I am satisfied with its teachers and laboratories.
Placements: Around 90% of students are placed. The highest salary package offered is 9 LPA, and the average package offered is 3.5 LPA. The lowest salary package is 2.8 LPA. Recruiting companies are Smith and Zoon, Sucrose, Alkane, Shree Leathers, Khadims, Ajanta, and Bata. The internships are provided by many reputed companies like Alkane, Smith and Zoon, Shree Leathers, etc.
Infrastructure: Our college is fully loaded with laboratory equipment, classes, and a big library with many types of books. The new hostel is in progress, and the current hostel is fully loaded with 50 students and equipped with Wi-Fi facilities. The new building, which is under construction is capable of more than 100 students.
Faculty: Teachers are very qualified and well-behaved. They are fully loaded with knowledge. Our course curriculum makes students industry-relevant. There are eight semesters in the four-year B.Tech course, with four internals, two practical exams, and a one-semester exam with the practical exam. The pass percentage is 100% in the previous year.
Other: Our course curriculum is very unique, and it is based on biology and chemistry. This course should be highlighted. Events are held very frequently.

It has good enough placements and an enjoyable campus life. I recommend it.
Placements: About 2 LT students got placed in the IT sector, and 2 are pursuing M.Tech. The highest package offered in IT was 13.5 LPA. One student is placed in TCS Digital. Several placements at Accenture, Cognizant, etc., are taken. The average package for LT is around 2.4 LPA, and for CSE and IT, it may be around 4 LPA.
Infrastructure: The labs and classrooms are clean and have a projector facility. There are enough seats in the classes and library. College Wi-Fi is available, although buggy. It has free-to-use desktops in the library and enough books. The canteen is not available, but there are food stalls outside. A relatively new hostel in government quarters is available.
Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified and very helpful. One of our teachers plays a key role in CSE-IT placements. Internships are readily available for all streams. Leather sector internships are available in Bantala, where most of the LT students get placed, Alchem, Smit, Zoon, etc.
Other: Resurrection Fest, Techfest, Farewell, Sports, Tree Plantation, Independence Day, and Freshers for both B.Tech and lateral entry are held in our college.

It is one of the best government institutes in Kolkata.
Placements: About 70% of students placed in our college. The highest package was 13 LPA and the lowest package was 2.4 LPA. The average package was 6.25 LPA. Top recruiting companies are upGrad, Lexmark, Infosys, TCS, Cognizant, Siemens Digital Industries Software, etc. About 45% to 50% of students got internships from CLRI Kolkata. The top role offered in our course is software engineer.
Infrastructure: As a government institute, GCELT offers a lot of facilities like free Wi-Fi, digital labs, digital classrooms, a library, etc. Our college hostel is very reasonable. The hostel provides plenty of food. We have a huge playground, and all the hostelers usually play there.
Faculty: Our teachers are very knowledgeable and helpful. Our teachers help us to get internships from some famous companies. It is not difficult to pass the semester exams, but it is quite difficult to get good marks on semester exams. The teaching quality is standard. They conduct classes online and offline.
Other: It is a government institute, and I have to pay Rs. 24,000 to complete the whole course. We need to pay Rs. 3000 per semester. It is reasonable for us. Leather technology is our main stream, but we also have information technology and computer science engineering. Every year, great students pass out of this college.

I am satisfied because of good placements, and I got placed in VIP Industries Pvt Ltd in 2020.
Placements: Leather technology is a unique stream, and this stream capacity is 30 students, so the maximum number of students are placed in any leather company. Almost 80% of the students were placed. The highest salary offered is Rs. 30,000 per month, the lowest salary offered is Rs. 10,000 per month and the average salary offered is Rs. 15,000 per month. The top recruiting company of our college is VIP Pvt Ltd. Almost 70% of the students got an internship in TFL and Lanxess. As a leather technology engineer, we handle what chemicals required for raw material to the finishing process of leather.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi speed is average, but labs work is very good. Classrooms are also very good, and all books are available in the library. Government college hostel facilities are average, and the rooms are not clear. Hostel Wi-Fi is not available all time. About 3-4 students stay together in one room. In the mess, all facilities are available like Wi-Fi, food, cooking person, and there is a canteen in our hostel. Medical facilities are available here, and in sports and games tournaments, all students play together.
Faculty: Our college teachers are helpful with very good behaviour, and all teachers are qualified with a PhD degree from IIT and NIT. Even when we did not understand any study material, then they provide all-time help and suggest a good explanation. Our course curriculum needs to be more relevant. Students need a deep understanding of knowledge of industrial training, college study materials, and the college should also be able to maintain a good reputation.
Other: I have chosen this course because there is only one engineering college of this course in West Bengal, and I heard from college pass-out elder brother that all students are placed in any company. The best thing about our course is after qualifying the degree surely we will get a job in a leather company. I wish placements faculty members should coordinate with more leather companies of other states. In our college's is fests, all students are enjoying in this fest. Our college campus has a medium boundary, and our college students are not more, so campus crowd is silent. Near our campus, Jadavpur University is situated, and Dr BR Ambedkar Law College is also situated. After qualifying the degree, students who were toppers from 1st year to 4th year will get a scholarship from our college. Extracurricular activities like blood donation camp are held in our college one time in every year.

