As I am in my 1st year still my experience is good. It is one of the best colleges in Durgapur.
Placements: The placement rate is good for a 3rd tier college. A lot of companies come to provide internships and placements. For EE the placement was 70% last year which is good with an average package of 4 LPA. Faculty members here help with placements too. Mission Hospital, DVC, and Reshmi Cement are some of the common companies here.
Infrastructure: I am not from the hostel but as much as I have heard from my friends in the hostel the rooms are okay. The food is good and students from 1st year and students from 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years have separate hostels. The college has good labs for every subject. They are equipped with the necessary equipment.
Faculty: Faculty members are good and helpful for the most part except of course a few exceptions. Exams are taken very securely and strictly. Mainly after the autonomy of the syllabus. The curriculum is designed for industrial needs from technical english to good experience.

BCREC is the best College in Durgapur.
Placements: Dr. BC Roy Engineering College provides many internship and pre-placement programs in the 5th semester. Our college has a better placement ratio among all Durgapur colleges. It is a better option to do BTech; in our session, placement provides around 3 to 6 LPA.
Infrastructure: BCREC infrastructure is wide and large, very attractive. Huge campus Wi-Fi 24/7, canteen and cafeteria, or well-designed labs are stabilised here. A large library, with 95000 books, is also here. Smart classes are well organised, and many more facilities are provided to students.
Faculty: Teaching staff are very highly qualified. They provide extra classes and doubt-solving classes to understand students’ problems smoothly. Many teachers come from IIT or NIT backgrounds. BCREC conducts exams semester-wise, and exams are very tough with CCTV cameras.

DR. B. C. ROY Engineering College.
Placements: Many companies like Accenture, Wipro, Tata Power, TCS, and different banks also came to offer jobs in our college. About 40 to 50 percent of students were placed in our course, but the main thing is different companies have different eligibility criteria for placement. The highest package offered is about 12 LPA, the average package is about 4.5 LPA, and the lowest package is about 1.5 LPA.
Infrastructure: In our college, there is 24x7 Wi-Fi available for students, and there are labs for different subjects. Our classrooms are smart classrooms because they have Smartboards, AC, and Alexa. There is also a library with tons of books and computers. The hostel facilities are very good, with two buildings for boys: one for 1st and 2nd-year students and another for 3rd and 4th-year students. The food quality in the mess is decent, offering both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable, as all teachers hold M.Tech or Ph.D. degrees. Each teacher has different teaching techniques; some use the smartboard, while others provide notes. The teaching quality is very good. Semester exams are difficult, as the seating arrangement is different, and cameras monitor every movement.
Other: Students with a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering can work in both government and private sectors. Every year, our college organizes a cultural fest and a tech fest, with each lasting for two days. During the tech fest, different types of competitions occur, such as root war, where you have to make your own route, quizzes, etc.

The placement during my time was better than the previous year at least regarding the number of companies, but all are of IT service-based companies.

Review of Dr. B.C. Roy Engineering College.
Placements: I am an electrical engineering student. Only a few students that are toppers in our class get placements like 6 lakh per annum or 10 lakh per annum, but average students mostly get packages of 3 lakh per annum. Students who have not worked hard in their college degree get no placement.
Infrastructure: Our college has a good campus life. Its campus is spread over 30 acres. It has a canteen and sports facilities for cricket, basketball, volleyball, and cricket. The grounds are maintained properly; during the rainy season the ground remains wet, and no activities are operating this time except this college concern about training students to make good sports players.
Faculty: Faculty members of this college are well qualified. Generally, people of family, if they have the degree, get a job in this college to teach. Some teachers teach really well, and the academics of this college are very strong. Exams are taken in time, and people with less than 75% attendance are marked absent.

