B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering - Batch of 2028

Cooch Behar Government Engineering College- A detailed review of B.Tech EE.
Placements: About 41% of students are placed from the EE course through on-campus placement. Some others opt for higher studies. The highest package is 7.36 LPA and the lowest package is 3.36 LPA for the EE batch. Top recruiting companies are Larsen & Toubro, Pinnacle Infotech, TCS, Cognizant, and others. Students of the EE department grab internships at N. F. Railway, Durgapur Steel Plant, Multidisciplinary Zonal Railway Training Institute KGP, WBSEDCL Dinhata, Circuit House Cooch Behar, HVDC Power Grid Alipur, Jadavpur University, etc. Top roles are Graduate Engineer Trainee and opportunities within the IT and power industries.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available everywhere. Classrooms are big and clean and the study environment is good. Almost 70 students can easily sit in the room. The library is really very good. All required course books are present. There is a big playground in the college. Mess and canteen food are really very good.
Faculty: Teachers of the college are really good. They help us in all academic needs. Their teaching quality is very good. One can easily understand and score well in exams by attending regular classes with dedication. The course curriculum is relevant to current industries' needs. The semester exams are good and easy if the student studies properly with dedication and discipline.
Other: Events and fests are really full of fun activities. There are many technical and innovative events organized in the college every year.

It has a hostel facility for 4th-year students and in 2025, it will be opened for 3rd-year students.
Placements: Our college provides average placements. The average salary package offered is 4 LPA. Multiple companies like TCS, L&T, and TLC visit our college to take students via interviews. A maximum number of electrical students get placed then CSE then mechanical, civil, and ECE.
Infrastructure: It provides a hostel for only the 4th-year students. Maybe in 2025 hostel will be open for 3rd-year students. The canteen is closed. There are multiple PGs near the college. In the hostel, food quality is better. There is Wi-Fi but not a table, so there are some network issues. The gym equipment was reached but the gym was not started.
Faculty: Our college is under MAKAUT University. The number of faculty members is less but they are good at tuition. They helped us in any way. An odd semester is much harder than an even semester. Teachers are highly qualified and highly experienced. The extra curriculum is mandatory for MAR points that were a must to avoid year lag.
Other: Our college organises multiple fests, events, sports, and extracurricular activities.

Average faculty members, Placements are below average, lacking improvements.
Placements: Placements vary every year. Like 20-30% of Core branches (including mine: EE) get placed on-campus, and the rest of the Non-Core branches get around 40-45% from on-campus placements. Top recruiting companies for Core are L&T, TEECL, offering Graduate Engineer Trainee roles. The highest package in Core is around 6-7 LPA, and the lowest is around 3 LPA. Most students in Core go for training from every Core branch; rarely do they go for internships in companies like TATA Power. The top role in my course is only: GET (Graduate Engineer Trainee).
Infrastructure: There is Wi-Fi throughout the whole campus. Labs are average, and classrooms are well-equipped with infrastructure (like projectors, boards). A digital library is available, and there's much space in the library building. Hostels for girls are available from the first year, but for boys, they are available from the 4th year only. The canteen has not been open for the last 3 years due to internal issues. Hostel mess food is average, and no medical facilities are available. There are 2 big open grounds for sports and gaming.
Faculty: Most skilled teachers are in Non-Core branches (ECE, CSE). All of the faculty members either have Ph.D. degrees or graduated from IITs or NITs. Teaching varies from teacher to teacher. The course curriculum is relevant, but it depends on the job role you are looking for, and yes, it does not make students industry-ready. You have to work for yourself; don't rely on the college teachers. Semester exams are managed by the university board: MAKAUT. The difficulty level is 3.5/5. The pass percentage is 40%.
Other: I chose Electrical because I wanted to study it from childhood, and the best thing about Electrical is that one has to study most of the engineering subjects, so one can be prepared to switch between core and non-core easily. To improve my course, they should add more practical classes and a proper PC setup for core software testing. Events are like: Saraswati Puja, Annual Tech cum cultural fest - Esperenza, Freshers welcome - Croeso, etc. The campus crowd is minimal, being near a village. Connectivity with the main road is good, and the surroundings look beautiful being on the bank of the Torsha River. Scholarships like OASIS, SVMCM are available if you're eligible. Extracurricular activities are generally done by the clubs of the college (like music, quiz, sports, etc. clubs) and units like NSS, where both teachers and students contribute.

