Has the best college life experience.

Placements: Till now in this academic year, the chemical engineering department has received significant recruitment from companies like Hyundai, Sud Chemie, and MRF Tyres. The popular recruiters are Reliance Ltd., TCS, Sud Chemie, MRF Tyres, Federal Bank, etc. Hyundai led the recruitment drive, securing placements for nine students, four at TCS, two at Sud Chemie, and three at MRF Tires so far. More placement programs are on the way this academic year. The college also provides information about internship opportunities. Some notable companies that offered internships to students include Veolia Water Technologies, FACT, KMML, HOCL, etc.

Infrastructure: The college has Wi-Fi availability, but it can be accessed only through a laptop, and certain procedures are required to access the free Wi-Fi. Our department has access to a separate library, and we have a KV Narayanan Reading Room. All the major books related to the course are available in the department library. The labs are efficient and provide the necessary facilities to do experiments correctly and efficiently. Some labs in chemical engineering depth seem faculty, but necessary works are carried out for their repair. Classrooms are good, there are enough facilities, and smart classrooms are available in every class. There are seminar halls and mini seminar halls also available in the department. The hostel has good facilities, like a spacious room where every student has a separate table and chair and space for their things. Mess is not that good, but activities are done to improve the food at college. The government mess's food is decent, but the ladies hostel has a private mess too, and that food is not that good, so provisions are being taken by the college to curb this problem. There are free medical facilities available on the college campus. A large number of students excel through sports and games at the college, and they are provided with good training before the event. There is a physical education department, which has a free gym too. Athletics is not that top-tier here, but other sports like volleyball. Softball, cricket, kho, basketball, football, handball, etc. Training and competitions with other colleges are happening. And our college is also a tight participant in sports.

Faculty: Yes, the teachers are helpful and qualified. Teaching quality is also good. The course is relevant. The first 3 or 4 seem teachers teaching is not that efficient, and of course, it depends on the subject and also the willingness of the students to study. Towards the 5th and 6th semesters, we are made to properly concentrate on our studies. Internships and all should be researched by the students themselves, and yes, of course, the faculty is ready to give guidance, and the labs and industrial visits can make the students industry-ready. The semester exam difficulty is average, and this also depends on the subjects. For example, the IPC question paper last time was difficult, but MTO's was easy, and the evaluation is highly dependent on the difficulty of the exam. Our batch's last semester exam pass percentage is about 80%.

Other: GEC-Thrissur has the best campus life. There are several activities here. Whether it's a teaching festival, sports, art, or politics, everything is celebrated at the college. There is active politics on this campus, which ensures that no student has to face any difficulties. The presence of a strong political wing (SFI) in our college ensures that all the problems in the college are being solved immediately. The peers here are amazing, and there are several clubs here, which give a wide range of opportunities. The main event in the college is the tech fest conducted by the college union known as Dyuthi, and it's really amazing.

Our college has a very good campus.

Placements: About 60% of students got placed in our course. The salary package ranges between 3.5 LPA - 10 LPA. Reliance, MRF, etc., visit our college. Top roles offered are chemical engineer, etc. We can continue to study for master's degrees or directly apply for placements.

Infrastructure: All departments are well-constructed. They provide all basic facilities like labs, a department library, Wi-Fi, hostels, etc. The hostel rooms are well-maintained. They provide great food at affordable rates. They provide vegetarian and non-vegetarian food items. The physical education department is available in our college. It has sports equipment.

Faculty: Teachers are helpful. The semester exams are easy to pass. They are conducted very fast. The workload is a bit high in chemical engineering and electrical engineering. Other departments have a comparatively lower workload. The pass percentage is above 90%.

Other: Our course offers high salary packages. It is not completely related to chemistry. It deals with physics and mathematics.

I am very satisfied with my college and facilities there.

Placements: About 90 percent of students got placed in my batch, including me. Many good companies came for placements, and the highest package was 10 LPA, while the lowest was 4 LPA. The top recruiters included BPCL, Indian Oil, etc. Above 70 percent of students got internships in my batch, including opportunities at Indian Oil, Biocon, etc. Chemical engineering included process control and manufacturing products at an industrial level, so a chemical engineer could work as a process engineer in many industries.

Infrastructure: The department had all the required facilities, such as well-equipped labs, classrooms with projectors, departmental libraries, and a central library. Wi-Fi was accessible to all students, and the hostel also had good facilities, including better food and rooms.

Faculty: Teachers were very helpful and qualified. Most of the teachers were Ph.D. holders. They helped students a lot with their academic well-being. The semester exams were a little tough for some subjects, but they made students much more capable of handling the final exams. The passing requirement was 40 marks out of 100 in the university exams.

