Kerala University launches short-term online open courses
The Kerala University has launched a new platform through which it will be offering various online open courses.
The Massive Online Open Courses (MOOC) platform is aimed at unlimited participation from students and open access via the internet.
Through MOOC, the university will be offering a series of short-term courses online. The first online MOOC course being offered by KU is on the subject 'making powerful multimedia presentations'.
Professor Achuthsankar S Nair, Department of Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, University of Kerala is the instructor for these short-term courses.
The first course, which is of six weeks duration, will instruct the students in sharpening their PowerPoint Presentation skills. Those who already have a fair knowledge of Microsoft Office PowerPoint or LibreOffice-Impress presentations, are eligible to sign up for the course which is free of cost.
The programmes includes six lectures accompanied by a series of multiple choice questions to be answered after each lecture. At the end of the programme, the candidate will be assessed on the basis of a given PPT and also a 3-slide PPT on any topic of your choice.
Course facilitator and course instructor will be available online for students to connect with at seek help from.
KU will be introducing more courses soon. Registration for this MOOC is currently underway and according to instructor Achuthsankar S Nair, 30 people had signed up for the course within the first hour of the opening of registration process on Wednesday.
