Below-average college as compared to other gov. colleges.
Placements: Every year, almost 90% of students appearing for placements in my course are placed, most from on-campus and others from off-campus opportunities. I'm currently in my 3rd year, and the situation of the batch of my seniors (passing out in 2024) is pretty bad because of the recession in the IT industry. The maximum package offered on campus is 5 LPA this year. The highest package offered on campus was 9 LPA by Infosys. Zoho was the only product-based company that used to come to our college, but it has not come since summer 2023 until now and probably won't now because of the recession. It also offered summer internships, being the only company that offered internships at our college through the campus. The lowest package offered was 3.4 LPA by TCS and the average package for the 2023 batch was approximately 5 LPA (2024 batch placements aren't complete yet)
Top recruiting companies for CSE:
TCS, Persistent, Zoho, Hexaware technologies, crave infotech, SopeoNow, infosys, etc. Internships:
On-campus internships aren't available; only Zoho used to come for that, but it came last time in 2022 for internships for CSE. And when it used to come, it took 3–4 students from CSE. Talking about off-campus internships, about 20–30% of students get them, and in small companies, they are paid the bare minimum or not at all.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available throughout the whole campus; computer labs are good with fast PCs; classrooms are digital; and the library is good too. There is no canteen available yet as of 3/3/24, boys hostel has an intake of 180 students and has 6 floors; the girls hostel has intake of 100 students and has 4 floors Both hostels have lifts, and the cleanliness is good. Only 1 flaw in the boys hostel is that it currently has only 2 drinking water machines, 1 on the 2nd floor and one on the 5th floor. There are no medical facilities available, and 1 college field is available on approximately. 5 acres for sports and sports events. Gymkhana has sports kits available for some sports.
Faculty: Only 2 teachers are in the permanent faculty in CSE; 1 is our HOD, ma'am, and 1 more sir is there. Other teachers are visiting faculty. They are qualified; two permanent teachers have Ph.D.s, but their teaching skills are very poor. Some of them are helpful and some aren't; the teaching quality is below average; they don't care if students get the concepts or not; they only explain some part of each PPT's slides and try to move on to the next slides quickly. The course curriculum is relevant, but it does not make the students industry-ready, obviously (just like 90% of other Indian colleges). Semester exams are not very tough but not very easy either; they are conducted by RTMNU in other college centres. The toppers has reached to 8.7 sgpa in 4th semester of our batch. The pass percentage is 98%.
Other: I chose CSE because I love building web apps. The best thing is that computer science is a very welcoming field for newcomers and has diverse applications. Improvements for CSE in my college would be coding competitions, hackathons, more seminars and alumni meets, and CSE-specific teachfests organized by the college. Coding culture is heavily missing. Events:
Annual sports event: Sfoorti (about 10 types of sports are played)
Annual teach fest: Adhyaaya for 3 days (includes 5–6 types of technical competitions, 4-5 types of non-technical competitions, and 3–4 seminars)
Annual cultural fest: Oranz for 3 days (includes bollywood day, cultural day and main day with dance, drama, singing, fashion show, costumes show and dj night)
The campus is very small, i.e., only 12 acres. It is located in a suburb of Nagpur, i.e., in New Khapri, Nagpur. college has various clubs, including IIC (institute innovation council), GDSC, Rotaract club, music club, astronomy club, robotics club, etc. Basic scholarships offered by the Maharashtra government through the MahaDBT portals are available.

It is an affordable college and provides good placements and education.
Placements: Our college provides a decent amount of placements for all branches. Around 80-85% of students got placed in our course with an average salary package of 5.5 LPA - 6 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Tata and Infosys.
Infrastructure: Our college is built recently, so it is not much good. Our college is under construction. Our college provides facilities like classrooms, labs, etc. Our college lack in the field of sports. Our football ground is not well-maintained, and we don't have a basketball court.
Faculty: Teachers are good. It's been six years since our college has been established, so it is not autonomous. It comes under Nagpur University for exams and course curriculum. The course curriculum is good. We have an average experience with our semester exams.
Other: I would recommend opting for this course as placements and faculty members are good. More than 95% of students get admission to these branches, so the quality of students is good. Our college has a good performance in sports tournaments. We listed our zonal final match in football and stood in 4th place in basketball.

College is quite good. I would recommend it.
Placements: The placement cell is a decent but good placement for core branches. TCS, Adani, Reliance, and Land are top recruiters. Almost 29% of students got internships.
Infrastructure: The campus of college is quite small compared to other government college. There are two centralized computer lab with the high-speed internet and only in lab but also across the campus. The library is also provided with AC and Wi-Fi with large variety of books.
Faculty: Faculty members are very supportive, especially of computer science and engineering departments. All staff are Ph.D. holder and have a profound knowledge of their fields. The course provided in the college is related to our industries which makes students industry-ready. Semester exams are quite easy if you study.
Other: I chose the computer science and engineering course because of its scope.

Average college with average placements.
Placements: In computer science engineering, there are almost 100% placements. There are average placements in other branches. 70-80% placements are there, TCS, Capgemini, tata, etc. are the top recruiters. The college provides various opportunities for the students to get placed in good companies.
Infrastructure: There is Wi-Fi available in our college and facilities also good with average placements. Infrastructure is not good but faculty members are well educated. Hostels are newly made so they are clean. The college has old buildings but they say it is new because it was established as an engineering college in 2016.
Faculty: The teachers are helpful and some of them are knowledgeable because most of the faculty members are visiting faculty. The course curriculum is also good and it helps students in becoming industry ready. The semester exams are not too hard. They are average in difficulty level.

Review of Government College of Engineering, Nagpur.
Placements: GCOEN has a decent placement record, with a fair number of students getting placed in recent years. While TCS is a primary recruiter, other companies also hire from the institution. Overall, the placements are quite good for students, as long as they have the necessary skills. A student with the right skills will definitely get placed.
Infrastructure: Although the course fee is more than worth it for the facilities, GCOEN's infrastructure might not be as grand as one would expect from an engineering college. The campus has three academic buildings, the Main building houses the Civil and Mechanical departments, the Annex building contains the Electronics, Electrical, and Computer Science departments, and a third building is currently under construction. There is one boys' hostel and one girls' hostel, a play area, and well-equipped labs.
Faculty: Faculty is good and well-experienced with effective teaching skills, which helps students enjoy studying and score easily. They are supportive and provide separate attention when needed. Exams are conducted by the RTMNU twice a year, while the college conducts three CTs per semester.
Other: The crowd at GCOEN is mostly good, consisting of both localites and outsiders. As it is a government college, students work hard to gain admission and do their best. The campus life is decent, although not overly exciting, there are many active clubs to participate in, which helps boost your confidence.
