Great college for core branches and students who are really passionate about engineering.
Placements: About 80% of the students are being placed at either core or non-core companies. A great percentage of core placements are reported, and it is one of the highest in Kerala. Core companies like JSW, MRF, Ashok Leyland, and Annora instrumentation have given placements, and the average is above 6LPA.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is fair. Not excellent, but it has adequate facilities like Wi-Fi in college and hostel. Library facilities, and well-equipped labs are available for all courses. New hostels are being built to accommodate more students, and gradually, the infrastructure is also being developed.
Faculty: Teachers are qualified enough, and they have completed their studies from premier institutes of the country. Faculty members of our department are very friendly and are always available for help. They provide us space and time for non-academic activities and projects.
Other: If you are focusing on the KEAM exam, GEC Thrissur is one of the top colleges under the Kerala government. It has a huge alumni network, which helps us gain a lot of opportunities.

It has a strong infrastructure, good faculty, and decent placement rates.
Placements: It provides a decent placement rate from various top companies. Placements are the key concern. There are more placements in the IT sector than in the core engineering fields. In mechanical engineering, the top recruiting companies are L&T, MRF, etc. It provides average salary packages to students.
Infrastructure: It provides well-maintained classrooms, and modern features like a projector, Wi-Fi, and various engineering disciplines. The hostel is available with limited seats. It has a canteen. The mess facility is also provided. It has sports facilities like football and basketball.
Faculty: Very helpful and highly qualified faculty members are available here. Students can easily understand the topics. The course curriculum is outdated and not relevant to the current industry. It provides practical training and projects in the curriculum. Exams are moderately easy. Students can score high marks.
Other: It provides opportunities for socialising and personal growth.

My College - GEC Thrissur.
Placements: A few of the recruiters that visit for Mechanical Engineering are Mahindra, Reliance, MRF, and Larsen & Toubro. Almost every student gets placed, either in the core sector or the IT sector, with a minimum package of 5 LPA. The placement cell is also active.
Infrastructure: The food at the college canteen is awesome and affordable, and it is very cheap compared to outside cafes. In the morning, it offers a variety of breakfast options, and in the afternoon, it offers a variety of lunch options, with both non-veg and veg, and also tea and coffee with snacks. The hostel fee is Rs. 4,000, but the stay is average.
Faculty: Faculty members are well-qualified, experienced, and very helpful. The exams are conducted as semester at the end of a semester, and two series of exams for internal evaluation.
Other: I chose this course because I like to work with machines. This is Kerala's 2nd best engineering college based on the NIRF ranking, after CET. For Mechanical Engineering, it is Kerala's best college and has well-experienced faculty. In order to get admission, you need to qualify for KEAM, and the CEE board, which conducts this test, and will allot a college according to your rank in KEAM and reservation criteria.

There are very few placements for mechanical engineering students, and students are forced to search for off-campus placements.

College has moderate facilities with well-equipped lab.
Placements: Almost all students get placed, either in the core sector or in the IT sector. Placed candidates get a package of 5 lakhs. Core companies for mechanical engineering are MRF, L&T, and others. Candidates receive support from faculty and from the placement cell.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is not bad at all but also not very modern. Classes have basic facilities like blackboards, projectors for presentations, and fans. Hostels are not very hygienic, but they are very cheap, and the food is pretty okay. Both the college and hostel have Wi-Fi facilities, but only for laptops.
Faculty: Faculty members are very supportive and helpful for both academics and co-curricular activities and are well-qualified. Teaching quality is really great. The course curriculum is relevant, with a project-based learning scheme. Semester exams are not so hard, but not so easy either.
Other: I like to work with machines. Campus Life is awesome.

Review of Government Engineering College, Thrissur.
Placements: Almost every student will get placed during campus placement. This college has a minimum salary package of 5 LPA. Every student who gets placed will receive a minimum salary package of 5 LPA jobs. Speaking about companies that come for placements for mechanical engineering, they include Mahindra and Mahindra, MRF, L&T, etc.
Infrastructure: Classes are not well modernised but are okay, with fully equipped labs, workshops, and a library. Campus and hostel have free Wi-Fi for laptops only. Speaking about classrooms, we have a blackboard and a projector for slideshows and presentations. Canteen serves good food at affordable rates.
Faculty: Faculty members are well-qualified and supportive. They support us in studies as well as co-curricular activities. Course curriculum are relevant, but students must study to get good grades. They also need to sharpen their skills alongside studies.
Other: It is best college in Kerala for mechanical engineering. Main events are Thrissur Motors Show (TMS) and Dyuthi, which is a tech-cum-cultural fest.

It is my luck to get admission to this college because those 4 years are precious to me.
Placements: There are lot of placements in my college. For mechanical engineering, the top companies are MRF, Reliance, Saint-Gobain, TCS, Infosys, Wipro, etc. Almost 75% of students got placement from here. The average package they offer is about 4 LPA. The job role offered initially is that of a graduate engineering trainee.
Infrastructure: My college is one of the best colleges in Kerala. We have lot of facilities, like free Wi-Fi, labs, workshops, huge library, indoor gym centre, 2 grounds, etc. The hostel is very good. In hostels, we also get Wi-Fi. One room is for 2 students. Every room is big and has other facilities. Mess food is very delicious. Every day there is non-vegetarian food (chicken, beef, eggs, fish, etc.). We have a medical dispensary near the college.
Faculty: The faculty in our college are very talented and supportive. They teach very well and also help us for other activities like project, workshops, innovative ideas, etc. We have 8 semester in 4 years. Every semester, we have 2 internal exam and one main exam. To qualify for main exam, we need to pass the 2 internal exams. The pass percentage in our college is more than 75%.
Other: I chose mechanical engineering. Because I liked it. We have lot of practical workshops and labs. We gained deep knowledge of machinery, thermodynamic design, etc. Nowadays, design engineering has gained importance in professional field so give more importance to design aspects. In our campus, there is a strong bond between seniors and juniors. That's why we get lot of unforgetable moments in there. We have a festival named DYUTHI, usually held in october or November. There are a lot of cultural and technical events held in there.

Honest review of Government Engineering College, Thrissur.
Placements: There were almost 60 students in my class and many of them got placed in top companies like TTE, TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Gulf Asian, etc. The lowest package was 4 LPA, and the highest was 12 LPA. Around 16% students got internship opportunities in Redbus, Simple Energy Pvt. Ltd., etc.
Infrastructure: There is Wi-Fi availability everywhere in the college and even in the hostel. The labs are well maintained and we also have a central library. The hostel is affordable but being in PG has a much higher rate. Hostel food is tolerable and we have all the outdoor sports facilities, including football, basketball, etc.
Faculty: Almost all the tutors are IIT graduates and they teach well. The curriculum was almost half practical and half theoretical so that we could develop skills in both fields. Semester exams are sometimes tough and sometimes easy and the pass percentage is 45%.
Other: Mechanical engineering has a big scope so we can switch into any field whenever. I wish to include more practicality in the curriculum so that the students will be industry-ready. The campus is jolly and so much fun, including cultural festivals and all.
