Placements at IIT Madras are good. According to the placement report 2025 released, median and average package recorded during BTech CSE placements was 46 LPA and 53.2 LPA. In BTech EE, the median and average salary offered was 22.5 LPA and 28.8 LPA. In ME, MM and PH branch, the average package stood at 16.9 LPA, 18.4 LPA and 34.1 LPA.
IIT Madras eligibility for each course-level is different. Students need to meet the basic admission requirements to get a seat at IIT Madras. The basic eligibility requirements for IIT Madras programmes are as below:
- For IIT Madras UG Engineering courses - Class 12 with a minimum aggregate of 75% and Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as mandatory subjects
- For IIT Madras PG courses - Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required. The minimum marks may vary depending on the course.
IIT Madras overall highest package data is not released. The best placement was observed in BTech CS branch with average package of INR 53.2 LPA.
During MBA and Tech MBA placements 2025, the highest package offered was 35.5 LPA and 81 LPA.
IIT Madras JEE Advanced cutoff 2024 was concluded for different courses such as BTech, Integrated BTech and BS. The cutoff for the General AI category candidates closed at a range of 159 and 10682. During 2023, the cutoff ranks for the same was closed at a range of 148 and 11185. EE branch recorded the best placement during IIT Madras MS placements 2025. The median and average package received in EE branch was 24 LPA and 26.5 LPA. It was followed by CS branch wherein the average and median package received was 22.2 LPA and 21.9 LPA.

In terms of average package, AE branch students received the best average package of 31.4 LPA during PhD placements 2025. With respect to median package, CH and MA branch students received the highest median package of 25 LPA in 2025.
