, I would casually look around at the buildings of various departments that this university harboured. Law, management, architecture, mass communication, disaster management, legal management, and many more such courses. Then there was mine, the engineering department. My department had been around for well over 20 years at that time and you can be sure it is an amazing department. It also completed its 25 years recently and it is going ever strong as you’d expect.
USICT's Engineering Department: A Legacy of Excellence
USICT, the University School of Information, Communication and Technology; the Department for Engineering which has produced some of the finest engineers in the industry and is always trying and competing with the best institutes there are. With a record 100% placement streak reigning for many many years, providing average packages of 9-12 LPA and with the highest going as high as 48 LPA as of 2023, there really wasn’t much that you could nitpick out to downplay their stats. It is a fact that it is a good college, and they have numbers to back up that claim.
Situated at the Main Campus of GGSIPU, Dwarka Sec-16, it is the top college under the Indraprastha University domain that one can opt for. The batches of the college are very limited, with there only being three for one of each course: Computer Sciences, Information Technology, and Electronics and Communication. As of the admission year 2024-25, two more new courses have been added namely CS-AI (Artificial Intelligence) and CSE-DS (Data Sciences). The college acknowledges the ever-changing trend of technology and the market and surely makes changes to reflect it.
IPU is counted among the good universities in the country. GGSIPU is ranked 1001-1200 by the QS World University Rankings 2024. In the NIRF 2024 ranking, it was ranked 80 under the "University" category. The placement data for the GGSIPU BBA course is not available as of now. The highest and average package offered stood at INR 45 LPA and INR 12 LPA, respectively for IPU Engineering (USCIT) placements 2022.
Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University is a decent choice to pursue an MBA degree. Talking about the GGSIPU ranking, the University was ranked 65 in the Management category by the National Institutional Ranking Framework in 2024. However, Outlook in its 2024 rankings has placed the university at the 15th spot. IP University also offers placement opportunities to its students. During IPU placements for MBA in 2022 at USMS, the median package offered was INR 5.60 LPA. Additionally, the placement percentage achieved was 91%.
Each batch size is around 60-70 students each making a total of my batchmates numbering up to only 200. With 200 brilliant minds all around you with their various burning passions and dreams, it is hard to not get pumped up just by being around them. One could count as many interests as there are the number of students. Software development, frontend web development, backend development, full-stack development, flutter, DSA, the study of embedded systems, their real-time applications, electromagnetic phenomena, high-level electric circuit understanding, etc. There really is no end to the list of skill sets that USICT allows you to build throughout your curriculum.
Beyond Academics: The Vibrant Life at USICT
USICT, though, has never just been about engineering. There are lots and lots of clubs that you can join as per your interests and passion ranging from technical clubs like ACM, IEEE, Techspace, and Alumni Committee to cultural clubs like Aveksha (Dramatics soc), Swar (music soc), Mudra (dance soc), Abhivyakti (literature soc) and many many more. Some of these clubs are common for the whole university and thus they give you an excellent chance to meet people other than in your department as well.
All in all, I can tell you firsthand that being a student at USICT is an amazing experience with its great crowd, amazing faculties, variety of people that you meet, and the opportunities and experience that it provides you of the world.

Results came out in early July 2025.
After results, universities run admissions/counselling (seat‑allotment, document verification, fee payment, etc.).
Because of that — classes typically begin a few weeks to 1–2 months after result declaration,

No, CAT is not the only exam based on which admission is granted. GGSIPU accepts the CAT percentile for MBA admission basis on which a merit list of selected candidates is released for the counselling round. Moreover, for the MBA in IT course, the university conducted IPU CET exam is accepted. In case the seats are left vacant after CAT candidates, then the seat allotment is carried out based on the candidate's CMAT scores.