Our lovely Coochbehar Government Engineering College.
Placements: 80% of the students from our course are placed. The highest package is 8 LPA, and the average package is 4 LPA. Top recruiting companies are TCS and Ambuja. But the placement record of our college is not so good. The course EE is one of the toughest branches, but it always gives a decent placement.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available everywhere. There is a lab with all the equipment. Classrooms are clean and well-maintained, and almost 60 students can sit in one classroom. There are almost 11000 books in our library. Only 4-year students can get a hostel. The canteen is closed for some time, but soon it will open. There are many clubs for indoor and outdoor games.
Faculty: All teachers are well taught. They teach us very well. I think college gives us only bookish knowledge. Our college semester exams are very tough to get a good score on. Most of the students pass, but only 10% students got above 60% number. But our teachers give their best to help all the students by teaching us.
Other: I mainly chose this college for government job preparation because it provides an environment for studying. The events and campus life of our college are awesome.

Our college needs support from the government for faculty, lab instruments, hostel opening, etc.
Placements: Our college is a government-funded college, so if I compare it with other government colleges, the placement rate is very low. The college needs to improve in terms of placements. Every student needs good internship support from the college. Very few students are placed.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is average; there is no hostel available for men. Lab instruments are not enough for a B.Ed. college. There are many good things, like a free library available for every student. The playground is available for different types of games.
Faculty: There is a lesser number of facilities, which is not enough for a government B.Ed. college. The college needs more faculty members. Our college is under MAKAUT University, so the semester is held according to the university schedule. The pass percentage for every semester is above 40%.

CGEC: An honest college review.
Placements: The placements are not up to the mark with roughly about10% students getting placed from the college campus. The highest package offered is 21 Lacs per annum (as told by one of my senior) and average package is 3.5 lacs per annum. Most of the companies are IT based companies, no core companies visit for campus interviews. Internships are available.
Infrastructure: The college infrastructure is good. The classrooms are well maintained, they are equipped with Wi-Fi and projectors along with fans and AC. There is a library consisting of more than 3000 books. Labs are available for all the departments and all the subjects have modern laboratory equipments. Hostels are available only for girls and boys of the 4th year only. Rest 3 years’ students have to stay in PGs. Sports like cricket, football, volleyball, basketball and badminton are available.
Faculty: The teachers are very helpful, qualified and knowledgeable. They teach us like small kids and explain everything very well, they are very approachable. My department is electrical and of course electrical is one of the toughest branches and if you know this subject you will get placed in any industry easily. The semester exam is moderate and 90% of the students pass.
Other: I am a lateral student. I took my Diploma from electrical engineering and it was very interesting to me, so I chose this branch for my B.Tech. The circuit power system is the core subject of this branch and it is very interesting to study. I suggest the college authority to improve the labs in this course. Events like freshers welcome, tech fest and all other events take place in our college. Almost 1200 students are present in the college. Wi-Fi coverage is available in the entire campus. The campus is situated beside river Torsa. The greenery makes our college very beautiful. Scholarships like SVMCM, Oasis and other scholarships are also available. For extra curricular activities, clubs like dance, music, art, drama, recitation, and photography are available.

Review of Coochbehar Government Engineering College.
Placements: This year no placement happened. Total 15 students got placed this year due to recession. In 2023, placement percentage was good. The average package is somewhere around 3.4 LPA. In Computer Science, there are only a few students got placement this year.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure-wise it is good but it needs regular maintenance. Wi-Fi, sports ground, etc., are also available. The college is quite big. It is near to the river Torsha. Labs are not well-equipped. We have a decent library but the timing of the opening of the library is limited.
Faculty: Faculty members are not good, to be honest. There are few faculty members in every department. Being a Government College, there is a shortage of faculty members. The course curriculum is according to MAKAUT. It is not as good as other premium institutes. However, we need some immediate improvements.

The best engineering college.
Placements: At least 30-35 students were placed from our course. The highest package is 30 LPA and the lowest package is 8 LPA. The average package is 11 LPA. L&T and TCS are the top recruiting companies. 50% students got internship in companies like L&T, TCS, NAGGARO, etc. Junior and senior engineer roles are offered in our course.
Infrastructure: We get so many facilities in our course like good classrooms, fast Wi-Fi, well maintained lab. Also, we were able to use a library where we could find every book. Hostel was too good. In our mess, we got well cooked food to eat. So many types of dishes were available there. We had a medical room in our hostel with 24 hours service.
Faculty: Our teachers were very helpful. They come from well known NITs and IITs. They were so much qualified. They gave every knowledge we needed during our course. The curriculum was very relevant to everyone and it made every student ready for the industry. Semester exams were not too hard to pass at all. Pass percentage was 40%.
Other: I chose this course because there are many opportunities in this course for private sectors and government jobs. There is nothing to improve but we need more encouragement from our faculty members. Our college organises so many events like sports tournament, HACK O THON and tech fest. Cultural fest is organised every year with the help of students. Every fest is so well organised and also so many students attend this programme
