B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering - Batch of 2027
4.0
A great place to enjoy and study .
Placements: I am a mechanical engineering student. The percentage of placements is pretty low in the mechanical branch, but there are still opportunities we can pursue. The overall placements are really good; CS is getting good placements and safety and fire, which is an iconic branch of CUSAT, gets about 100% placement .
Infrastructure: Infrastructures are pretty good in our course, but not that much when it comes to hostels. Hostels offer minimal living conditions but when compared with the prices, they are a great pick at only around $500–$600 per month. The food in the mess is actually good. Classrooms are average but labs offer good infrastructure with advanced machines.
Faculty: In my personal opinion, the faculty are actually good; they have enough knowledge, except for some of them. The curriculum is also set in such a way that it merges with the current industry requirements, but somewhere it is a little bit stuck in the past. In engineering, there are 2 internal exams, 1 practical exam and one semester ED exam. The exams for core subjects are a little bit hard .
Other: The campus life is absolutely awesome; you can enjoy the entire city. The nightlife at the college and its premises also offer you a great experience .

I am not satisfied with placements.
Placements: Placements are the best. Most of the students are placed in IT and CS. The highest salary package offered was 56 LPA and the lowest salary package offered was 4 LPA. Around 50% of students got placed. Placements are decent for core branches such as mechanical and civil.
Infrastructure: Campus is good but the ground is not developed. College infrastructure is the same as a nominal government college. Labs are neat and well maintained. Library is very small but the books provided are enough for all the semester references.
Faculty: Teachers are well accredited. They are available all the time. Teaching quality is above the standards. The course curriculum is relevant and make the students industry-ready after 4 years.
Other: I chose this course because of my interest in the mechanical engineering field. Events found are mostly organised by the students but both local and other people attend them. Activities are conducted.

Satisfied this year because of good placements.
Placements: Almost 50% of the students got placements this year. Student those who were eligible got placements. The highest salary package offered was 29 LPA. The lowest salary package offered was 1.89 LPA. The average salary package offered was around 5 LPA. MRF, IBM, Infosys, TCS, Cisco, were the top recruiters. Roles of executive engineer, manager were offered. The highest salary package offered in our course was 12 LPA. The lowest salary package offered in our course was 1.89 LPA. The average salary package offered in our course was around 3.5 LPA. Around 10% of the students got internships.
Infrastructure: The college is situated in a village which is about 15 km away from the nearby city. It is almost 70 km away from the main university campus. Facilities here are not up to the mark, but it is a very good place for studying as this place has a lot of greenery, which is far from the city crowd and pollution. It has got free Wi-Fi, labs, and a library. The food served here is good from any other college. The canteen is not good. Even we get good playing atmosphere.
Faculty: Teachers here are knowledgeable, qualified, and helpful as well. There are permanent faculty, temporary faculty and guest faculty as well. Permanent faculty have an average experience of 20 years. Temporary faculty are pursuing PhD in their respective fields, and they are very much kind and loving. The IT curriculum is relevant. But it does not make us industry-ready, and the students need training.
Other: I have chosen this course as, since childhood, I liked cars and bikes a lot. I used to remember the price, model, specification. Even my family is somewhat involved in the automobile sector. I think there should be an improvement in practical knowledge. Every year, the college organises fest, sports meet and provides scholarship, etc.

Review of Cochin University College of Engineering Kuttanad, CUSAT.
Placements: Placements in this college are the best. Most of the students placed are from IT or CS branch. The highest salary package offered was 56 LPA and the lowest salary package offered was 4 LPA. Nearly 50% of the students got placed from IT and CS batches.
Infrastructure: Our college has the best Wi-Fi around here, i.e., Google Wi-Fi for an hour at a maximum speed of 3 MBps daily. Labs are neat and well-maintained. The library is small, but books provided are enough for all semester references. Mess and canteen provided are neat and clean.
Faculty: Teachers here are well-accredited like college, and they are available for students at all times. Teaching quality is up and above the standards as compared to most of the colleges out there. The course curriculum is relevant and makes students industry-ready after 4 years.
Other: I have chosen this course because of my sole interest in core subjects of mechanical engineering. Events found here are mostly organised by students alone, but it is attained by both local and other people. Activities are also conducted here.