It is almost 100 years old college in West Bengal.
Placements: The placement rate is more than 70%, and students get placed in the leather technology trade. The highest salary package offered is 5 LPA. The lowest salary package offered is 1 LPA. Tata Leather is the top recruiting company. Roles of a project manager are offered. The highest salary package offered is 5 LPA. The lowest salary package offered is 1 LPA in Quantum System Private Limited. About 80% of the students got internships.
Infrastructure: In college, there is a Wi-Fi facility. Labs are very clean. Classrooms are cleaned daily. The library in the 1st floor is huge, and all semester related books are found there. There are huge hostels built by our college recently. The food quality is average. Even there is a huge ground to play.
Faculty: All the teachers here are very helpful, and they treat us very well. Even all the teachers are very friendly with the students. The teaching quality is very high. They are very old, so they are very knowledgeable. In leather technology, students are made for industry-ready because teachers all the time treat very well.
Other: I have chosen leather technology because it's a unique trade in West Bengal and there many things to learn. You will also know about the leather finishing very well. All students are not attending regularly, and that's why the syllabus is not completed. There are many cultural fests. Every year, sports game and many curricular activities are conducted, and that develops all students skills very well.

It is a decent government college.
Placements: Overall placements in the college were average. Don't expect 100% placements here. It is a small college. Hence if you are studying CSE or IT, you would most likely be invited for pool campusing. For leather technology, you would get a decent amount of opportunities. The college is trying to work on this front.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is as what can be expected from a government college. Still, our infrastructure is better than some other government colleges. We have spacious classrooms and decently sized computer labs. The library facilities offered are also okay.
Faculty: Faculty members in the college are approachable. Some faculty members are really helpful and knowledgeable. The course curriculum is as offered by any other WBUT college. A lot of changes are needed in the curriculum, but that is the case for most Indian institutions.
Other: The campus ground is lush green. You will meet a lot of intelligent people who will become your friends for life. Engineering is all about this peer-learning. We have a decently sized cultural and technical fest.

It is the value for money experience because of all the aspects.
Placements: In 2016, the placement scenario was awful. Only 25% of the batch of our stream got placed, and that too, they were not offered decent packages. The highest package offered was 3 LPA. Tata International Limited, Drish Shoes and VIP Industries were the only three companies that visited for on-campus placements. They took 6 students in total out of 40 students of our batch, and the rest are left to deal on their own. Internships were too good for us as during the industrial training, we were barely offered any stipend. Only one or two tannery offered at most of INR 2,000 per month. The placement cell was trash as our TPO was holding his prestigious designation in another college of our city. Overall, the placements were painful for our batchmates. I got placed, but I was still keeping my eyes open to see a bigger picture.
Infrastructure: Being a government college, we can neither say that the facilities were below expectations, to be honest, nor it was something that we could appreciate and rave about. The campus was Wi-Fi enabled. Classrooms were dilapidated. One would be surprised to know our college didn't have a single canteen. We used to go out of the campus to have our lunch. I can't really say about hostels as I hardly lived or visited there, but the hostel was quite at a distant place from our campus. Laboratories were well built, and some of them were air-conditioned as well.
Faculty: We had professors who were the beacons and really good in their respective subjects. As in our course, there is hardly any academic book. We counted on their teachings, and it was all that got us jobs at the end no matter how handful they were. One good thing which every student falls for is the course fee. The fee for the entire course of four years was just Rs. 32,000.
Other: Our fests were not too grand, considering the little batch size and other aspects. Events like inter-college games tournament, techfest, etc., are conducted every year. Our college is well connected having The WB National University of Juridical Sciences next to it. Our college can be reached within 1.5 hours from any part of Kolkata.

Overall a very good experience.
Placements: First of all I am from the 2012 pass out batch. During our tenure, Cognizant was the first company who did the campus recruitment followed by Capgemini. There are several other companies as well who made their footsteps. Cognizant made the bulk recruitment and I was among one of those lucky folks who got placed.
Infrastructure: During our tenure, infrastructure was moderate however heard that it has been completely changed. During that time, some of the labs were not equipped with advanced facilities. Library was good however not enough copies were there for a single book. But I must say they had a very good collection of books journals etc.
Faculty: Faculty members are good enough. A professor named Kartick was one of the top faculty of mathematics. However, I felt like faculty members can be made much better on subjects like C, Java etc. Also, there were not much practical classes which made it difficult to understand that topic.
