Swagat talked about her CBSE 10th board exam preparation routine, his reaction to Class 10 CBSE results, tips for upcoming aspirants and more. CBSE Board Exams 2025 were conducted from February 15 to March 18, 2025. The Board announced the CBSE Class 10 Results 2025 on May 13.

CBSE 10th Topper 2025 Swagat Mohapatro has secured 98.6%, i.e., a total of 493 marks in CBSE 10th Board Exams 2025. Swagat, a student of Sai International School, Bhubaneswar, aspires to pursue a career in Engineering. Talking about his dream college, Mohapatro expressed his interest in IITs and IIMs. Swagat has scored 99 marks in Mathematics and Science subjects, 98 Social Science, 97 in English, and 94 in Hindi.  

In an exclusive interview with Shiksha.com, Mohapatro talked about his CBSE 10th board exam preparation routine, his reaction to Class 10 CBSE results, tips for upcoming aspirants and more. How was your reaction after seeing the results? Did you score what you expected?

I was overwhelmed and happy to see my results. Yes, I scored as I expected.

Please tell us something about your family background.

My father is a civil engineer by profession and presently the head of the business east region in L&T. My mother is a housewife. My eldest sister is BTech in computer science from NIT Patna and works in PWC. My elder sister is pursuing an MTech in Biotechnology from KIIT.

Please tell me about the stream that you are targeting.

I plan to pursue the Science stream.

What was your strategy to score above 95%?

I used to study for 5-6 hours every day. I considered my home assignments seriously as it provide fundamental clarity of the concepts. Along with that, I solved scanners, workbook, and worksheets for a higher understanding. Apart from NCERT textbooks, I referred to RD Sharma and Pradeep’s for mathematics and science, respectively. To improve my speed, I solved sample papers and PYQs. Most importantly, pre-boards should be taken very seriously as they give a brief idea of the board exam pattern and underscore the areas where you need to work upon.

Did you take any online or offline coaching?
No

Who encouraged you the most in this journey?

Principal sir, CIL ma’am, teachers and my parents encouraged and motivated me the most in this journey.

What was your routine during the CBSE board exam preparation?
I studied for 8 hours every day and allocated time for each subject. I took a 15-minute break after completing a subject and would take a nap in the afternoon to refresh my mind. I would also give some time for football as a healthy and focused mind needs a healthy body.

What are your future plans? Which career path are you aiming for?
I wish to pursue BTech in Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning) from a reputed institute like IIT, NIT, and MBA.

What is your favourite subject?
My favourite subjects are Mathematics, Chemistry, and Computer Science.

Are you planning to begin preparing for any entrance exam?

Yes, I plan to prepare for IIT-JEE.

What is your dream college/institute?
My dream college/institute is IIT, NIT Rourkela and IIM.

What are your future goals?
I wish to solve the perennial problems in society by implementing artificial intelligence through applying Computer Science skills.

Please share some tips for students prepping to appear in CBSE Board Exams 2026

  • Allocate time for each subject.
  • Prioritize chapters as per weightage.
  • Be consistent and work hard.
  • Solve PYQs.

Marksheet and Adhaar details must be matched. So you have to approach to 10th passing school with relevant documents. The school will submit the application to CBSE regional office for correction.

After 10th you need to complete your 10+2. However, if you are adamant about exploring a career in journalism, it is advised to take the humanities stream in 10+2 instead of Maths or Biology. Yes you can do but not as a full-timer. After 10th you will only be eligible for part-time or vocational courses like in Photography,  Editing, etc. because to get a degree in journalism you need to have a minimum qualification of 10+2 and only then you will be allowed to enter the college or media