Other: Chemical engineering was an interesting course for someone who loved doing derivations and solving problems instead of studying theory. However, the syllabus was a little vast, and I wished it had been less extensive because sometimes it took a lot of time to cover the modules. By the way, campus life at GEC Thrissur was excellent, with events every month that helped us relieve stress. Students could also participate in sports, and there was an active dance club as well as many other clubs, allowing students to participate actively.

Good infrastructure and campus life.

Placements: About 40-60% of students get placement. The highest package is about 15L p. a and the lowest is not specified. Here top recruiters are coco cola, microsoft etc. Internship companies are BPCL-KR, Fact ltd etc. Top roles are environment engineering, energy engineering, chemical plant manager etc.

Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available in campus, labs are moderate and classrooms are also good. Library is great. In hostel, it's good but it's depends on students that how the hostel is. When we talk about sports and games, it's great and they have a good canteen too.

Faculty: Teachers vary, some are good but some are not enough. But, with the facilities, it's easy to pass. Yes the course curriculum is relevant and we can feel it from 2nd year. First half exams are moderate and becomes tougher when ends. About pass percentage, it's not sure but I think it's 60-70%.

Other: It's a good course and I choose it because I got seat in this course. To improve, they may add some practical teaching methods seen in foreign education system. About events and fest, there would be great events and fest in campus, it would be worthy.

The most wonderful institution.

Placements: On average, 70% of the students in this college got placed this year. An average of 7 LPA was offered to chemical engineering students, and the lowest package was 4 LPA, while the highest was 20 LPA. Many companies accept students, such as Infosys, Puram, etc. Over 90% of students got internships in top companies and industries. Offered jobs included managers, industry supervisors, etc.

Infrastructure: The college is about 75 acres. It consists of many blocks for each department. We can access wifi in any area of the college. Each department has its own lab. All classrooms have projectors or smart screens. The college provides great support for sports activities. The food provided in the college is very tasty and budget-friendly.

Faculty: All the faculty members are well-educated and well-mannered. They teach very well. This year, our syllabus was changed, and it is much more effective and easy to handle. KTU decided to make every student industry-ready. The new syllabus is easier than the previous one, and I think everyone can pass the exam with no difficulty.

Other: I like chemical engineering and its aspects.

GEC Thrissur: A perfect launchpad for an aspiring engineer.

Placements: Placements are from Reliance, MRF, Sudchemy, and many other non-core IT companies. Placements are usually conducted through online video meetings and exams, which I find can allow many unworthy students to pass, as cheating is practiced by many. Offline interviews are also common but the bigger core companies prefer online selection.

Infrastructure: Classrooms are adequate. Hostel facilities are tolerable. The library is good. Canteen is located within the campus and sells food at a reasonable rate. Canteen is located in one corner of the campus and not in the middle, so students from some departments have to travel farther.

Faculty: Teachers are graduates from NITS and other engineering colleges who know their stuff but are a little hesitant or have a problem with imparting it to students. The university doesn't have a proper textbook and the course topics are from many textbooks, which have to be either bought or borrowed from the library, which is quite exhausting.

Other: College events are fun and the different parties organise it. Dyuthi the cultural college fest is a major crowd puller. Depth events are also fun depending on the department.

A good college, definitely the best option for pursuing Chemical Engineering after NITC.

Placements: The college has decent placements. Companies like L&T, Tata, and Reliance are the usual top recruiters. However, placements depend on the skills of the student. Most interviews include basic fundamental questions from high school and higher secondary level. In chemical engineering, topics like heat exchange and distillation columns are very important.

Infrastructure: The physical labs are in pretty poor condition. The digital labs, including computer labs, are better but still not the best. The research labs are excellent. In the regular labs, most equipment is decades old and barely works. The hostel is good, and the food and room facilities together cost up to Rs. 3,000 per month. Hostel admission depends on income and distance from home.

Faculty: Teachers are actually quite good. Most faculty members are knowledgeable and supportive if students approach them. The course alone does not make students industry-ready. Students need to connect with senior professors and do internships in companies like BPCL, FACT, TCC, and HOCL. Semester exams are generally easy if students study even a small portion of the syllabus. The pass percentage is above 80%.

Other: I chose this course mainly due to my interest in chemistry. I initially planned to go for B.Sc. Chemistry, but then I thought engineering would be better since I can branch out to multiple areas of expertise, basically making my career options more versatile. The best part of the course is that the semester is quite fast. We are forced to figure things out in a short span of time. The main thing I am frustrated with the condition of labs and the exam evaluation by KTU. The college conducts a cultural fest called Dyuthi.