Good facilities, but poor placements and mediocre hostel conditions.
Placements: Currently, I am in my 4th year. No one has been placed yet but the passed-out batch of 2024 has not received a really exciting package. A lot of companies denied coming at the last moment. Only 30%–40% of students get placed in my department (EE). Even the highest number of those placed is not impressive. From the Electrical Engineering Department, the highest package was 4.7 LPA and the lowest one was 1.8 LPA. We 4th year students got one month of vocational training in terms of an internship. But the good thing is they started providing placement assistance and organised special dedicated classes for placements.
Infrastructure: Course infrastructure is good at Dr. B. C. Roy Engineering College. Our laboratories have all types of machines and instruments equipped with the latest technologies. Also, we have a central library where a lot of reference books are available. They also provide text books for the semester. We rarely have smart or digital classrooms for core branches. But the main concern is about hostel infrastructure. They don't have any AC rooms, though they mentioned the availability of AC rooms in their brochure. They don't even have a single-occupancy room. Most rooms are double- and triple-occupied. And the rooms had not been maintained for long. Also, the food they provide in the mess is not so healthy. Medical facilities are available on campus. Also, we have two giant playgrounds for football and cricket, where they organize annual sports and inter-college competitions.
Faculty: Teachers are excellent, knowledgeable and qualified. But the thing is, knowledge and qualifications are less important than the teaching method. Most of the lecturers are boring. And so we have to prepare for the semester exams by ourselves. The course curriculum is relevant for the semester exams only; it does not make us industry-ready. Semester exams are arranged by the university (MAKAUT) but the worst thing is that every year an incident of a question paper leak happens. And it really hurt the students like us who work really hard for the semester exams. They don't have any control over it, even after a lot of complaints. Despite that, the passing percentage is below 60% in my electrical department.
Other: As I have done a Diploma in Electrical Engineering, I chose this course in B.Tech., but I regret choosing the right college. And you will realize it once you get into it. But I love some other things, like the fact that they provide some scholarships over the course fee, which definitely helps a lot of students. Even they provide complete assistance in availing of government scholarships. Our college organizes Technical Fest and Cultural Fest every year and these are really interesting and enjoyable. Our college also organizes various cultural programmes like Agomoni, freshers welcome, farewell programmes, Rabindra Jayanti, Nazarul Jayanti, Teachers Day, Independence day and more. One will get bus connectivity from Durgapur station. Also, we have some hotels, stationery shops, grocery shops and a local market nearby.

The college is good and is a good choice for admission.
Placements: The placements of the college are really good this year; the highest package was 14 LPA from B.Tech, and from MBA, the highest package was 12 LPA. Some companies like TCS, Wipro, Google, etc., come for hiring students. Students need to score above 7 CGPA to sit in placement exams.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college campus is vast. There are playgrounds, a gym for students, and many labs. Hostel facilities are available for both boys and girls. There is parking for 2-wheelers and 4-wheelers. There are four playgrounds for cricket, football, etc.
Faculty: The faculty members are all from IITs and NITs. They are very helpful and conscientious about the students. There are 8 semesters, and in each semester, there are 4 class assessments. The exams are quite tough. The pass percentage for semester exams is 40 percent.
Other: I chose this course because I love it, and there are many job opportunities in this field despite it being a core branch. A fest takes place every year named ZEAL.

Placements were quite good in the previous year.
Placements: Almost 75% of the students get packages over 4.1 LPA from companies like TCS and many other companies. A very small number of students get internships from colleges. Top roles like software development, manager and other roles are offered by the companies .
Infrastructure: Classrooms are excellent, with high-speed Wi-Fi, a good technical lab and good infrastructure. I don't know about the hostel, as I have my house here in town but yes, I have friends in hostel and they told me that they have good hospitality, including good food, etc.
Faculty: The teachers are very good, positive and full of knowledge. Good-quality teaching. The courses are relevant and these courses make students industry-ready. Semester exams are quite difficult and the passing marks are 40% in the semester and all the internals.
Other: I chose this course because I have an interest in electronic things and it exactly teaches us about electronics. I wish some computer courses were included in order to feel more industry-ready. Events like Zeal and Tech Fest are held annually.

Not in a good college for sure. As I myself ranked 264 in TFW category in WBJEE , but struggling to get admission in JADAVPUR UNIVERSITY.