It is a renowned university with mesmerizing campus life.
Placements: CUSAT offers decent placements with good salary packages. Many top brand companies visit CUSAT for recruitment. Good placements were reported only in the engineering section. The average salary package offered is 2 LPA. Almost 50-60% of the students were placed. Most of the students from mechanical engineering were placed in the research and development section.
Infrastructure: CUSAT provides very good infrastructural facilities. University provides sophisticated labs, digital classrooms, high-speed free Wi-Fi, clinic, physical training centre, martial arts training, indoor game clubs, various outdoor game courts and playground. There is a library with a vast collection of books in every subject. Labs are well organised and confine all equipment. These facilities attract researchers to the university. The food served in the campus canteens is good and at affordable prices. There are three canteens on the campus. Hostel rooms are designed for two students. Room is equipped with two beds, two tables, two chairs, and two cupboards.
Faculty: Faculty members of CUSAT are well qualified and experienced. Most of the engineering faculty members are graduated and some researchers from IITs. All are experienced in their respective field. They are very helpful in academics and non-academic matters. Apart from iterating subjects, they give basic knowledge of the subject relating to real life scenarios. Department promoted internships and industrial visits are conducted. All the students attend a minimum of 2 internships in respective fields. The course curriculum of CUSAT is similar to IITs and NITs. It may feel difficult but offers good competence.
Other: CUSAT is colourful in the sense of large varieties of programs conducted on the campus. Throughout the year at least two to three events can be found per month. The first main event is the celebration of Onam. Then comes tech fest Dhishna. Proceeding there is college art fest named Vipanchika, university art fest named Sargam, fests and celebrations of other departments, union day celebration, election, 12 hostel fests and a lot more. The campus is at the heart of Kochi. There is good access to the city. There is a metro station dedicated to the university.

Good college compare to other private college in india.
Placements: Talking about the placement 80% of seniors are placed but placement in core companies is a little bit less. The highest placement in mechanical for current batch is 8-9 Lacs. And the lowest is about 3.6 Lacs
in CUSAT 3 internships are compulsory and you can easily find it in Kochi or nearby.
there is a placement cell which is working quite well for the student to get placement.
Infrastructure: Talking about infrastructures it is average with basic facilities available. We have two libraries with sufficient amount of books available.
There is a sports centre gym and ground available.
We have a good canteen but basically with south Indian food and CUSAT restaurant with some north Indian food at a cheap rate.
Hotels are not sufficient to fulfil the demand many students live in private hotels nearby.
Faculty: The course curriculum is nice with very supportive faculty members. As in CUSAT, we have to score 50% of the total to pass the examination, come with a mindset that you to study consistently to pass the exam
the faculty member in, mechanical are well knowledgeable with a degree from decent institute from India.
Other: Campus connectivity is good it is connected by metro, bus services
there are tech fest&art fest.
there is the club to which you can explore your inner talent ex-music club, aerospace club, etc.

The infrastructure and placements are good, but students can't have a good campus life.
Placements: Placements in college are decent for core branches such as mechanical and civil, but CS and IT branches have massive placements. Many IT companies such as Amazon, TCS, IBM and Infosys recruit a large number of students. Vedanta, Godrej, L&T and ACC are the main recruiters for core branches. Students get an average salary package of around 5 LPA. The fire and safety branch in CUSAT has very good placements. Many PSUs such as ONGC recruit students with an average package of around 9 LPA.
Infrastructure: The campus is good, but the grounds are not well developed. The infrastructure of our college is the same as a nominal government college. It has well-equipped labs like a mechanical lab, electrical lab, machine lab, IT lab, fluid mechanics lab, and photonics lab. The campus has a hostel, but students in the 1st year do not get rooms in the hostel.
Faculty: The course curriculum is good but a little outdated. Faculty members are not up to the mark. A few faculty members are very good, but many are not up to the mark. Faculty members are the same as in other NITs in India. Students have to study on their own. Teachers are very strict during evaluation.
Other: A tech fest named Dishna is conducted every year, and an art fest called Vipanchika is also conducted.

Good placements in 2018. and academically sound college.
Placements: The placement of fire and safety engineering is incomparable. Many PSUs like ONGC, IOCL, BPCL, HPCL etc. Recruit directly from campus. Other branches have also good placements except of civil engineering. In mechanical engineering this year students got placed in Godrej, Vedanta, Adani, and other companies. Ceat gave internship offer to mechanical students. Reliance also came for PPO for fire and safety engineering students.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is also good here. But on a 5 star rating this would get only 4. There is no medical facilities in university. But, lab is very good. There is also provision of sports event. Library is very good. It has two library. One is University library and other is school of engineering library. Wi-Fi facilities are available only in library. Classroom is of average infrastructure. But there is facility of projector inside classroom. I didn't faced any infrastructure related issues till now. In canteen, there is no north indian food available. That is only a problem for north indian students. But, south indian dish is also good and it's quality is very superior.
Faculty: Faculty are very qualified, knowledgeable here. They are very much helpful. One should join this college if he wants to learn something. Teaching methodology is excellent. There are total 36 faculty members in mechanical department and 100 students only. In other departments too there are many qualified faculty members. Ofcourse, we get industry exposure. Teaching methods used by teachers are practical, they complete syllabus on time.
Other: Scholarship for financially weak students, toppers of every semester,. Fest like vipanchika and Sargam. Tech fest event like dishna is organised every year. Not much crowded campus. Connectivity is provided only in library.
