Candidates who belong to the General category must be born before on or after Oct 1, 1997. There is a relaxation of five years for candidates who belong to the reserved categories (SC/ ST/ PwD category candidates), i.e, they must be born on or after Oct 1, 1992).

The total fee for the four-year BS programme of IIT Kanpur is INR 8 lakh. This is inclusive of the one-time admission and caution deposits but is not inclusive of the hostel fee.
